His phone began to ring. Alex's phone began to ring and I swear my heart dropped. Who knows maybe it's just one of the other guys in his band? Maybe it's Matt! Matt and Al have been close since grade school!

Alex grabbed his phone and pulled it out. His entire face went blank, even his eyes. He gave me a hesitant look and stepped outside my room to answer the phone.

" Hey-uh..yeah hey babe... "

Babe.

My heart shattered. I began to tear up even though all I could think about is why I was even sad. Alex  said we would be friends. He never said anything about being in a relationship again.

I shouldn't be upset over such a simple word. I should be happy that Alex found someone. But of course, I'm upset. I tried to not listen in on the conversation but I  couldn't help myself.

" Y-Yeah Ella 'm sorry I just lost track of time I guess? " he whimpered out.

I frowned at the tone of his voice and continued to listen.

" N-No no no I'm sorry Ella really please I-...yes...yes okay...y-yes...bye " he paused for a moment and then huffed out a sigh.

I heard him walk back towards my room so I curled up and pretended that I didn't hear a word he said. He stepped into the room and gave me a weak smile.

" Eh...'t was my bird who's dating me for the press...she's a bit...er " he started.

" Controlling? " I finished his sentence for him.

He nodded and looked away shyly. He sat on the bed and pulled me into his arms. I hesitated before curling into him and relaxing. Do I really believe him?

He rubbed circles into my side and murmured, " Do you feel better? "

I nodded and peeked up at the gorgeous boy. His shining eyes hid behind long eyelashes. His hand fidgeted nervously with my shirt and I could feel his fingers shaking.

" I have to go see her " he whispered.

He almost seemed scared but I disregarded that as my jealously flared up.

" Oh, " I grumbled, pouting and crossing my arms.

He chuckled and poked my sides causing me to jump.

" Is somebody jealous? " he whispered huskily into my ear.

I gulped and blushed, looking away.

He chuckled again and stood up," Come with me...we can go hang out with the guys. "

Now when I agreed I didn't know that ' hanging out with the guys ' also meant having to sit next to Alex's girlfriend Ella and hear her talk to me for three hours while Alex and the rest of the guys played video games and yelled on about random crap.

Of course, the dim-witted brunette that decided to talk non-stop didnt seem to understand what being mute was as she kept asking me why I wasn't talking.

" Ella leave him the fuck alone he doesn't talk! " Alex finally yelled in an exasperated tone.

Ella pouted and watched as Alex grabbed me and pulled me into his lap. I blushed slightly, knowing that Ella was probably glaring at me just like she did when she met me earlier today.

Alex rested his chin on my head and continued to play. I smiled and leaned back into him, relishing in his unending warmth.

" You feelin' ok Arrow? Want a water? " Nick asked me while he stood up.

I nodded shyly and he smiled at me. The other guys told him what they wanted and he went to get it. The game was paused for a bit while Nick went to get something.

Ella came up to Alex and rested her hand on his shoulder. My body heated up with anger.

" Alyyy babyyy " Ella whined in a whiny and mischievous tone.

" Wha' do you want Ella? " Alex groaned, glaring at the girl.

Ella gave him a harsh look. I watched her cautiously. Maybe she wasn't used to Alex being this disobedient? What a bitch, I thought to myself.

" Outside...now.. " Ella growled under her breath.

Alex shuddered but didn't reply. He held me tighter and rubbed my side.

" Wanna go for a smoke, love? " he asked me.

I nodded quickly, desperate to escape the tension growing in the room. Alex moved me off his lap, standing and helping me up. We began to walk out. Someone shot their foot out and I tripped slightly but Alex caught me like the gallant hero he is.

He had the audacity to give me a smirk, looking at me as if I couldn't have saved myself from falling. I scoffed and pushed him. He giggled and hugged me from behind.

We stepped outside and sat on the cold porch steps, damp from rain. He pulled out a cigarette, lighting it and inhaling the smoke. He handed it to me and I did the same, instantly feeling calmer.

I began to shiver after a while so Al pulled me into his lap. I wrapped my legs around him and he froze up at the contact. I curled into him and he relaxed, smoking his third cigarette. I looked up at the tired boy.

His eyes had dark half moons underneath them and his whole face was devoid of color. His eyebrows were furrowed and his eyes were dark.

" Why're you starin at me, love? " Alex questioned with a smile dancing on his lips.

" Oh uh.. " I began to stutter out, my voice hoarse from not talking.

He leaned down, resting his nose on mine. Our lips were inches apart. I stared at him in fascination. Did he have the guts to do it?

" Al- " I started.

" ALYYYYY!! " I flinched at the girl's horrid voice. 

Alex flinched back and the darkness returned to his eyes. He looked away, murmuring a sorry.

I ignored his concerned apology and relaxed into his chest. The front door opened and Ella cane out, a fake ass smile plastered on her face. I hid my face, not wanting to see the sickening girl.

She began to argue with Al but I could barely hear her as I began to block everything out. Her yelling eventually got through my ears and I started to shake. My throat closed up and everything felt like it was fading away, like I was in a bubble floating away, unable to hear the harsh voices.

" Row... " Alex's voice called me out of my trance.

I flinched and looked up at the boy. He looked like he was hiding his emotions but I could still see worry in his eyes.

" Get him off your lap or I'll drag him off! " Ella whined.

I flinched, eyes widening and tears filling my eyes. Alex shook his head and looked down but not before giving me an apologetic look.

Was he gonna move me? Was he gonna yell? I'm so scared.

" Fuck off Ella..." Alex murmured.

That seemed to be the last straw for the stupid girl. She gripped the back of my jacket and ripped me away from Alex. She basically threw my lightweight body into the rain that was soaking the path up to Nick's house.

I cried out in pain as I hit my tailbone but I tried to stop the noises. Noises are bad. No more noises.

" Ella fucking stop! " Alex yelled.

I heard a crunch and Alex whimpered in pain.

" Al!! " I yelled.

Ella stared over at me in shock. I stood and ran over to Alex the best I could. He had blood running down from his nose and a harsh look in his eyes.

Ella came over and grabbed Alex, gripping his arm tightly and pulling him inside. I gripped onto him but she shook me off, dropping me into the rain again. Alex was pulled inside with a scared look on his face and the door was closed, leaving me alone in the cold.

I looked up at the sky and saw snow. Snow that wasn't due for another month. Snow that soaked into my inadequate clothing.

Snow...that froze my entire body and left me feeling emptier than I did this morning.
