Chapter 12: Caldera Cay
-Hiccup-
We flew in a circle around the island of Caldera Cay.
This is the place Heather told you to go, maybe you're lucky and she's actually here?
I wanted to trust myself, but at the same time, deep down, I knew that she wasn't there.
But it's worth a shot, isn't it?
I decided to follow my mind.
"Follow me, gang!" I told the gang, they nodded and followed me.
We landed right in front of Queen Mala's throne.
She smiled at us.
We all dismounted our dragons.
"Queen Mala, it's been a long time" I told her, bowing. The gang followed my example and bowed as well.
"It indeed has been a long time, Hiccup Haddock" She said as she raised up and walked down the stone stairs. "Now, what brings you here, Hiccup?"
I furrowed my brows.
"I have a feeling that you know why"
"What makes you feel that?" Mala asked as if she knew nothing, even though it was practically written all over her face.
And I have had my dose of this little game, so I kind of knew that she was going to tell me where to go next.
"The fact that I've been flying all over the archipelago because someone told me I would find my missing girlfriend somewhere"
A slight smile crept over Mala's face.
"Well, Hiccup Haddock, she was indeed here the other day" Mala started.
"And?" I asked, hoping that she would say something different from what Heather and Fishlegs had said.
"She told me that you should go to Outcast Island" Mala told us.
I sighed and rubbed my temples.
"I swear, if she wasn't my girlfriend I wouldn't be doing this" I whispered to myself, pretty darn annoyed.
Toothless' stomach rumbled and he began making a cooing sound.
I took a deep breath and turned back to Mala.
"Do you think we could stay here for a short while just so we can get more energy?" I asked Mala, trying not to sound annoyed.
She nodded.
"Of course! Come on, follow me" Mala said.
"FINALLY! I'm starving!" Snotlout exclaimed, while waving his hands all over the place.
I rolled my eyes at him.
How can we be related?
As we entered Caldera Cay's Meade hall, we were met by maybe a hundred pairs of eyes staring us down.
"Do not worry!" Mala told her people. "They are our guests"
Mala's people turned back around to their food and practically ignored us.
Our dinner was fish and potatoes and it was really good, but my mind was set on other things.
I had been thinking about the time gap between the places that Astrid had been to.
She left Berk two days before I got there.
And then she left Dragon's Edge, and it took her a couple of days to get to Berserker island.
"Mala?"
"Yes, Hiccup Haddock?"
"When did Astrid arrive here?"
"Two days ago, why are you wondering?"
"No reason" I said and got up from the table.
"Where are you going?" Tuffnut asked me.
"I need to think a little, see you later" I told Tuffnut and the rest of the gang.
As soon as I left the Meade hall, I noticed that the daylight had turned into moonlight.
"Great" I sighed. "Now we have to stay"
I shook my head and went back to my theory.
I went to the beach and sat down in the warm sand.
"It wouldn't take Astrid two days from Dragons Edge to Berserker island and two days from Berserker island to Caldera Cay" I said grabbing my chin.
"Unless something happened to Stormfly!" I exclaimed as I shot up.
"I need to ask Mala if she saw Stormfly!" I told myself.
My loud thinking was interrupted by a certain Nightfury.
He cuddled up to me and purred.
"Hm... you're right, maybe I should, calm down... if Astrid was in trouble, she wouldn't send me all over the archipelago, right?" I looked down at Toothless, and then I gazed over at the sea.
"Right?"
