Chapter 19: Rest and Relaxation

Hey everyone! Sorry about the delay. >.< I got caught up writing one of my other stories, and sort of neglected this one. That won't happen again, as I have promised myself to get focused on writing this once again. Took me a while to figure out some details with this, but, I'm sure this is much better this way than my original plans were. Thanks to my boyfriend (swaknight) and Kat, I was able to come up with this ingenious idea. Hope you all like it! =)

"I wanna stand with you on a mountain; I wanna bathe with you in the sea. I wanna lay like this forever, until the sky falls down on me." –Truly Madly Deeply, Savage Garden

Audrey held onto Draco's hand as they stood in the backyard of Artemis' manor. She held a small bag of luggage in her free hand. They were getting ready to depart to the mystery location Draco had chosen for their honeymoon. Audrey had no idea where they were going; all she knew was that she was glad they were taking a Portkey. No Apparation, no flying... although using a Portkey was terrifying, it was so much more convenient.

She stared blankly at the garden gnome in front of her, unsure what to think about it. Part of her was excited, yet part of her was incredibly nervous. She honestly wanted to know where they were going; she knew Draco wouldn't tell her, not until they got there. He had managed to hide the location so far; Audrey knew he was certainly not going to spoil it now. She turned to him, waiting on the cue to release his hand and grab hold of the unusual Portkey.

"Are you ready?" he asked quietly.

Audrey nodded. "Whenever you are."

They released each other's hand, each reaching towards the Portkey. "On the count of three," Draco decided. "One... two... three."

On three, both of them grabbed the garden gnome. Audrey braced herself as they went spiraling through the air. Admittedly, the girl had closed her eyes. She did not want to see what was passing her, and hoped that she wouldn't get sick from the circling motion. Soon after the sensation started, Audrey felt her feet touch the ground.

The first thing she noticed even before she opened her eyes was that the air around her was cooler than it was in Dublin. Audrey dared herself to open her eyes, and when she did, she almost instantly had her breath taken away. She found herself standing in the middle of a huge mountain range just as the sun set. A small river flowed gently past their feet. Audrey had never seen a place like this before in her life. She turned to Draco.

"Alright... so where are we?" she asked.

A smile stretched across his face. "We're in the Rocky Mountains, in the United States."

Upon hearing that, Audrey was a bit confused as to why he would have picked some place as random as that in the first place. Draco had never struck her as a rugged, mountaineer type; she had always pictured him in a warmer climate, relaxing on a beach. Though now I know why he told me not to pack a bathing suit, she thought to herself. Not that I didn't bring one anyways. "Why'd you pick here?" she asked.

"Why not?" Draco asked back. "We're in the middle of nowhere. No one knows where we are, how to get a hold of us. We're far away from everyone, and everything that has been stressing us out. We're not in another place with thousands of other couples." He paused for a moment, as he thought out his next words. "I figured if we were out here, we would benefit the most out of this honeymoon of ours."

All of them were really good reasons. Audrey was certainly glad that they weren't having the typical, clichéd honeymoon she often heard about- somewhere in the tropics, spending most of their days hardly dressed and having crazy amounts of sex. For some reason, that just didn't seem like it would be as much fun as the movies and books said it would be. The girl rolled her eyes at the thought, but immediately a smile appeared on her face.

"So, where will we be staying?" she eventually asked.

Draco merely smirked. "Why don't you turn around?"

Audrey slowly turned around, wondering what was going to be behind her. Almost immediately, her eyes fell on a small wooden cabin a few dozen feet away from her, nestled between some pine trees. "Well, isn't that just adorable?" she replied.

"Certainly not as adorable as you are," Draco answered.

Before Audrey had time to retort, she felt herself lifted from the ground. Draco had literally swept her off her feet and had begun carrying her to the cabin. She couldn't help but to giggle a little bit as her husband managed to open the door while carrying both her and their luggage. Once inside, he sat her down on a nearby couch before shutting the door behind them.

He leaned casually against the door for a moment as he dropped their bags next to the door. "I know this doesn't seem as exciting as say... the Bahamas, or wherever the hell Muggles go on vacation, but... maybe it's just me, but I think that this might be a tad more private and intimate."

Audrey sighed. "Believe me when I say that I would much prefer this to the Bahamas."

Draco took a seat next to her. He draped his arm over her shoulders, pulling her close to him. "I'm really glad to hear that. I wasn't sure how much you'd like this."

Audrey gave him a questioning look. "I think you should've known I'd love it. I'm not most girls, remember?"

"True," Draco muttered. He used his free hand to push a few errant strands of hair from his eyes. "Anyhow... I'm really glad you like this. I figured you really needed a break from everything that's been going on recently... your parents' disapproval, those mystery letters, the impending school year... and I thought, why not the mountains?"

Audrey smiled, resting her head against his shoulder. "Well, it was really thoughtful of you. You couldn't have picked a better location. I truly do love it."

Draco rested his head against hers. Audrey felt him take a deep breath, as if he was attempting to relax. Audrey allowed herself to close her eyes once again, only this time not thinking about much of anything. She was going to allow herself to relax, and forget about everything that she had been so stressed about only hours ago. The only thing that mattered at that moment was Draco, and she was going to make sure nothing interfered with her time with him. She wrapped her arms around him, permitting herself to get comfortable on the couch. Or rather as comfortable as she was going to get on the small couch.

After a few moments of her squabbling with herself, Draco pulled his head away from hers, giving her an intrigued look. "You're not comfortable are you?" he asked.

Audrey frowned slightly. "Not completely."

A small smile appeared on Draco's face. He glanced up at the clock on the wall. "Well, considering we've jumped time zones, and we've been up since early this morning, I would dare say it would be alright for us to go to bed at nine o'clock."

Audrey couldn't help but chuckle lightly at that remark. "I suppose you're right. Though I must admit, I haven't been to bed this early since I was a child," she admitted.

"There's a first time for everything," Draco winked, something Audrey swore he had been doing more and more of as of recently. Not that she minded, of course. It reminded her a lot of the Draco she knew a few years ago- the overly-confident, somewhat jerky guy who had somehow managed to snag her attention, whether either of them had known it or not. The past year she had seen a new side to him, a quiet, romantic, and rather nervous individual. Before Audrey had shown up at his mansion, she would've never guessed that he had this other side to him. Draco definitely proved that he was a multi-layered individual, and Audrey supposed that was one thing that she loved about him.

Audrey stood, stretching lightly. "You're right. It has been a really long day for us, hasn't it?" She offered him her hand, helping her husband to his feet. "Bed?"

"Definitely," he replied. He picked up their bags, tossing them gently onto the couch.

Audrey took that cue to get her pajamas on, and began to dig through her bag to find them. Once she found her volleyball shorts and her tank top, she changed without fear right there. There was no more reason for her to be shy, not that she still wasn't doing her hardest to keep herself covered anyways. The girl put her dirty clothes up, and quickly pulled her hair into a messy ponytail before she made her way over to the bedroom. The girl crawled into the bed, pulling the blankets up to her chest. A few moments later, Draco joined her. He immediately pulled her close to him, and regardless to how Audrey was about sleeping in unusual locations, she found herself immediately at ease.

"Tonight is the first night of the rest of our life together," Draco said to her quietly.

Audrey smiled at the thought. The rest of her life she was going to be able to spend with the love of her life. What could be better than that? "It's truly hard to think that not even a year ago we were just getting together, dancing at your birthday party, and the like. Got to admit, despite everything, I'm super glad that we're here, and married, today."

"You and me both," Draco whispered, kissing her cheek. "Let's get some rest, darling. Tomorrow is another day, and the first day we spend as a married couple. It's going to be a blast, but for now, I think we should get some rest."

Audrey let out an involuntary yawn. "Mmkay, good night, Draco. Love you."

"Love you too. Good night," he responded.

Audrey closed her eyes, a smile still lingering on her face. This honeymoon was just the thing she needed. The girl was determined to make the most of the relaxation time she had with Draco. She snuggled up next to him, and soon found herself drifting off into one of the best sleeps she had had in a long time.
