06 || Ponyboy, Help me, Please!
Johnny comes back with a small bag of god knows what and I run up to him tackling him into a hug, "hey Johnnycakes."
"Well if it isn't little Brookie," Johnny jokes making us both laugh. "Are you and Pony dating yet?"
"God knows where that boys mind is," I let out a small chuckle trying to cover up the heart break behind it. "I don't know if he cares."
"Are you kidding?" Johnny asks. "He loves you."
"Not as much as you did," I sigh.
He wraps his arms around me, "Brooke what we had was perfect, you're my first love, first girl, first kiss...You'll never find what we had."
"I guess I-I just miss that feeling," I speak softly. "I love you Johnny."
He looks me in the eye and speaks softly, "I love you too Brooklyn, I always will."
I find myself leaning in and I find him doing the same until our lips collide. I wrap my arms around his neck as he wraps his around my small waist, sparks fly, no bombs go off in our mouth and it's a war of passion. I open my mouth and our tongues have a war over who takes the lead as we explore every inch of each other mouth. It feels so right, yet so wrong. As we pull away the guilt starts eating me as I look into his brown eyes releasing, we never fell out of love, "I uh, I gotta go!"
"Brooke, I'm so sorry!" Johnny yells.
I turn around slightly, "not your fault, I just...I gotta go!"
In a few hours we do hair which is terrible. Pony's hair is now short and blonde. My hair is now short and black. Johnny all he had to do is cut his hair, lucky boy. Now I'm standing outside next to Ponyboy and Johnny watching the sunset. "Golly that was sure pretty, huh?" Johnny asks as the sun sets.
"Yeah," Pony nods slowly.
"It's like the mist is what's pretty...Ya know? All gold and silver. Too bad it can't stay like that all the time," Johnny sighs a little at the end.
"Nothing gold can stay," I speak up.
"Huh?" Pony and Johnny both ask turning to look at me.
"Natures first green is gold,
the hardest hue to hold,
her early leaves, a flower,
but only so an hour,
then leaf subsides to leaf,
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day,
Nothing gold can stay."
"Where'd you learn that?" Pony asks. "So what'd it mean?"
"Robert Frost wrote it," I inform him. "I always remembered it because, I never quit knew what he meant by it."

I sit awake in the abandoned church as I watch Johnny and Ponyboy sleep with tears streaming down my cheeks as I hear a car pull up, "do-don't come in! I have a gun!" I yell as I grab the gun Dally gave us.
"Well considering I gave you that gun I'd hope you wouldn't shoot me," I hear a familiar tough New York accent.
"Dallas!" I yell as I run into his arms.
"I thought we were on a nickname bases now," he chuckles as he wraps me tightly in his arms. "I've missed ya Brooke."
"Dally," I hear Ponyboy mumble in his sleep.
"Hey Pone," He smirks as Pony gets up handing Pony a letter. "You got a letter."
"From who?" Pony asks as he opens it.
"The president," Dally jokes. "You're big brother. Who do you think it's from?"
"What does it say?" I ask curiously as Johnny wakes up.
Pony shrugs as he reads it, "Sodapop says to say hi to Johnny and tell Brooke that he really misses her...really"
I smile blushing as I look down, "he's sweet as pie. Ain't he?"
"Lets go get something to eat," Dally stifles a small chuckle. "I'm staring."
Johnny turns to him astonished, "you're starving? Try turkey (I know I changed it) for two weeks!"
Dally lets out a small laugh, "ha, that's funny, let's go to dairy queen."
We sit in the dairy queen parking lot as Dally pulls out a gun. I scream a little, "oh my god Dall!"
"Shut up!" He snaps. "It's fake. Since the death of Bob and you three leaving it's like a full blown war between the Socs and the Geasers."
"Oh my god Dallas," I squeal loudly. "Does the whole gang do this?"
"Nah, but Two-bit, Steve, and Sodapop, all almost got beat the other day and Darry had to chase a ton of Socs away," Dally explains.
"I think I'm gonna turn myself in," Johnny admits. "It ain't far for Darry to be worrying about Ponyboy or for Brooke to be stuck out here with us in this mess."
"What?" Dally yells. "You couldn't of thought of that before we went through all this trouble?"
"I didn't think about it and I don't suppose my parents are too worried," Johnny fires back.
"No, but the boys are worried. You know Two was ready to Texas to find you three! Do you think my old man really gives a damn if I'm dead on the side of the road somewhere? No!" Dally flips out on Johnny and we all just sit there in stunned silence until we get up halfway there and Dally's the one who pipes up. "I'm sorry Johnny, I just get worked up sometime."
"It's alright Dall, I understand," he sighs sadly.
As we pull up to the church we see a fire and for some reason Pony jumps out. "Ponyboy!" I yell running in after him, Johnny close behind then Dally sighing as he gets out of the car.
We all run into the burning church getting out as much children as we can, but when it's time for me to get out I release, I'm stuck and the roof's caving in. "Ponyboy help me!"
"Brooklyn!" I hear a panicked voice, but it's not Ponyboy, it's Johnny. He runs over to me jumping over fire to get to me. "I love you Brooke!" He yells as he pushes me out of the way just in time.
I hear him scream out in pain as Dally pushes me out the window knocking me down and the last thing I hear before being engulfed into a world of black is, "stupid girl!"

"Johnny. Ponyboy. Dallas." I say as I sit up.
"Not so fast," a women says as she lays me back down. "They're in the other ambulance."
"What happened?" I ask coughing slightly.
"You guys saved a bunch of kids from a burning building," she reminds me. "What are you guys undercover heroes?"
"Heroes?" I ask confused. "No we're greasers."
"No way," she gasps.
"You go to town, you'll find out our real quick," I respond. She looks at me taken back as we get to the hospital. I get put in a hospital room.
The door cracks open a little and I look up out to see Johnny getting rushed into a hospital room with wires and tubes attached to him. He's out cold, maybe even dead. A feel hot tears streaming down my cheeks as my world crashes down around me. Ponyboy is god knows where, Dallas is god knows where, and Johnny could be dead. I sit there god knows where in a hospital sobbing my eyes out with short black hair as cops looks for us considering Johnny killed a guy and we ran.
How did everything get so messed up?
