Author's POV: 

"Y/Nah, where were you?" Your mom asked as you blinked blankly while Taehyung came from behind, "Yah! I think you left your ba-" but stopped seeing your mom and dad standing at the doorstep. He gulped before smiling awkwardly bowing to them.

---Time skip

"Ah! That's weird of you both to be friends... but- were you together last night?" Your dad asked as you shook your head while Taehyung nodded his. You glared at him as he gulped. 
"No- dad! Actually, we were basically with Mina and Mr Lee. It was a group trip!" You spoke as he nodded while Taehyung eyed you in disbelief. 

"It's almost 12 pm. Just have lunch here, dear. Y/N usually isn't good at making friends. You must've been bearing her a lot!" Your mother spoke as Taehyung chuckled joking with her. 
"Hmm, you should definitely come to our Y/N's engagement and wedding!" Your father spoke while eating as Taehyung looked at them awkwardly while you choked on your food. 
"Mom- Dad! Not now. I am eating.." You spoke as Taehyung chuckled. 

"Engagement? Aren't they engaged?" He asked as your parents shook their heads.
"They're only arranged. The engagement hasn't been held yet. Did she lie to you? She often goes around showing people the ring I gave her last year and lies about being engaged. Tch, I told you she's bad at making friends! She just knows how to push everyone away by using these excuses." Your mother complained as Taehyung was pretty perplexed but laughed along while glancing at you as you sighed. 
"Now he'll annoy me again." You muttered under your breath while eating your food while suddenly a hand forwarded some pork to you.

"You like it," Taehyung spoke smirking as you sighed thanking him while desperately cursing your luck. Him knowing about this wasn't a problem but him teasing you and calling you a creep for lying would be the actual problem. You weren't exactly a creep, you just used that excuse to keep people away from you but you got caught eventually. 

--After lunch 

"See you, Mr Kim." You bowed as he sighed.
"Looks like you're embarrassed enough. It's okay. I'll see you later~ my single bestie~" He spoke as you scoffed internally before getting in your room. 

"Ugh, why does he know?! That's annoying." You rolled your eyes before seeing a text from Hyunjin.

'Y/Nah, can we meet up today?' You frowned at the text.

---4 pm

Right now, you were at the cafe where Hyunjin asked you to come. You were a little confused why he suddenly wanted to meet up but you eventually agreed. 
He came with a smile and a bouquet of flowers making you frown. 

"Hey, how have you been?" He asked as you replied, "Pretty good. What about you?" You asked as he spoke, "Yeah, good. I was busy with work but... actually, I called you to apologize." 

"I am sorry for delaying the marriage that day. I thought it wasn't a big deal but come to think of it, I eventually realized you might've misunderstood it or... felt bad. I mean- don't misunderstand me, I am really not in anything else other than work. I know there's been a lot of things- and causes for you to misunderstand but.. I hope you don't." He spoke as you looked at him a little surprised. 
"Ever since high school, I knew you liked me. I mean, you're too obvious and... cute. But, you know I have always seen you as a friend and never really cherished you or anything. But, after meeting up with a client, I heard their story and realized- mine wasn't any different. I don't know if it's too late but I want to give this marriage a chance if you don't mind. Because I have always focused on career and goals but not really my social life. I don't wanna lose you as my friend as well." He spoke as you smiled a little.

"Hyunjinah... you know I like you, right?" You asked as he nodded. 
"But... I feel weird now. I didn't want to bother you by telling you this but, I don't know if I am happy anymore. I feel weird and every time I think about this marriage, I feel rejected and down. I might sound very- bad right now but I don't know if I feel the same towards you anymore. The day you delayed the marriage, I kind of lost the hope I had. I knew you didn't like me, I didn't have hopes either but- the rejected feeling is a little... sad. But- you know, I don't want to end things because of some mistakes. Give it a chance." You spoke as he smiled a little nodding. Though a part of him was feeling very guilty and hopeless, he still decided to try to remend it. After all, you had been arranged for 2 years now. It would've been a waste if you both ended in such... a way. 

"Let's have something?" He asked as you smiled nodding. Though you weren't feeling the same butterflies and the shyness you felt with him decreased a lot, you were still glad and happy he realized his mistake.

---Time skip

"The food was good." You spoke as he smiled nodding. You both were walking and it was a little awkward. 
"Come to think of it, we never really talked about ourselves much... like- secrets, likings, disliking. It was just a walk with casual phrases." He spoke as you awkwardly smiled nodding.
"I am sorry, again." He spoke as you chuckled a little saying, "Don't be. I never expected you to like me back anyway. It's okay." He smiled a little sadly saying, "Should we get an ice cream?" 
You smiled nodding.

You both went towards the ice cream in front of you before ordering. 
"A vanilla ice cream, please," Hyunjin spoke as you looked at the menu. There was 'mint choco'. You stared at it as a chuckle left your lips remembering Taehyung's choice. 
Hyunjin looked at you confused seeing you chuckle. You coughed awkwardly saying, "Ah- I want... a mint choco one." 
"Huh? I never saw you order that- I didn't know you liked it." Hyunjin spoke as you smiled saying, "I don't. I am just trying it out. I never tried it out because people said it tasted like toothpaste. But I wanna know why some people like it."

Hyunjin nodded with a little smile. You both took your ice cream while walking. You licked your ice cream as you coughed badly.
"It's so- weird." You spoke as Hyunjin chuckled, "I expected that." 
"Tch, only weird people can eat weird things." You spoke remembering Taehyung as Hyunjin smiled saying, "Do you want me to drop you home?" 
You looked at him saying, "No, I want to go somewhere else." 
"I'll drop you then." He spoke as you smiled nodding. 

"And, you don't have to be all sweet and nice to me. You can just be yourself. It's fine. It'd be even weirder if you did." You spoke as he replied, "Ah. I just want to be better to you, not as negligent as I was before. Being all nice suddenly sounds unrealistic, doesn't it?" You smiled at his response.

---Time skip

"Why did you come here?" He asked seeing you asking him to stop in front of a perfume shop.
"Actually, it's Mina's birthday soon. And she wants perfume. So-" You scratched your neck as he smiled saying, "Oh that's great! Do you want me to accompany you? I should also buy her something." 

"Do you want to?" You asked as he nodded. You both got into the perfume shop browsing a little. You noticed Mina's favourite perfume and took it.
"Mhm, this one's her favourite!" You spoke taking it as he nodded. You were about to walk towards the cash counter but stopped smelling a familiar scent. The scent was extremely familiar. 
"Taehyung." You mumbled looking here and there. Hyunjin furrowed his brows as you spoke, "Uhh, the smell here, do you know what perfume it is?" You asked as he spoke, "Ah, I think it's that one- the worker is spraying it for the customer." You nodded walking there asking, "What is this perfume?" 

"Ah, ma'am. This perfume is our ToTo Frog's Choice." She spoke as you looked at her confused.
"This is the name, pretty unique right? But the smell is very nice and attractive. Would you like to see?" She asked as you nodded. You checked the smell and were confirmed it was the one Taehyung used.
"How can someone be this weird?!" You sighed before remembering how Taehyung was complaining to you in the car about his perfume almost ending.

"Should I- why should I though? It's just a gift... he's given me many more." You spoke before taking that perfume as well. It cost a bit but you didn't mind. You wanted to repay him after all. Hyunjin was a little confused so you told him it was for your friend. You both were now on your way home when you got a call. It was from Taehyung.

Y/N: "Hello?"
Taehyung: "Yo~~"
Y/N: "What blabber do you wanna blurt out now?"
Taehyung: "Tch, rude. I just wanted to check up on you. Are you okay?"
Y/N: "What? I am okay, of course-" 
Taehyung: "Ah! Not that. Your fiance thing. You took a day break, are you feeling better?"
Y/N: "Ah actually... some things happened. I'll tell you about them later."
Taehyung: "Why not now?!~" 
Y/N: "I am with someone right now. So you can stop whining."
Taehyung:"Hah, who?"
Y/N: "Hyun jin."
Taehyung: "Oh. But why on earth are you with him?!"
Y/N: "Because he is-" You stopped realizing he wasn't your fiance to be exact. 
Y/N: "Of course, we're getting engaged."

Taehyung scoffed saying, "Yeah yeah. Did you make up with him? Did you talk it out?" You hummed as he smiled sadly.

Taehyung: "Are you happy?"
Y/N: "I am not sure. Let's talk later. I am going home."
Taehyung: "Oh, okay! Rest well, go home well. Take care."
Y/N: "You too?" 
Taehyung: "Byee~~~" 

He hung up as you sighed.
"Who was it?" Hyunjin asked as you replied, "Just- an annoying person."
"Didn't look like you were annoyed though. You seemed happy." He spoke as you let out a gasp in disbelief.
"Ah, I don't know. Whatever!" You spoke as he drove towards your home. 

Taehyung's POV: 

"She isn't engaged. But, she likes him. Either way, I am just a third wheel. At least it sorted out." I sighed smiling sadly. I feel very annoyed and selfish but I know I can't just make her love me like that.
