"Hi."

A shrill of screams was heard in the Rodriguez   household as soon as Honor greeted the little four  year old.

Brenda comes out when she hears and she tries to hide her smile.

"Maria, what is it?" She asks with hands on her hips.

The little girl Honor learned was named Maria, points at Honor and Brenda lets the smile break through her face.

"That's Honor sweetie."

"I understand why she would be scared." Three heads snap up to see Uriah standing at the top of the stairs.

Honor simply rolls her eyes at his comment.

"Honor! Hi! I didn't get to greet you. Do you guys have time for some cake?"

As Uriah gets ready to object, Honor smiles. "Of course we do. We need to talk about last night's episode and about your love life Brenda."

The four enter the massive kitchen, the kids sit at the bar stools as Brenda serves them cake and ice cream.

"You got married? You have a step-dad? Why wasn't I filled in on this?"

Uriah groans. "Please don't make her tell this story."

Brenda flicks his hair out of his forehead. "Well I met Antonio about six years ago. He has a sixteen year old daughter, Lina."

A sparkle shines in Honor's eyes. "How did you meet?"

"Well, we met at the mall, I was reaching for the.."

As Brenda goes on explaining, Honor listens with attention and they both ignore Uriah's noises of fake gagging.

"That's so cute!"

Brenda proudly shows off her engagement and wedding ring and Honor pouts as she touches the place on her chest where her heart would be.

"He asked me five years ago. We bought this house. Maria then came down the line and the rest is history."

"All those times when you were complaining about school and you could've told me this." Honor scoldes Uriah and he pokes her ribs.

"I doubt I would've done it justice like mom does."

She slaps his chest and turns to him. "So what's Antonio like?"

"Toni is Toni. He makes dad jokes with the occasional good one there. He likes her," He jerks his head towards his mother. "He takes care of all of us."

"Ooh, what about Lina?"

Brenda sighs. "She's not excatly happy with this situation."

"What happened to her mom?"

"Well, she-"

"Wow, you give my life story to someone I don't even know. Can't say I'm surprised Brenda."

The young Latina entering the kitchen clad in a stunning navy blue dress sure makes an entrance.

"Lina." Brenda's voice is stern.

"I think this is the time when we leave." Honor grabs Uriah's bicep.

"Oh by all means stay. It sure seems like the Jones' sure do like you more than me. Especially Uriah here."

"Hey drama queen, get off your high horse. If you would've made half the effort Honor makes and maybe uttered two sentences to me in a month I could become fond of you."

Taken back by Uriah, Lina struggles to come up with a response.

"So this the girl Brenda tells countless stories about. The one that was basically your biggest nightmare."

At the comment, Honor's eyes automatically find the ground more interesting. She hated herself more everytime someone mentioned it.

"How about we reschedule the movie night for another time? I'm-"

"Hey family!"

As Toni notices the atmosphere in the room his eyebrows furrow.

He points at Honor. "You're not family."

Honor smiles brightly. "One day." She muses, her confident self little by little coming back.

She extends her hand. "Honor Newman."

Toni slowly smiles and looks back and forth from Uriah and his wife. "Quite the handshake."

"Thank you."

An easy aura falls in the room, mostly by Honor's doing.

"I'm Toni."

"Oh, the step-dad."

"Also real father but let's go with that for now. You must be the Honor Brenda can't stop talking about lately."

"Hey, my ship is sailing smoothly." The woman in question defends herself.

"Actually the ship has stoped at a shore," Uriah looks at Honor threateningly as she talks. "For reasons your son apparently does not want share."

Lina is still, looking at their exchange feeling bitterly jealous.

"Well since I'm obviously not wanted or needed here, I'm leaving."

"With that report card and attitude you're surely not young lady." Toni speaks. "I'm sorry for this," He turns to Honor.

"Oh it's fine."

"No, it's actually not, how about you get the hell out of my house?"

Lina regretted the words as soon as she said them.

"Your room."

Not wanting to pry into their business no more, Honor remains silent and she feels her hand being squeezed by the four year old in the room.

"Can I show you my room?"

Honor smiles. "Sure."
