"You can go dance with her!"
"Who gave you this much alcohol?"
"Your mom!"
"Brenda is very much content in her own house binge watching Desperate Housewives!"
"Honestly I'd be having more fun doing that with her! At least one of the Jones is fun!"
"You're the one who invited me here!"
"After you threw a hissy fit about it!"
"Hey I had a reason to!"
It was a couple of hours into the party and Honor and Uriah were having a not so quiet fight.
Uriah had gone against his mind and picked up Honor, leaving him drooling at the sight of her.
Once they had entered, they had been plucked away from each other and pulled into different directions.
Of course Honor had found a way back to him and had seen him talking to a girl.
Now, Uriah did not belong to Honor in any way, shape or form. She knew that, but it didn't translate well when she had a little liqour in her system.
She had still gotten mad at him and here they were, having a screaming match that a lot of people were amused by.
"You know what? I don't even know why we're having this conversation. Go fuck her for all I care!"
She really did care though.
"Do they realize that I'm standing right here?"
The girl in question asks no one in particular.
Jacey Zola never thought she could stand a chance against Honor.
While Honor was bold and exciting and she got everyone's attention including Uriah's, Jacey would sulk away in a corner because she was too scared to confess that she too had feelings for a certain a messy haired boy.
So with a little liquid courage she managed to sputter some words to Uriah, making him realize that he did not want a reserved kind of girl.
"I want shots. Who's with me?" Honor turns to the little group of people that had formed around them and a guy steps up grining like the Cheshire Cat.
Uriah rolls his eyes and shakes his head at the pathetic guy.
He circles his fingers around Honor's wrist making her eyes shut in content and her heart fluttering so much she has to stop herself from any unwanted movement.
She wants to just stand there and relish the moment of their skins touching but who wants to be that person at a party?
So instead she doesn't move her hand, she simply let's him lead her to the car where he quietly drives her home.
Does he have any idea just how much that meant to her? How she would sleep feeling like the happiest girl in the world knowing that moment happened?
She doesn't even notice the car is parked in front of her dad's home.
"Oh hell no." She exclaims after she sees where she is.
"What?"
"We're at my dad's house. I'm supposed to be at my mom's right now."
"They-"
"Split up? Yes now drive before my dad sees us. He'll be thinking we're doing something if he sees us."
Uriah's stomach clenches and his cheeks flush a light color of pink.
"So is it hard?" He changes the subject.
"They divorced during the summer so I really can't say, but hey two Christmases, two birthdays and an occasional Hanukkah from my half Jewish grandma all along with two separately happy parents. You really can't wish for more."
"Wow. Didn't except that attitude from you in this situation."
"Well maybe it's time you open your eyes and see me for the person I'm right now."
Honor did mean to lace her words with thornes but she was so tired of everyone at this point that she didn't really care how Uriah took them.
Once they had arrived to Honor's mother's apartment, Honor turns towards Uriah.
"She lives on the seventh floor and old drunk fifth floor Hal will mostly likely be waiting for me outside his door but I can handle him."
"I can walk you up if you want."
Her heart might have just melted.
"No, it's okay. It's not like you're my boyfriend."
But you could be.
"Right." Uriah drawls.
"I'll pick you up tomorrow." She informs.
"How do you know my address?" He doesn't even try to object her.
"Homegirl has connections," She shrugs. "Now go, Brenda might be worried. Say hi to her from me will you?"
And that ladies and gentlemen, girls and boys is how Uriah Jones changes his perspective on Honor Newman.
