Part 16:Sunflowers

I feel like I'm a prisoner and I'm awaiting my death sentence. Ever since Shivam's parents saw me come out of his room, freshly bathed but dressed in the party clothes from last night, they have been staring at the both of us. It does not help that I'm dressed in a sequined off shoulder black dress early in the morning.

Shivam tried to clean himself up and the messy kitchen we both made in five minutes but failed. He still reeked off eggs and the kitchen, I don't think he will let his parents visit.

"I'm all for modern girls and I'm not an orthodox. But dear don't you think this dress really isn't appropriate for this time of the day?" His mother finally speaks. I do like his mom, she has always been very amiable and courteous, it is his dad I'm scared of.

"Yes, I do. Shivam here wanted me to wear this dress so I did." I had to say something? Shivam glared at me. His dad turned to him, "What? Why would you want that?" Shivam turned into water on hearing him question.

"It is just that..I bought her this dress awhile ago and she never wore it. I was convinced she gave it away or something, so I asked her to prove it, last night at the party. Silly girl, she thought the party was today!"

"Yeah...haha, how stupid of me! I thought he meant 9 a.m. not p.m!" I join in.

"Its okay, girls are dumb." If his parents were not here, I would have shredded him like cheese and thrown him at the pigs to devour but, oh well.

"You both are silly." His mother piped in. "What were you doing in his bedroom dear?"  She asked me and I turned completely red.

"She is helping me decorate the new apartment mom. Her best friend is an interior designer and owns a company, you know? She will make sure Anidhi helps me with this new place!"

"Anyway," His father began, "Long time no see, Nehal."

Oh, I know. Last time you saw me I was holding a microphone in my hand and ruined your son's engagement. By the way did you know your son and I are back together? I'm sure you are going to be so happy about that!

"Yes, uncle. How have you been?"

"Pretty well."

OKAAAY

This is going to be long and terrible.

***************************Chasing Love**************************************

"So he told his parents about you guys?" Sanya asked while grabbing a handful of chips from my bowl. I had come over to visit, because I had to share all that happened with someone!

"Oh yeah."

"How did they take it?"

"Lets not talk about that." I replied. "Hey, where were you last night?"

"Home. Arvind dropped me."

"Thats it?"

"Thats it!"

We started are staring constant and she finally gave up. "I hate myself Nehal. I still love him!"

"I know." I sat patting her on her back. "You should tell him. He loves you too, you know!"

"He cheated on me!"

"Technically he did not because you guys had called it off again, right?"

The bell to her apartment rang. Her mother had gone shopping and  her brother was at work. "Bro home already?"

"Weird." She got up and opened the door to a very pathetic looking Arvind. He looked like he hadn't slept at all and he was still in his clothes from last night. "Can I please speak with you?"

"No."

"Please, Sanya."

She let him in and he sat opposite from me. "Please be done quickly." She told him and I got up to give these to privacy. "Hey, Neh, don't leave. Stay!"

"This is kind of private.." Arvind began.

"You shut it! Stay Nehal!" She demanded angrily so both of us listened.

Arvind took a deep breath and began. "I took a job." Both of us gaped at him dumbfounded. For all I knew, Arvind was just blowing off his family's money and was hardly interested in working. "I gave some graduation level exams for banks. After an interview last week, I found out I was short listed."

"What?" Sanya was just as surprised and she sat beside me.

"I know Sanya. I had something amazing and I blew it. I thought dating and romancing was what love was all about and I didn't need to do anything. I thought I was giving my hundred percent. Turns out it wasn't even my five percent. You were and always have been mine, please Sanya, tell me, I am not too late? I haven't lost you?"

She stared at him and then at me. She was asking me for answer and how was I supposed to help her here?

He continued anyway, "I took this job for you. You helped me reach my potential Sanya. I can't bear to be apart from you anymore. I was immature and selfish, I am not saying I have changed overnight. I will still be a little immature, sometimes selfish. I might end up annoying you, irritating you. But I will love you as well. I will love you so much, you will have no choice but to forgive me." He fished out a small velvet box from his pocket. "Don't worry, it isn't an engagement ring. It is a little something for someone so important in my life. The engagement part will come when I know you have forgiven me."

She took the box from him and opened it to find a diamond sunflower pendant. Sunflowers are her favorite flowers. Figures.

Gotta give points to Arvind. She placed back the box carefully on the coffee table and got up. "You .. fuck you!"

"What?" Arvind got up as well.

"I can never ever get over you! But this is not fair Arvind. You mess with my brain so much and my heart! I cannot take this!"

"And you don't mess with mine? After dropping you back home last night, I haven't slept a wink! I was just wondering what could have happened to the drunk you if I wasn't there! You were so sloshed Sanya and then your baby carrying best friend ran away with her husband. She was throwing up every second to have time to take care of you. And this one here.. thought it was necessary to show every man in that club her dance moves! No offence Nehal!..

If I wasn't there to drop you home safely anything could have happened! You are my girl and mine only, my job is to take care of you! And now I will, whether you like it or not!!"

Arvind:- 1

Sanya:-0

"Sure you will until we have another fight and you sleep with someone else to take the steam off!"

Arvind:-1

Sanya:-1

"We were not together then. It did not mean anything to me, I felt so horrible after that. I would take watching one of your silly romantic movies with you over that night any day!"

Did he google 'how to flatter my bitter ex-girlfriend' before coming here?

"Let me ask you one thing Arvind. How would you feel if you realized I slept with someone yesterday night? Would you take me back even though we weren't really together when I did this?"

Ooo.

Arvind:-0

Sanya:-100

The door bell  rang and I proceeded to open the door to a very red Anidhi. "Hey, your mom said you are here?" She made her way in and did not notice Arvind standing over there when she said, "I am having triplets you guys! Also Divyam and I are back together! Isn't it amazing he forgave me? He said he knows I love him and I realized my mistake so he will give me another chance!" I smiled at her but Sanya only fumed wildly at Arvind

"Men. We are so mature when it comes to forgiving our ladies." He said.

Our ladies? Is this Arvind speaking? He totally googled now, I know!

"Well she did not sleep with someone else!" Sanya shouted at him.

"Is there something going on?" Anidhi asked me and I gestured her to sit down.

"She couldn't, she is carrying three children in her uterus!"

"Hey! I wouldn't have slept with anyone even if I  wasn't pregnant!" Anidhi said, offended. All of us stared at her. "Well......No no no ! I wouldn't have!"

"Okay, okay." Arvind began and sat down. "It is obvious you are still mad at me." He said to Sanya.

Sanya's expression softened. "Tell me what do you want, please, anything. I know you love me Sanya and I love you. We have been with each for years and I don't want to be away from you ever again."  He pleaded.

"Marry me."

"What?" He asked, astonished.

"She is asking you to marry her." Anidhi piped in.

"I heard her." Then he bent down on his knee. "Are you sure?"

"Yeah, but no down on the knee!" Arvind immedaitely got up. "Tell your family about me and then respectfully come and ask my hand from my brother."

Arvind got up, his eyes brightening. "Done."

"I want honeymoon in Rio De Janeiro."

"Done, baby."

"You need to help us, financially, in planning Anidhi's baby shower. You are loaded and you waste money on partying anyway, you may as well do something."

"Half of it is yours anyway. Or will be soon."  He smiled and proceeded to hug her.

He did until Anidhi proceeded to run for the bathroom but threw up half way. "And you need to clean that." Sanya added. Arvind looked at her like she had grown seven more heads but then he proceeded to as she said.

He cleaned the vomit.

With this romantic gesture (note the sarcasm) he earned Sanya's forgiveness.
