Part 8:God Finally Answered My Prayer

"Told you never to get married, it was the dumbest thing ever." Ayush commented. I had asked him to meet me for Coffee, he was General manager of The Hilton so he hardly ever had the time. But hearing my voice in distress, he relented.

"I want to work it out with him," I sighed. "But it is impossible when he refuses to listen to me and understand."

"Well, don't get divorced. Maybe you can just separate for awhile. Distance will do you good."

"No."

"Get another job?"

"I am on contract."

"But it is your company too?"

"It is complicated."

"Told you never to get married, it was the dumbest thing ever." He repeated.

"Can you help me out?" I said irritatingly.

"What do you want me to say? I have a party today, come with me. You will feel better."

"I  can't. I already have plans."

"Shopping with Nehal?" he asked.

"No. I'm going to meet someone for dinner."

"Who?"

"Jai."

His expression said it all. He sighed and remained silent for awhile.

"This is so stupid, Anidhi."

"It is just dinner."

"I don't know what to say. You need to talk to Nehal or Sanya."

"They are leaving for Goa, today."

"Go with them."

"I can't. Divyam is worried something might happen to me and in turn it will effect the baby."

"The baby? You are pregnant?" he asked bewildered. Oh yes, I did not tell him.

I nodded. "Pregnant and you will go have dinner with your first love behind your husband's back?"

I nodded once more.

"Told you never to get married, it was the dumbest thing ever," he said again and I hit his hand lightly.

Our spinach sandwitches arrived along with our coffees. It was easy to talk to Ayush, even though he mostly acted like he did not care. I told him everything that happened with Nehal and he laughed, "You guys must be sisters by blood or something."

"There is nothing similar about our respective situations."

"Really?" he started to laugh again.

I had chosen a black dress and straightened my hair. When I called Jai, I did not even expect him to pick up. But surprisingly he did and invited me to have dinner with him.

Invited me to dinner. With him.

How much I had wished this would happen  when I was a crazy hormone freaked teenager in love? I prayed to god or moon or whatever I could find just to make this happen.

Guess god finally answered my prayer.

BUT I DID NOT ASK FOR ME TO BE PREGNANT AND MARRIED TO SOMEONE ELSE WHEN THIS WOULD HAPPEN.

I arrived early and the host led me to a table for two. After waiting for at least ten minutes, I saw him come towards the table. He was wearing a red shirt and black formal trousers. He looked fresh and vibrant as always. His hair were messy and he looked really cute. He smiled on seeing me and came to sit with me.

"Anidhi." He said softly shaking my hand.

"Hi." I said with with my big teethy smile. I was acting like a nervous teenager.

A waiter came by and he ordered starters.

"You look great, it has been so long," I said.

"Yes. I was pretty surprised to see your call."

"Ha ha."  Thats it Anidhi?

"So how have you been? What do you do now?"

"I'm an interior designer. And you?"

"I am a professional photographer," he smiled. It was his dream.

"I'm so happy for you," I said excitedly and he started laughing. "Thanks, last I heard you got married?"

Damn.

WHYWHYWHYWHY

"Yeah, I did," I said as normally as possible without sounding disappointed that he knows. "What about you?"

"No time," he said with a smile.

YESYESYESYES

But maybe he is dating, someone?

"But surely you must be dating, someone?"

"Yeah. We broke up a month ago."

"Oh, I am so sorry." I said softly.

I LOVE YOU DEAREST GOD. I PROMISE TO VISIT THE TEMPLE TOMORROW.

We talked about my job first, and then his. He was a professional photographer. He worked for high profile weddings and parties. He seemed to love his job a lot.

But all the things about his job and all, I already knew.

Bless Facebook.

I have stalked him regularly for the last seven years.

"I know all of this, I saw it on facebook."

"But didn't you block me because of Divyam?"

"Nehal's profile."

"Oh ha ha. You two still going strong?"

"Yeah. We have fights every now and then."

"Marry her, I say." He laughed and I joined too. "What about Viki?" Viki was his best friend. Although I knew they were going strong too, facebook again.

"Stronger than a brick wall," he smiled. "Anyway, you tell me about you. How has your life been? Whats the name of your company?" He asked.

He knew nothing about me.

"Precious." I told him.

"Really? Why? Sounds very cheeky."

"It was the name of my pet dog. So Divyam let me name the company after him."

"Wow, nice."

"Yeah."

Silence.

"Why are you here Anidhi? Wouldn't he be mad you are here with me?"

"He does not know."

Silence.

We had finished our food right now and I had no idea what was going on in his head.

"I want to see you again."

WHAT.

"Really?"

"Yes."

We got up and left the restaurant. "I bought a new house. A bunch of friends are coming over for a lunch party tomorrow and you should come too."

"I would be glad to." I said happily.

"Good. I will text you the address." He said and kissed me on the cheeck.

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

We both said our good byes and I got inside the car with my heart beating so fast. I needed to speak to Nehal right away!

But she was in Goa.

I got out of the car and inside my house. It was only ten, Divyam would not be back till twelve. He had a lot of business meeting todays.

"Wow, that is an amazing dress." I froze on hearing his voice. "Where did you go?"

"To see a few friends."

"Which friends?"

" Some old school friends," I said slowly.

"You are lying to me," he said and got up from the couch. "Who did you go and see?"

"Jai," I said.

And his face turned completely red.
