Chapter 27: Believe Me
Hello readers! Sorry for the delay! Been really really busy recently with class work, my new job, and all the stuff going on right now, I haven' t had too much time to write. And well... now I have this done. Kind of got into the mood to write this evening as I sat here with one of my new kitties, Mitro. =) Anyhow, thank Sam for the card idea. It was too perfect to resist. =P

"Not really sure how I feel about it; something in the way you move makes me feel like I can't live without you. It takes me all the way; I want you to stay..." –Stay, Rihanna
Audrey sat down at the Gryffindor table, immediately putting her head down, cradling it in her arms. Tears flowed from her eyes, something that didn't happen very often. It was no secret that the girl was upset. She had just witnessed her husband, the father of her child, kissing her worst enemy. She was at a complete loss then; the girl hadn't even noticed she sat at the wrong table.
The brunette sat there, lost in her own devastation for what seemed like an eternity before she felt someone tap her on the shoulder. The girl looked up only to see an envelope dangling in front of her face.
"Open it!" Nicole's voice urged her.
Although Audrey was visibly upset, she was glad to see both Nicole and Krystie sitting in front of her. Nicole was sitting directly in front of her, waving a pink envelope in frantically in front of Audrey's face. Audrey took the envelope with shaking hands, silently hoping her friends hadn't noticed her tear-drenched face.
She carefully opened it and pulled out a white card. Written on the front of it were the words 'Heard you were pregnant.' That bit puzzled Audrey a little, seeing how she hadn't been able to tell her friends yet. Audrey took a deep breath as she opened the card itself to reveal a single word: 'Whore.' Normally, Audrey would've found that hilarious, but not today.
Audrey set the card back in the envelope as Nicole gauged her friend's reaction. Audrey watched her friends frown. "Why aren't you laughing?" Nicole asked.
"Yea, we thought you would get a kick out of that," Krystie added.
Audrey frowned, shrugging. "Well... for one, I don't know how you guys knew about it."
Nicole smirked. "We knew on the train. You were sooooo off it was hard not for any of us to notice. I just want to know how you didn't know about it."
"Besides... Draco told us the other day at the Quidditch game when you were sitting on the sidelines," Krystie elaborated. "We just didn't want to bring it up then in front of everyone."
Audrey rolled her eyes, hoping that it would prevent her from crying again. But it didn't work; the girl felt tears begin flowing from her eyes once again. Before she could hide it from her friends, Nicole inquired. "Why are you crying? This is a happy time!"
Audrey shook her head, wiping her eyes before answering in a shaky voice, "I saw him kissing Parkinson..."
Both of her friends' jaws dropped when she said that. "He did what?!" Krystie demanded answers.
"You heard me," Audrey muttered, too embarrassed by what happened to even look at her friends. "I should've known..."
Nicole had jumped from her seat. "Where the hell is he at?"
Audrey shrugged. "No idea. I honestly don't care right now..."
Krystie placed a hand on top of her friend's, patting it gently. Admittedly, this shocked Audrey, since she was nearly certain Krystie would've been the one jumping for joy at discovering Draco's infidelity. Maybe she was mistaken. Audrey didn't say anything as she rested her head in her arms again. She honestly didn't know what to say about any of this. It had been a long time since she had been cheated on- and she certainly never seen any of her ex-boyfriends cheat on her while she was right there.
"I swear if I see him, I'm going to deck him," Nicole declared. "Because this is uncalled for. You don't deserve this."
That much she knew was true. Audrey knew that she didn't deserve any of this. And although she wanted to curl up in a ball and die, she knew right now she couldn't let her emotions get the better of her. She had a child to think about, and that was far more important than a stupid boy any day. The girl glanced up just in time to see the person in question practically running towards them. She felt her blood beginning to boil.
"Speak of the devil," Audrey hissed, teeth clenched tightly.
This, of course, caused Nicole and Krystie to turn around trying to figure out what Audrey was talking about. Obviously, it didn't take them very long to lose their cool as Draco grew ever closer to them. Once he was within five feet, Nicole threw a punch, hitting the blond boy directly in the face.
"How dare you?" she asked. "What the hell is wrong with you?"
Before Draco had a chance to answer Nicole, Audrey had stood and pushed her friends aside. "Let me handle this," she announced, her voice still a tad shaky. Nicole and Krystie backed down, moving towards the rest of the Gryffindors in an attempt to let Audrey take care of this issue privately.
"Let me explain," Draco began, almost pleading to her.
"What's there to explain?" Audrey cut him off. "I saw what you did." She paused for a minute as she debated what she was going to say next. "What? Am I not good enough for you? Did you forget everything I've done for you- everything we've been through? Did you forget about your child growing inside me?" Audrey stopped for a second, only this time to catch her breath after rattling off those questions. "Or does that mean nothing to you?" Audrey watched Draco with careful eyes, waiting for his answer.
"No... you're too good for me," Draco admitted. "But please... just listen to me this one time. You know I would never cheat on you- especially with Pansy of all people. Believe me when I say she cornered me and forced that upon me. I could never do that, or anything else to jeopardize the relationship and family I've got with you." The boy's grey eyes began to gloss over with tears; he was trying to hold them back, and he wasn't doing a very good job of it. "I'm sorry I let it happen, Audrey. I truly am."
Audrey watched her husband, studying his features carefully. Could she believe him? Would Pansy really do that? Would he really be so easily cornered by Pansy? As Audrey put all the factors in her head, she sighed and relaxed her shoulders a bit in the process. As angry and upset as she was, Audrey decided she was taking it out on the wrong person. She loved Draco- there was no denying that. He was her everything, and she honestly didn't know what she would do without him. And she wanted to think that he wouldn't betray her like that.
"Alright Draco... I believe you," she finally said quietly. "But I swear if I hear or see it happen again, I might have to revoke my forgiveness. But as for her... she better watch her back now. Because if I see her in the hallway, there is nothing stopping me from gutting her like a fish."
Draco pulled Audrey into a loose hug. "Terrible image there with the fish, but thank you. I don't know what I would do if you hadn't forgiven me. And technically, you do have something stopping you."
Audrey raised an eyebrow. "What's that? The fear of going to Azkaban for murder? Because that doesn't scare me the slightest."
Draco glanced down at Audrey's stomach after giving her a concerned look. "The baby, Audrey."
In her fit of rage, Audrey had nearly forgotten that doing anything as drastic as she wanted to do to Pansy could end up harming the unborn child inside of her. "Well then, I'll have to come up with a better way to combat her," Audrey answered. "And the last thing she wants is me plotting revenge, and it's already too late for that."
Draco just shook his head. "Please be careful, Audrey. I don't want you getting hurt."
"I will be," Audrey retorted.
When Draco pulled away, he noticed the envelope on the table. "What's that?" he inquired.
"Oh!" Audrey snatched it off the table, handing it to him. "Thanks for telling my friends I'm pregnant. Apparently I'm a whore now."
Draco opened the card, and immediately started laughing. "Only your friends would congratulate you like this."
"What would we do without them?" Audrey sighed.
Draco rubbed his face. "Probably not have a broken jaw."
Audrey shook her head, a small smile on her face. Despite the anger and heartbrokenness she had felt earlier, she felt a little better now. But she was still going to kill Pansy when she saw her next.
