Her blood-soaked coffee-colored hair clung to her face in a horror-themed halo. Her once brilliant caramel eyes now muted with unfathomable trials. She didn't call for aid or shed a single tear, despite the damp, dim surroundings she found herself in. There wasn't a point, there never was. Not a single soul there cared if she persisted or decayed under their relentless pressure. All they sought was information she would rather die than give up. No amount of torture could cause her to succumb.

She knew her fate lay in hands outside these forsaken walls. Time had escaped her long ago, leaving behind a dull ache that could only be the absence of feeling. There was no escape, at least not from within. She had neither the stamina nor incentive to break free from whatever biotic reformatory this was. No, she had to wait for help and that vulnerability consumed her by the day.

The faint murmur of voices caught her ear but not from the corridor beyond her cubical's door. It echoed in her skull, pierced through her soul. A tongue that taunted her waking hours and haunted the ones spent in slumber. It was one she shared a deep intimacy with and had grown too accustomed to as her captivity stretched on. They sought a location, one she would sacrifice her life to protect. Keeping her mouth sealed would produce the outcome she desired, the closing she acknowledged would be hers. All she needed to do was endure.
