Chapter 37:Like a Damsel or Pushing That Bitch Out the Window
"How did it get so late so soon? It's night before it's afternoon. December is here before it's June. My goodness how the time has flewn. How did it get so late so soon?"― Dr. Seuss

3rd Person's Pov.(Not edited)
Hunter felt bad for lying to December. He didn't want to. It was something he felt was never needed, but he wanted to protect her. He knew at the end of the day that it was either him or her, and he much rather it be him.
He loved her. Loves.
Even after all the pressure from his brother to get her out of his mind, that love wasn't real, that he was being stupid; he still managed to fall in love with her. Or maybe he always was, but that wasn't the point.
The exact words Ryan said replayed through his mind like it was stuck on repeat. "It's simple. You either rot in here with a long sentence once I 'comply' with the police. Or you ditch December, and join back." He chose his words carefully because he knew that we were being watched in this heavily monitored room. Hunter didn't have a lot of time to think about it because December came in immediately after his brother.
But now that he did see her he knew what he had to do. It was better for the welfare of everyone. He wouldn't lose his scholarship—one he didn't tell anyone about because he didn't really see it as that big of a deal. His mom was the one who made him accept it anyway. It was a great opportunity and he didn't want to disappoint anyone by wasting it, not even himself.
After a couple of hours he was finally free on bail. He would go to court in a couple of weeks to see if he would get sentenced with whatever bullshit charges that he was sure the officer would stick him with.
Hunter emerged from the room to face his little sister whose huge, similar hazel eyes were glistening with unshed tears. She ran over to him as soon as she saw him and wrapped her arms around him. December, Anna, and Reylor stood near the door and just watched. Officer Smith walked over with the only cheerful disposition in the whole precinct, and only one willing to un-cuff Hunter.
His mom rolled her eyes and walked out the door knowing that the teens would follow her out. Hunter didn't speak and that nerve-wracked December. She wanted to hit him for lying, kiss him because she wanted to, and cry because she wanted this to just be all over.
"So how was jail this time around, Hunt?" Reylor asked finally breaking the silence, she threw her lengthy black hair over her shoulder, her dark brown eyes focused on him.
"Ahn, it was the same. Rick said hey and to stay out of trouble." His demeanor was calm and level-headed while December was panicking over the sheer fact that he could be charged in a little bit with a crime he didn't commit. That irritated her that he was so calm about it.
Once they got back to Hunter's house the rest of the gang was there sitting at the steps. Hunter pulled December close and she didn't have it in her to push him away right now. The resistance that she had at the beginning of their friendship was way past gone.
After Hunter staying quiet while the gang talked he made sure to be super affectionate. Like she meant he wouldn't keep his hands off her and this was more than usual. It seemed like he was reverting back to before they were dating Hunter--like he didn't remember she was his girlfriend.
That night he just held December in his arms while they slept, she was content there but she doesn't think he actually fell asleep. Hunter just held her tightly letting his mind roam to what would happen tomorrow.
The next morning December woke up to an empty bed. She yawned stretching out her body and eyes searching for her boyfriend. When she saw no trace of him she got up going over to her desk which always held a note about his leaving. She found a sticky note like always and a smile lit up her face, but a frown quickly replaced it when she read it.
Hey December, I love you. I'm sorry that I proved to be everything that I tried so hard to not be. But you ever think that it's who I am and that I was faking, and trying to be someone I wasn't? Goodbye. xHunter
A tear fell from December's eye because she was so confused. It had to do with Ryan, it only made sense. She stopped the waterworks though because being a crybaby wasn't going to solve anything. She would let him come to his senses and he would come back. He always told her that he couldn't stay away, surely he was telling the truth.
She went to vent to Anna and Reylor—who also informed her that he wasn't taking any calls from anyone in the group, not even Tristan.
Meanwhile Hunter was dealing with everything as maturely as he could. He wanted to give into his indulgence, be selfish and keep December but as his brother said—he knew that he had something against him.
When Hunter met him at the warehouse, Ryan clapped him on the back and welcomed him in with a beaming smile. Hunter's face was drained and stoic. He didn't want to be here but what he wanted didn't matter, it was December's safety first. He'd come for her within time. For now he had to get his brother off of his back.
"About time you came back. The fight at the party? That was Isabella here's brilliant plan. She fed that drunk blond idiot who hates you all those words to try to hit you. December's dumb fuck of an uncle coming was just icing on the cake." His chuckle irritated Hunter and he wanted to fight his brother but it still was an uneven advantage with Kalian and Isabella's loyalty to Ryan.
Hunter didn't even flinch at his words. He assumed as much. He sat on the nearest recliner staring at the television.
"It's nice to have you back Hunt," Isabella purred sitting on one of the arms of the chair. She was trying to lean closer but Hunter didn't give a fuck about her or her feelings. He was only here to keep the love of his life out of trouble.
"Get the fuck away from me," Hunter growled pushing her off the chair. When she landed on the floor she glared up at him.
"So you get a taste of high class trash and suddenly you're too good for me?" Her blonde eyebrows clenched together in a pout.
"Don't talk about her," Hunter snarled turning away from the obnoxious group of criminals.
Isabella picked herself up off the floor, her hands wiping at her behind to get the nonexistent dust off. "You'll get over her sooner or later once she moves on. And I'll be here to be the shoulder obviously," She scoffed her lips twisting unattractively.
The whole time Kalian was sitting horizontally across the couch paging through a magazine not caring about what was going on around him.
"Iz, get over him by now. It's not even that serious, like you're borderline obsessive. Besides once Hunter gets over December, he's going to become a loner. It's how it works." Kalian's remiss tone always bothered him. In fact it even bothered Reylor while the two were together.
"Yeah look how Kalian is, now that he's not with Reylor. Got over her fast." Ryan added walking towards the kitchen area.
"Didn't really care about her in the first place honestly. She was just gullible." Kalian didn't even bother looking up from his magazine. He yawned instead, settling more into the couch. Even while he was dating Reylor he never really felt anything for her. It was just something to do, or someone rather.
"You're not going to sit here and talk about my fucking friends." Hunter was seeing red, his attitude was already bad because he had to be there. He didn't want to deal with their constant belittling of his friends and his life.
"I told your little whore that you'd leave and you did just that. You think she'd actually still be okay with you after that?" Isabella plopped by Kalian's feet and shrugged snatching the magazine from his hands.
"I'm only fucking here to do these jobs that you obviously can't do. I'm not here to talk to you, befriend you, certainly not date you," he pointed the last comment at Isabella who was glaring openly at him.
"Ouch, shit. Looks like the suburban girl got into Hunter a little. He has a bit of an attitude." Kalian's flippant attitude was a lot to deal with at the moment. He didn't care about anything. If anything he probably was a damn sociopath.
Isabella disappeared after a while and Hunter just sat there staring at the television not making a sound, waiting for whatever they were supposed to be doing.

December was in her room, all the little notes Hunter had given her at her feet at the bottom of her bed. She had long stopped trying to stop herself from thinking about him and just gave into it. It had been a couple of weeks and she was sure that somehow there would be an explanation for Hunter's whereabouts.
Even his own mother barely saw him and when she did, he was with Ryan. December didn't have it in her to break it to Hunter's mom that Ryan was a terrible person and was peer pressuring Hunter into stealing again. It wasn't her personal business and that was between their family.
December's parents reacted to her Uncle's sentiments of Hunter immediately. They couldn't fathom that their daughter was with such a dangerous boy. It annoyed December like no other. They wanted to believe that he was a good person—the one they'd met, but the Uncle presented facts against him, when December didn't have anything solid to prove his innocence other than a hopefully not guilty verdict. They were conflicted because there was the truth in some of the Uncle's words.
December kept stealing glances at the window hoping that he would hop through at any time. When she finally saw someone coming through she didn't think anything of it. She let her heart get excited at the thought of it being Hunter. When it was the annoying blonde bitch who was always in competition with her she got defensive.
"What the hell are you doing in my room? Didn't you get what you want? He's not here. He's gone." Her hostile tone threw Isabella off, but honestly what did she expect? A cheery smile?
"I had some questions." She rolled her blue eyes and perched on top of December's windowsill.
"I don't care what the fuck you have." December was prepared to push the evil out of her window and not care about the repercussions. But a small part of her wanted to hear the blue-eyed devil before she kicked her out.
"How did you get him to love you?" She rushed out. Her blonde hair was pulled into a ponytail with a front bang. That question caught December off guard for a minute, but then again it made sense from who it was coming from.
"I didn't get him to do anything. If anything it was there since we were children just repressed by Ryan. Hunter and I just connect. Simple as that. Opposites sometime attract." December admitted and when she saw Isabella's eyes blink a little too rapidly, she didn't care for her tears. She could leave and cry for all December cared. "Now get the fuck out." Her thumb pointed in the direction of the window that she could gladly fall out of.
She blinked her tears away when she realized that she wasn't going to get any sympathy tears from her. December didn't care. She could take those tears and shove them.
December closed my window after and locked it. She knew that Hunter wasn't coming or if he was watching that he wasn't going to make himself known.
It was now about a good week after December odd talk with Isabella. She regretted not pushing that bitch out the window, but that's life. When she met the gang at the garage she was greeted by Tristan which was a surprise.
"So I have some good news and some bad news... Which do you want first?"
"Good news first."
"Well the good news is that Hunter is alive and he's been watching over you despite Ryan's wishes. The bad news is that Ryan's condition was for him to leave you alone and join the gang again." Tristan rolled his eyes sitting at the couch and pulling Anna to him.
"So how do you know all this information Tristan?" Anna asked and December was jealous of their affection.
"Well he finally talked to me, I caught him at home. He says to tell you that he's okay and stuff."
"He's an idiot," Reylor commented causing everyone to laugh. Her so sure attitude made December feel better.
"Well his trial is tomorrow so we'll see how that pans out, then we'll do something. Not much we can do right now." Peter commented eating a sandwich in the kitchen.

The sun outside was beaming down angrily and it was a hot day. There were no clouds out to block the blaring beam of light. The courtroom felt like an ominous place, it was uncomfortable, huge, weirdly stuffy, and filled with people that didn't want to be there.
The courtroom that they were in was very quiet not filled to capacity but people were still scrambled around. December never understood the point of random people being at court to sit and watch but there was no point in dwelling on their lifestyle.
The courtroom quieted when the case started and December was practically shaking in anticipation. She had chew up most of her nails and now she had moved on to biting on her lip.
Anna and next to her constantly shaking her leg and Reylor sat to the other side looking as nonchalant as possible. This wasn't her first time in court and she had her hopes high. Or well she told December that she didn't need hope, she knew everything would be fine.
All the words blurred so December couldn't hear a thing that the judge was saying, all she could see was people speaking around her in slow motion. She looked to her right and left watching Anna and Reylor's expressions drop and mouths open. What was happening?
She looked back up towards the judge to see him drop his gable slowly and stand up. She moved her eyes to see her Uncle seething and storm—well slow-mo run out of the court room and Hunter's mom hug him.
Cj was beaming a white bright smile and lifting his fist in the air and that's when the blood rushed from her ears causing her to fade back into present and the regular motion of life.
"I told you not to worry, December!" Reylor cheered doing a little dance.
"Yes, well Ryan definitely didn't win this time." Anna beamed, Tristan standing with a small smirk as his arm dangled around her shoulders.
A familiar face in the courtroom caught December's eye, but this time it wasn't a bad one. Or at least not in her experience. He looked familiar, he looked like Hunter, Muse, and Ryan. He smiled at her before he left the room. It wasn't a creepy one or smile that was threatened. It was genuine and December averted her eyes back at Hunter hoping he knew or at least saw what she did.
He didn't. Hunter was busy speaking with his mother and his attorney about what actions they could do to sue the police department and most importantly one cop in particular.
Hunter stared around the courtroom before finally laying eyes on his love. She was staring at him with a passion that he was sure his look matched.
"Why don't you go talk to her? She's been asking about you for weeks now." His mom gently nudged him but his feet were firmly planted and he took his eyes away from December.
"It's for the better that I don't." He lifted one side his mouth quickly as in a short smile type of way. His mother quirked an eyebrow up at her son, something was going on with him and she had no idea what. She didn't know how he'd gotten in trouble again. Being with December kept him quiet, he seemed much happier.
Ryan on the other was always a problem child. She had no idea what she'd done wrong as a parent to make him so adamant on hate. She gave him all the love in the world although he rejected it. Yes she knew that it had somewhat of an effect on Hunter too, she knew that his heart was a little more pure and wouldn't let his brother have too much influence. But when her mother spoke of her eldest son, she didn't know what to think.
December left the courtroom after Hunter looked away from her. She didn't know what was going on with him. She saw how he looked, she knew he didn't just willingly stop being around her, she wasn't that dumb. But she did want him to at least acknowledge her, say something!
She walked out into the empty halls of the courtroom. Walking passed she sat on an empty bench, letting out a breath.
A hand reached out putting a red cloth across her nose, she struggled to get free trying to fight off the attacker but it was no use. The chloroform already was doing its job. December's last thought before she passed out was: Why do I feel like such a damsel?
I drove for miles just to find you and find myself, only screams all these voices in my head. You gave me strength gave me hope for a lifetime, I never was satisfied. This time won't you save me, this time won't you save me. Baby I can feel myself giving up.-Nicki Minaj, Save Me
The leaves, they don't change here. The leaves don't change here, so I never saw it coming. Winter hit me, Hiroshima, where did the sun go? Just the cruel rain pouring, you say that it's over How could it be over, when I never saw it coming? Sweet California, sour California.-Miguel Leaves
