i'm standing in the gymnasium
watching them all glitter blue and gold
with their sparkling smiles
and perfect hair and perfect bodies
perfect loves and perfect lives
and i realize that i always have been
and always will be nothing but a monster
simmering in jealousy for what i will never be
standing aside waiting for this town to love me
when i never gave a thought to love them first
so now i'll go back to what i do best
standing aside and watching the world go by
