Chapter 6: Worries
-Hiccup-
"You haven't seen Astrid since the last time we were here? Come on dad! I refuse to believe that!" I yelled at my dad. "I didn't fly 34 hours for some information that useless!"
He shrugged as he continued cutting his chicken. He put a piece of it in his mouth.
"Sorry son, but you have no choice but to believe me, chief duties take up a lot of time you know" Dad noted as he swallowed the piece he had stuck in his mouth.
"I've asked EVERYONE on Berk if they've seen Astrid! Everyone!"
"How did you ask Gothi?" Dad wondered.
"She wrote so fast that I couldn't understand a thing" I sighed.
"What about Astrid's parents?" Dad questioned as he cut off another piece of the chicken and stuffed it into his mouth.
I slouched down on the chair in front of me, which was on the opposite side of the table from my dad.
"They're out of town, on a fishing trip, so it's pretty hard to ask them" I told dad as I rested my head into the palm of my hand.
"Sorry that I can't help you, son" Dad said as he ate another piece of the chicken.
"It's really weird that no one has seen her the four days she has been here"
"Four days? The Hoffersons went out fishing two days ago" Dad informed me.
I shot up from the chair.
"And you decided to tell me this now, and not in the first place?!" I said to my dad, sounding rather angry.
Dad shrugged.
"I figured I'd let you talk"
I growled.
"Goodbye dad!" I said as I stormed towards the door.
Just as I was about to push it open, my dad stopped me.
"You should stay the night, Hiccup. It's not very wise to fly around in the middle of the night, especially when Toothless is as tired as he is and not to mention, but I figure you haven't slept for a while as well" Dad said as he gestured to Toothless who was sleeping peacefully by the pot in the middle of the room.
"You don't understand dad!" I said as I walked back over to the chair I had previously sat on. "All I want is to apologize to my girlfriend"
"I understand, Hiccup, I was just like you at your age. I was just as crazy for your mother as you are for Astrid" Dad sighed as he took another piece of the chicken.
I sighed.
"I think I'll just go to bed, see you in the morning" I said as I got up from the chair and walked up the stairs to my old bedroom.
As soon as I laid down in my bed, I realized how tired I was, and as soon as I closed my eyes, I drifted off to sleep.
I was woken up by Toothless' screeching.
I shot up from my bed and ran downstairs.
"What is it, bud?" I asked the dragon that was pushed up against the wall.
I looked over at his bucket with fish and noticed something that shouldn't be there.
I took the black and yellow eel out of the bucket and threw it out of the front door, making sure it didn't land in the steps that lead up to my dad's house.
"You would think that after so many encounters with eels, you wouldn't react this way, but nooo, you just had to wake me up from my slumber so I could get covered with fish slime" I said, not in the best mood.
Toothless purred and cuddled up against me.
"Ah, you know I can't resist that! I said as I scratched him under his chin. "Now, go eat your fish so we can get going, we don't have all day!"
Toothless waddled over to his bucket with fish while I dug up some bread from my yellow satchel.
