Epilogue

That night, I find myself out on Joey's lawn, watching the stars. I close my eyes and think long and hard about what I said at the funeral.

It's all too true. Thoughts swirl around my head and give me a headache.

In the moment, I think I've found my purpose, or at least part of it.

I was not put on this earth to find my purpose, no one was. It's just like Meliah said; it's not much fun when you spend your life asking why. My purpose is to be there for others like they were for me. I am meant to help the people around me and help them to find their talents, good qualities, and characteristics that make them stand out.

Humans are born with a blurry image of some kind of dream in their future. We all want to be someone big and have something bigger than everyone else. Unfortunately, the chances of that happening are slim.

On this wild ride, I've learned to chase my dreams. I stopped letting my thoughts deter my dreams and take me to scary places. I learned how talk to everyone, not just the people I'm close to. I invite everyone in my life.

I'm chasing my dreams now, even though they seem far away. I want to grow up, finish high school, and become a photographer. My plans involve staying close to my friends and family and loving every minute with them. I dream of sticking with Meliah and maybe even starting a family.

I open my eyes and smile. I'm chasing the stars above, and I'm happy with who I've grown into so far.
