Chapter 4: Regrets

-Hiccup-

It has been about four days since I found Astrid's note.

Normally, Astrid would've been back by now, but she wasn't.

So I took the matter into my own hands.

I put the last things I needed into my yellow leather satchel.

"There" I said to myself.

I walked over to Toothless who was eating his lunch out of a bucket in the corner.

I attached my satchel to the side of his saddle.

"Are you ready to go, bud?" I asked the Nightfury.

He turned around and gave me the are-you-serious-look as he slurped down one fish.

"Eat up and then we'll leave!" I told him.

Just as I had said that, someone knocked on my door.

I sighed.

"Come on in!"

In waddled a rather large blonde Viking with a book held tightly to his chest.

I smiled at him.

"Hey Fishlegs! How can I help you?" I asked.

"Well first—"

Fishlegs looked around the room and then saw my yellow satchel attached to Toothless.

"What happened? Where are you going? Is it dangerous?" Fishlegs began asking lots of questions.

I frowned and walked over to the satchel that was attached to Toothless.

I opened the satchel and dug around for the note.

I found it and took it up.

I handed it to Fishlegs.

As he began reading it, I decided to explain.

"I found it four days ago. I decided not to do anything about it before now because... well, she should be back by now" I told him.

He nodded.

"I did notice that something was missing, but I couldn't quite put my finger on it"

I took the note from him and stuffed it back into the satchel.

"Do you want us to come with you?" Fishlegs asked.

I furrowed my brows.

"That won't be necessary, but thanks anyway Fishlegs. I'll see you tomorrow?"

Fishlegs nodded.

"Oh, and by the way, while I'm away, you're in charge!" I told him as I pushed him out of my door.

"Okay! I'll inform the others! Good luck, Hiccup!" Fishlegs said as he ran as fast as his short legs could run.

I chuckled and turned around to face Toothless.

He tilted his head as if he was wondering if we were going to leave soon.

"Are you ready, bud?" I asked him.

He jumped up and down.

"Calm down! I'm not going to be able to mount you if you jump around like that!" I chuckled at the dragon.

He stopped and smiled with his gummy smile at me.

I scratched his head.

"Come on, bud! Let's go" I told Toothless as I had strapped myself to him.

Toothless ran out the open door and began flapping his wings as soon as his paws reached the dye of the wood planks we usually walked on.

Toothless flapped his wings.

He would occasionally glide between flapping his wings.

After we had been flying for a short while, I decided to lean over an open the yellow satchel.

I took out a piece of paper and studied it for a while.

It was a drawing.

A drawing of Astrid that I drew a couple of weeks ago.

Astrid told me that it was amazing and that it really looked like her, but at the time I didn't agree.

Now however, I could finally see its resemblance to Astrid.

Her beautiful smile, and her beautiful blonde hair that had a tendency to blow straight into her face as we watched the sunset together.

"Gods, Astrid" I said to myself. "I promise that I will never fight with you again"

It was horrible to be honest, not being able to see her every day, and the worst part is that the last time I saw her, she was really mad at me...

I just want to hold on to my hope of her not being pissed the next time she sees me.

It would be nice to hold her in my arms again, for sure.

Ah, I can't wait to see Astrid again.
