Chapter 10:: Special

Author's POV:

"See you then." You bowed a little as he chuckled before waving at you. You were standing there waiting for him to drive away while he was waiting for you to get in.
"You go first.." You spoke as he replied, "No, you." You frowned a little before saying, "Sure? I guess..." You headed back glancing back at him who was grinning. He was in cloud 9 right now.

"Ah! She's so cute! I am about to die." He spoke giggling before driving away. You looked at him leave from the window before saying, "Why is he so weird? He makes me feel like we're close. Tch." You went back to your room before freshening up.

---Time skip

"Ah, there's so much work. I don't like this." You rolled your eyes before typing in your laptop. Yawning, you rubbed your eyes trying to keep working. You looked at the clock, 1:34 am.
"It's so late. I don't think I can go to the office well tomorrow if I continue this." You spoke sighing.
"I have to finish this though." You muttered while focusing back on work. Only if you hadn't wasted your weekends sleeping rather than doing your work, you could've rested now.

"Let's take a 10-minute break!" You said before lying on the bed before taking your phone. You scrolled Instagram for a while. Suddenly you found a familiar account on your recommended.
'pretty_mirae'
You frowned entering the account as you realized it was Mirae's. 5.3K followers.
"She's famous even online." You spoke sighing about to turn off the phone when your eyes caught a specific post of hers.
"H-Hyunjin?" You blurted out before entering the picture. It was a group picture of everyone who went to Jeju.
"Ah... so they all went to the funeral together as friends. That's why they appeared that day in the restaurant." You spoke before sighing.

You noticed how Mirae was so close to Hyunjin, though he wasn't looking pretty happy or comfy. You sighed before quitting the app.
"They are old friends... what's wrong anyway? I am not a stalker anyway." You spoke before getting back to work.
"Does she still like him?" You thought but shrugged it off focusing on your work.

---Next day

"Ah... I am so sleepy." You yawned trying to stay awake as Hyunjin chuckled.
"Are you that sleepy?" He asked as you nodded trying your best not to look stupid in front of him but your sleepiness wasn't helping.
"We're here." He spoke as you nodded about to get off the car. This morning, you missed the bus so Hyunjin asked if he could drive you to work and you agreed.

"Are you sure you'll be okay?" He asked seeing you so sleepy. You nodded before getting out lazily. Walking ahead, you spotted Mina waving at you. She ran towards you hugging you as you looked at her confused.
"What happened?" You asked sleepily as she screamed, "YAH! WHY ARE YOU SO SLEEPY?!!! WE HAVE SUCH GOOD NEWS!!"
You groaned holding your ears while asking, "What??"
"The collab was such a success!! Our company gained ALOT of profit. Everyone's in the office celebrating. We'll have a grand party tomorrow!!" She spoke as your eyes widened.

"Woah?! REALLY?! That's great!" You spoke chuckling as she nodded. You both got in excitedly.

---During Lunch Time

"Woah, can't believe we're getting a special lunch today~~ Thanks to the successful collab!" Mina spoke as you giggled.
"Where's Mr Kim? I don't see him today." You spoke looking around. Usually, he'd be bugging you or hanging around but today you didn't see him.
"Yah! Pabo- Why would he be here today? He has his own company to take care of. I think he was here more often these days because of the collab. He's probably in his company right now." Mina spoke as you nodded looking around before looking at your food.

"Why? You miss him?" She wiggled her brows as you scoffed.
"Yah! Why would I? He's just a good friend to me. And I guess he's too annoying now that I can clearly sense his absence." You spoke as she chuckled.
"Tch, idiot." Mina giggled as you glared at her.

---After Office

"See you then!" You waved at Mina before getting in Hyunjin's car.
"How was your day?" He asked as you looked at him before replying, "Pretty good. Our collab was successful too." He nodded smiling.
"Want to go eat somewhere before heading home?" He asked as you looked at him before looking down.
"Ah, su-" You were about to speak when his phone rang. You looked at his phone to see the caller ID, 'Jung Mirae'

He looked at it before clenching his jaws as he declined the call before putting his phone back in. You awkwardly smiled saying, "Wasn't the call important?" He shook his head. You smiled a little nodding before saying, "Actually... I have a lot of work to do. Because the collab was a success, we will have a party tomorrow. I need some preparations."
He looked a little down but smiled nodding.
"It's okay! Let's go next time!" He spoke as you nodded. He drove you home as you thanked him before getting into your house.

---At night

"I know he's not wrong. But why does she feel so suspicious?" You scoffed before scrubbing your face staring at the mirror. You washed your face looking at your face. Your forehead bump had become better now. You were able to cover it with foundation.
Suddenly you remembered how Taehyung reacted when he saw your forehead bump.
"Tch, that man surely has the strangest reactions." You rolled your eyes before applying some skincare.

"He doesn't go a day without bugging me, is he finally getting some common sense?" You asked yourself looking at your phone seeing no messages or calls from Taehyung.
"Tch, now that I made him my friend, he's surely ignoring me!" You scoffed before shrugging it off. Sitting on the bed, you took the photo frame on your nightstand. It was a picture of you and Hyunjin.

"This was the day our engagement was planned with our families." You spoke before sighing. You and Hyunjin were high school classmates who also happened to be family friends, but because of Hyunjin's reserved personality, you were formal friends. You did like him ever since that time but never confessed or showed it. You were truly happy when you got to know about your engagement, but you didn't know how Hyunjin felt. He said he was okay with it because he didn't have any interest in dating.

You both weren't engaged yet. Because of your and his work, you were currently focusing more on building up yourselves. The promises were made between families and you were about to be engaged within this year so you just went along with it. But as time went by, you felt weirder. You didn't know if it was truly what you wanted. You liked him because he was just so perfect. But with him, you felt as if his perfection was making your imperfection look more and more visible.

"I thought him being perfect will make our married life happy as well." You spoke before sighing.
"It makes it stranger the more I think of it." You muttered before keeping the photo frame on your nightstand.

You lied on your bed before staring at the dress you picked to go to the party. Suddenly, you got a phone notification. Frowning, you unlocked your phone to see a message from 'Mr Kim Taehyung'
"Tch. Is this even a time to message someone?" You frowned before checking his message.

'Come out. Only for 5 minutes! It's urgent! You can't say no. I am outside.'

You frowned harder reading the message before going to the window. Your eyes widened as you saw Taehyung standing outside your house with his car. Looking here and there.
"What the- Why is he here?" You furrowed your brows before quickly wearing your slippers as you went down.

"I am not wearing any makeup though. Aish-" You sighed in frustration before going down. You walked towards him making him smile and wave you excitedly like a little kid.
"Woah. You're really unbelievable!" You spoke as he chuckled before looking at you properly. He smiled checking your face, "You didn't wear any makeup?" He asked as you scoffed saying, "Am I supposed to wear makeup while sleeping?"
"I thought girls did that though." He spoke as you let out an airy breath.
"Anyways, how are you? Did you miss me all day?" He asked as you spoke, "Are you, my boyfriend? Why should I miss you?" You rolled your eyes playfully as he sighed.

"Right, right. Ms Extremely Hard To Get." He spoke as you raised a brow at him.
"Why did you come here though?" You asked expecting to get a logical answer though a part of you was saying he was going to spew out some nonsense.
"Well, since our company is hosting a party because of the collab success, I wanted to give you this. Wear this to the party." He spoke giving you a bag as you looked at it confused.
"Why are you-" He smiled a little handing it to you.
"Because I thought you'd look pretty in it." He spoke as you looked at it and then him.

"Don't wear it if you don't want to! But know- I have a great fashion sense, you might regret later." He spoke as you scoffed saying, "Yeah sure sure!" Suddenly, you remembered about the coat you were supposed to return to him.
"Ah- Wait here! Only for a minute. I have something to give you." You spoke as he looked at you confused.
"Woah- is it some gift?" He asked with a silly grin as you sighed walking back quickly. Getting his coat, you went outside as well before handing him the bag.

"This is the coat you lent to me on the first day we met. I sent it to the laundry but forgot. Now that I got it, I thought I should give it back to you. I already lost one of your coats." You spoke as he spoke, "Woah, I thought I lost two of my favourites coats forever! Looks like I am getting one back. Hah, kindness pays it!"
You scoffed at his words before saying, "Now I am going back. Thank you for the dress... though you didn't have to." You went back as he smiled.

"She looks so pretty without makeup. I just hope she wears that dress. She'll look pretty." He chuckled walking inside his car. But an uneasy feeling was lingering in his mind, 'Is this even right?'
