Part 18:Boombox

I had posted this chapter earlier but somehow the 2k words I wrote were gone and only the first 500 were visible! Bleh.. sometimes wattpad can really get on your nerves. Anyway, I had to rewrite it. -.- So sorry guys for the inconvenience caused, I did take down the chapter as soon as I could.

Without any further delay

B O O M B O X  (Check out the song!)

I went to the fridge opening the freezer right away. Looking at all the options of ice-cream, I grab butterscotch and chocolate fudge and take one scoop out from each of them and add them to a bowl. Keeping the ice-cream bricks back in the freezer, I grab Oreo cookies from the cupboard and melt them. I add them to my ice-cream paradise.

There is nothing like ice-cream therapy.

"Well, now that is selfish. You have a guest here and you are enjoying ice-cream alone out there! That is really bad Nehal!" Ayush my best friend remarks. I totally forgot about him being here.

"There is the freezer and rest is in the kitchen. Make yourself at home." I reply while pointing towards the washroom with my finger.

"You are pointing towards the loo."

"Oh, I know. My ice-cream. I am really possessive about it."

He sighs and gets some ice-cream for himself.

"So whats bothering you?"

"This is the first time in my life in a long time that nothing is bothering me." I smile at him.

"And that is whats bothering you, right?"

How does he know me so well?

"Shut up."

"Nehal, I know you. Whats going on?"

I know you know me. That is another thing that's bothering me now.

"Shivam has been talking about getting married."

"Oh."

"I met his parentsawhile back. He told them about us. They insisted on us getting married and he was delighted."

"So whats wrong about it?"

"We just got together Ayush!"

"Nehal. Stop being so cautious. Take some risks you know."

Yeaaaaaaaah right. If I were cautious I would not have gone ahead and made a fool of myself in front of around three hundred guests in his engagement party!

"You mean take the risk? The risk of getting married?"

"Yeah, but not before Anidh gives birth to her trips and before Sanya getting married.  They would be really mad at you for stealing their thunder."

"Kind of like you stealing my ice-cream." I say and point towards his hand which has very smoothly wrapped itself around my half finished bowl. "I really love him and I'm happier more than ever, you know."

"So whats wrong with getting married to your ex-boyfriend and best friend of almost six years?" He asked while grabbing my ice-cream bowl. I let it go.

"Nothing. Marriage is something we shouldn't rush into. It is something we build relationships into.. and I don't think we are there yet."

"Then you got to talk to him before he goes ahead and throws a second engagement party for himself. And this time you will be announcing a complete different disaster on the microphone."

"You won't let this go will you?"

"You kidding me? I think we have you announcing your love on video as well!"

"What?" I asked and gaped at him. Just perfect.

**

I had fallen asleep really late. After a month of practically doing nothing, career wise, my agent had gotten me  a job as a guest writer for Woman In Me, a really popular national magazine.  My column in  it was not going to be regular basically I have to write in samples and they will choose to publish one every now and then. But I was to be a regular on their online site. They were paying 700 bucks for every piece online and 1200 for offline piece. I could not be less than grateful. It was a huge magazine after all and I was doing nothing for a month or so.

Also my editor was going completely crazy and breathing down my neck. I had six months left to complete my book and finding out that I did not come up with anything new for two months almost made her practically pull her hair out.

"What do they want me  to write about?" I asked my agent over a coffee meeting.  My agent was Vivian. She was a middle aged American woman who had shifted to India ten years ago. She was a sweet woman and had landed me some real sweet jobs.

"About love and your struggle with it. Beginning from the day you announced your love for your best friend. They think it can be a really funny blog and can interest many girls. They will edit up the online version and put a shortened version in the magazine."

I nearly threw my coffee in her face. "Wait how do they know about that? How do YOU know about that?"

"You did not know? Everyone knows. Your fans definitely. I think it is on youtube as well. Anyway as soon as I found out, I contacted a bunch of magazines and two of them were interested."

"Really?"

"Girls will live vicariously through you. I'm telling you, this blog could be a huge hit."

Anyway this is how I ended up writing a sample for Woman in me and emailing them. It got really late, like four am so  I had to sleep late.

Of course I had an entire week to write it but...bless procrastination.

So since I had slept so late, I was planning on sleeping throughout the entire day but not the person knocking on my bedroom door. "Mom, I slept really late, don't wake me up now."

"Its not your mom and I can't let you sleep." I heard a male voice answer. Shivam. "Come out baby. I promise to let you sleep later."

I got up immediately on realizing who it was. And checked myself out in the mirror. My hair were in different directions, my eyes were as red as red chilly and I was wearing Winnie The Pooh Tee paired with butterfly pajamas.

What? I like to be  comfortable. Sexy night dresses are not comfortable. Ever. That is why they are sexy.

Did I want Shivam to see me like this?

No.

"A second honey!" I called out.

"Honey? What if it was me waking her up?" My mom muttered from behind the door and Shivam laughed.

I quickly washed my face and changed into some shorts. I combed my hair, trying to tame them but failing miserably.

My hair were not listening to me.

I quickly fished out a straightener and straightened them out.

"You know you said a second?" Shivam called out. "What are you doing?"

I opened the door to a very impeccably dressed Shivam. It was seven a.m and he looked like a walking talking dream!

"Finally!" He exclaimed. "Nice Tee." Great, I forgot to change my Tee.

I giggled nervously. "So what brings you this early?"

"I have a surprise for you." He said taking me by hand and leading me out of the house. "Hope you like it and give me your seal of approval." Seal of approval? From behind I saw my mother wink at me.

Is he going to ask me to marry him?

A/N- Late Update so sorry. A week later I have a very important exam which I have been studying for (well mostly, I am procrastinator just like Nehal!) for which I need your good wishes ! xD Lets hope it goes well. *dramatically sighs*

This chapter is dedicated to one of my newest readers! She voted on my first few chapters and gave a decent review of it to my brother! xD You should check out her story, she is a pretty talented writer herself! @shifa_sarguru

Until next time
