Last Time:
"Do you want me to give you a tour of the monastery? I'll be happy to take the time out of my day to help you." Edelgard questioned while adjusting her glove. Byleth considered his options for a second, and then nodded.
The white-haired young woman then walked forward to begin Byleth's tour, with the teal-haired professor following behind. Byleth seemed to soften his eyes very slightly when he was talking to Edelgard. It didn't seem to be noticed by anyone, but only one person noticed it. The person narrowed his eyes, and then followed after the two.
That person had black hair, and lime green eyes.—————————————————————————————————————————————————
8th of the Harpstring Moon, Garreg Mach Monastery, Marketplace (Early Evening), Imperial Year 1180
Three students in the uniform of the Officer's Academy were seen walking around in the marketplace. They all appeared to be from the same house of students, since the three students were all very cordial with each other. The students, all young women, were carrying bags on their arms, shopping for whatever they needed.
The first young woman was around seventeen years of age. She was wearing a normal uniform of the Officer's Academy. The young woman had dark blue hair, with blue eyes. Beside her was another young woman that was around the same age as her.
The second young woman was also around seventeen years of age. She was wearing a silver variant of the Officer's Academy uniform. The second young woman had turquoise hair, and also had blue eyes.
The third young woman of the group was around twenty-two years of age. She was wearing one of the uniforms of the Officer's Academy, but with a personal touch. She had pinkish-blonde hair, and light purple eyes.
"Do we have everything?" The turquoise-haired young woman asked while the group was walking back to the monastery.
"We do, Blythe, don't worry." The blue-haired young woman said to Blythe. She then gestured to the pinkish-blonde haired woman to Blythe's right. "Mercedes made sure to check before we left."
"Celine's right. I checked before we began to walk back to the monastery." Mercedes agreed with Celine's statement. She then hummed quietly to herself. "How are we going to get all of this done before the end of the day tomorrow?"
"We could get the other Blue Lions involved." Blythe and Celine said at the same time. The two friends then smiled to each other. Celine added on to both her and Blythe's statement. "I could also spend time with Annette, to keep her away from the monastery until the proper time."
"I could get Dimitri and Ingrid to help me set up the decorations in the classroom once class is done." Blythe told her female best friends. The turquoise-haired young woman glanced down to her feet, and looked back up. "I can ask the Professor...still getting used to saying that...if we can use the classroom for Annette's birthday party."
"Those are good ideas." Mercedes responded. "Dedue and Ashe could probably help me in the kitchen. They could make the savory dishes, while I make my homemade sweets."
"What about Felix and Sylvain?" Celine questioned while thinking of the Fraldarius male and the Gautier heir. Blythe chuckled while saying, "Based on how the Professor ended class today, I think he has a plan for both Felix and Sylvain after class tomorrow."
"But if not..." Mercedes started, and then continued with, "Sylvain could help Blythe, and Felix could help Celine."
The three young women then arrived back at the monastery, excited for the next day.—————————————————————————————————————————————————
9th of the Harpstring Moon, Garreg Mach Monastery, Blue Lions Classroom (Afternoon), Imperial Year 1180
All of the Blue Lions were currently in class, in their proper seats, listening to Byleth as he was about to start his lecture. He began the lesson with giving birthday wishes to Annette, and the orange-haired mage responded with a "Thank you, Professor."
Blythe and Celine nodded to Mercedes, and the pinkish-blonde haired young woman winked in return. After the little wordless exchange, the three young women paid attention to the lecture that Byleth was giving.
"Now, authority is one of the most major skills that anyone in a leadership position needs to master." The teal-haired professor said to the class. He then asked the class a theoretical question. "If a leader did not assert the proper authority over his or her men, what could be the result?"
Annette's hand shot up into the air with almost blinding speed. Byleth pointed the piece of chalk that he had in his hand to Annette, which was his signal for her to answer the question. The orange-haired young woman then did so. "If he did not give enough authority, the men would refuse to follow the commander's orders."
Byleth nodded in response to Annette's answer. He then noticed his sister's hand raise up after Annette finished. "Do you have anything to add, Blythe?"
Blythe gave an affirmative gesture afterwards. She then lightly adjusted in her seat while saying, "Authority can also be used in a negative way. If that same commander asserts too much authority on their men, the men could revolt in protest."
"Both valid points." Byleth praised Blythe and Annette. "There is a fine line between too little authority and too much authority. The perfect amount of authority is what you all need to reach before the end of the year."
After going through a few examples of how authority is used in the modern day, the bell tolled. Once the students of the Blue Lions were packing up their things, Blythe went up to her brother.
"Um...Professor?" Blythe started to say to her brother before he turned around. Once Byleth finished turning around, the turquoise-haired young woman asked her question. "Since Annette's birthday is today, Mercedes, Celine, and I were wondering if we could have Annette's birthday party in the classroom?"
Byleth thought for a few seconds, and then nodded in the affirmative. "I'm guessing that you three have already decided what to do."
"We have." Blythe responded.
Once she got the go-ahead from her brother, Blythe lightly ran over to Celine and Mercedes, who were waiting by one of the walls of the classroom. Blythe told her female best friends what Byleth said.
The group of females separated to do their separate roles. Mercedes told Ashe and Dedue to follow her to the kitchens, and Byleth followed them to help if needed. Blythe grabbed Dimitri's wrist lightly, and then told Ingrid and Sylvain to stay back. Celine walked over to Felix and Annette, and walked out with them to go hang out.—————————————————————————————————————————————————
9th of the Harpstring Moon, Garreg Mach Monastery, Blue Lions Classroom (Late Afternoon), Imperial Year 1180
A few minutes after the other Blue Lions had left, Blythe had released Dimitri's wrist, and was standing in a small circle with herself, Ingrid, Sylvain, and Dimitri. Both Sylvain and Ingrid were confused about why they are still in the classroom, while Dimitri had a guess based on the conversation between Blythe, Celine, and Mercedes five days prior. Since she was confused, the blonde-haired Galatea asked Blythe, "What are we still doing here? I thought class was over?"
"Class is over, but I wanted to do something in here." Blythe replied. Everyone gave her curious glances with varying degrees. The turquoise-haired young woman then explained, "You all know that it is Annette's birthday today. Mercedes, Celine, and I wanted to throw her a birthday party. Each of us have our separate roles, and mine is to decorate the classroom."
"So that's what the ladders are for over there." Dimitri said while pointing to the ladders leaning on the wall. Blythe nodded in response. "We're going to split up into groups of two. One of the group members is on the ladder, while the other one holds the ladder steady."
"You're on the ladder, Sylvain." Ingrid said while crossing her arms and looking at Sylvain. The red-haired Gautier rolled his eyes while putting his hands behind his head.
Blythe and Dimitri looked at each other and nodded. Both of them then separated the decorations into two piles, and Dimitri brought one pile over to Ingrid and Sylvain. Once he walked back, Blythe organized their pile of decorations and set up the ladder.
"Be careful..." Dimitri told the turquoise-haired Eisner as she was preparing to climb the ladder. Blythe looked back at Dimitri and smiled reassuringly. "I'll be fine. Besides, if anything were to happen, you would catch me."
Dimitri nodded uneasily in response. He had this nagging feeling that something was going to go awry. The blond-haired prince held the ladder steady as the turquoise-haired Eisner climbed the ladder, and started to hang the decorations from the ceiling.
Blythe went up and down the ladder without any problems, placing decorations in their proper spots as she went along. Once the put up the last decoration in the pile that she and Dimitri had, the turquoise-haired young woman started to descend down the ladder. On the way down, that was when it happened...
She missed a rung of the ladder.
Blythe lost her grip on the sides of the ladder, and fell down with a startled yell! Dimitri heard Blythe's yell, and snapped his head up to Blythe. The blond-haired prince threw the ladder away from him, and sprinted forward with incredible urgency. He threw his arms out in front of him, and caught Blythe just in time!
"Are you alright!?" Dimitri asked right after he caught the turquoise-haired Eisner. Blythe nodded back with her eyes still closed in fright. "You can open your eyes now, Blythe."
Blythe's eyes fluttered open, and she looked up to see Dimitri looking down at her with a relieved smile. Although, when she looked at Dimitri's eyes, she could see that he was still concerned.
The turquoise-haired young woman then noticed the way that Dimitri was holding her, and lightly blushed. He caught her bridal-style, and was still holding her like that. "Umm...Dimitri? Can you put me down, please?"
"Oh, right..." Dimitri replied once he noticed the position they were in. With slightly red ears and a light blush, the blond-haired prince set down the turquoise-haired young woman. "Sorry."
Blythe responded back with a small smile, signifying that it was okay. They stayed like that until both of then heard footsteps coming towards them. "Blythe, Your Highness! Are you both okay!?"
"We're alright, Ingrid." Blythe said as the blonde-haired Galatea ran up to them. Sylvain stayed behind, and was still setting up the decorations.
Dimitri walked over to the ladder that fell, and leaned it back up against the wall. "Although it was a bit of a fright, everything turned out okay."
"I'm glad that everything ended up okay." Ingrid responded to both Blythe and Dimitri's statements. All four of the students in the classroom then waited for the other Blue Lions to return, since they had finished decorating the classroom.

9th of the Harpstring Moon, Garreg Mach Monastery, Blue Lions Classroom (Early Evening), Imperial Year 1180
About forty-five minutes had passed since Blythe, Dimitri, Ingrid, and Sylvain had finished decorating the classroom. All four of them were waiting for the rest of the Blue Lions to come back to the classroom, especially Mercedes' group. Mercedes' group was going to bring back the food from the kitchen, and also bring Annette's presents from Mercedes' room.
Blythe and Ingrid were studying together, with Blythe having her book of class notes in between them. Sylvain was looking out of the window, a sad look on his face. He seemed to be reminiscing on something from his past. Dimitri was leaning by the door of the classroom, looking at Blythe. The blond-haired prince was also keeping a lookout for Mercedes' group, which was why he was at the door.
Dimitri heard four pairs of footsteps coming across the grass. The footsteps sounded like they were coming towards the Blue Lions Classroom. Dimitri stood up from where he was leaning on the wall, and poked his head out of the classroom. Once he saw who it was, the blond-haired prince exited the Blue Lions Classroom. "Professor, Dedue, Mercedes, Ashe."
All of them gave their various forms of greeting. Mercedes and Ashe were carrying food that they made, while Dedue and Byleth were carrying Annette's presents. Ashe looked like he was struggling a little with the weight of the stew in his hands, so Dimitri took it out of Ashe's hands with the boy's permission.
The five people then walked into the Blue Lions Classroom. Mercedes and Ashe walked over to Blythe and Ingrid. Ashe and Ingrid struck up a conversation, while Blythe picked up her notebook and had a conversation with Mercedes.
While the four Blue Lions were having their conversations, the other three Blue Lions walked over to a table in the classroom. Dimitri set the stew down on one end of the table, while Dedue and Byleth set the presents down on the other end of the table. Mercedes and Blythe then walked over to where Dimitri, his retainer, and the Professor were. The pinkish-blonde young woman put down the basket that she was holding, which had the plates and silverware inside, along with the sweets.
"Now we just have to wait for Annie, Celine, and Felix to get back." Mercedes said after she set up the food with the help of Dedue. Blythe and Dimitri nodded in agreement while Ingrid, Ashe, and Sylvain walked over to the rest of the Blue Lions.
All of them faintly heard three pairs of footsteps, along with a voice. They heard a female voice ask, "How has your birthday been so far, Annette?"
"It's been amazing!" Annette replied back. She then said to a male, "Thanks for being there too, Felix."
Felix gave a lighthearted "Hmph." back to the orange-haired mage in response.
Mercedes and Blythe looked to each other with widened eyes. They came back sooner than Blythe and Mercedes thought! Blythe whisper-shouted to the class. "Everyone! Hide!"
Blythe, Mercedes, and Dimitri hid behind the seats closest to the door. Sylvain, Ingrid, and Ashe mirrored them on the other side of the aisle. Byleth elected not to hide, but he acted like he was grading papers at his desk. Dedue set up the ruse that he was helping Byleth, since he could not fit behind the benches without being seen, as a result of his height. Once Annette stepped into the classroom, the six hidden burst out of their hiding spots while yelling, "Surprise!"
"What!?" Annette gasped, her eyes full of surprise. Felix walked from behind Annette to where Sylvain and Ingrid were, while Celine did the same as Felix, but to Blythe and Mercedes. Byleth and Dedue ceased their ruse, and joined the class. Mercedes smiled widely while saying, "Happy birthday, Annie!"
"You guys..." Annette trailed of with a smile. Celine looked over to Blythe while saying, "This was Blythe's idea."
"My idea? It was yours and Merce's idea, I just helped with it." Blythe responded to the blue-haired swordsman. Annette smiled while running forward to hug Blythe, Mercedes, and Celine in a group hug. All three hugged the orange-haired girl back.
After that, Mercedes and Celine both grabbed one of Annette's hands, and brought her over to her food and presents.
Annette wanted to open her presents first, and the class let her do so. She got a book of magical theories from Blythe and Byleth, and a notebook to accompany that from Celine. Ingrid and Ashe gave her writing utensils, and Dimitri, Dedue, and Sylvain gave her a hair clip. Mercedes gave her a handwrapped box of the pinkish-blonde's sweets. Annette's favorite gift, though, was a wax diptych given to her by someone who would prefer to stay anonymous, but he was someone who preferred to give practical gifts.
After the presents were opened, the Blue Lions are the meal that Mercedes, Ashe, Dedue, and Byleth prepared. The meal was Spicy Fish and Turnip stew, with a big batch of Mercedes' homemade sweets.
About ten minutes later, everyone was done eating, and some started to clean up the decorations from the classroom. Blythe offered to help, but Dimitri told her that she should relax with Annette, Mercedes, and Celine. Blythe smiled and went back to the three.
"What was that about?" Celine asked while looking at Blythe. Mercedes and Annette were sitting beside each other, while Celine and Blythe took a seat across from them. "We know how Dedue helped Mercedes with her almost kitchen disaster, and how Felix carried Annette's bags earlier, but that's unknown."
Blythe looked to Dimitri, who was on a ladder that was being supported by Byleth. Oddly reminiscent of the situation earlier in the day, but without the falling. "I fell from the top of the ladder earlier. Dimitri caught me, but I think he might not want me on a ladder for a little while, just to be safe."
Blythe then looked back at the three after seeing their reactions. They talked until the Blue Lions left the classroom, and then went to their dormitories.—————————————————————————————————————————————————
11th of the Harpstring Moon, Garreg Mach Monastery, Outside of Student Dormitories (Afternoon), Imperial Year 1180
The students of Garreg Mach Monastery have started to have a free day every Sunday, and this day was no exception. Thanks to Edelgard the week prior, Byleth now had a good handle of how the monastery was laid out. He needed it, since he was all over the monastery doing things that other members of the monastery needed help with.
He helped Seteth with gathering information on the Western Church, although the teal-haired professor had no clue what the difference between the churches were. Byleth also helped the chefs in the kitchen with their cooking dilemma, and was awarded the privilege to be able to cook in the kitchen with his students. He would use that in the future. The teal-haired professor found students interested in singing for the Church's choir, and Blythe and Dorothea jumped at the opportunity. The last time Byleth saw his sister, Blythe and Dorothea were going to go spend the free day with Edelgard.
Byleth was now looking for his father, since Jeralt told him that they needed to have a talk. The teal-haired professor also wanted to talk to his father, as Byleth had an idea that he wanted to check with his father. Once Byleth found his father, the knight was finishing a conversation with Dimitri. "Father, Dimitri."
"Professor." Dimitri responded to Byleth's greeting. He then turned to Jeralt. "Thank you again, Sir Jeralt."
"It was nothing, kid." Jeralt said to Dimitri. He then continued with, "Leadership comes naturally to you, so don't overthink your position here."
Dimitri bowed, and took his leave of the father and son duo. After Dimitri was out of earshot, both Jeralt and Byleth turned to each other. "Byleth, you said that you needed the knights for something? What do you have planned."
"Since our mission this month is going to be my class's first time fighting an organized group, I was hoping that a squadron of the knights could be borrowed for a mock battle." Byleth told his father. The brown-haired knight nodded in reply. He saw where his son was coming from. "I see where you're going with this. I'll choose a squadron of the knights, and have them ready for a mock battle on the 18th of this moon."
Byleth nodded while saying his thanks. After, both father and son split off to do their respective jobs in the monastery.—————————————————————————————————————————————————
12th of the Harpstring Moon, Garreg Mach Monastery, Blue Lions Classroom (Late Morning), Imperial Year 1180
In the Blue Lions Classroom, everyone was in there, getting ready for their individual lessons. Today was the day where Byleth assigned each student a recommendation class to start with. Blythe and Celine's starting classes were already accepted by Lady Rhea, but the teal-haired professor would check with them anyway.
The teal-haired professor had started with Felix. Felix's recommendation was for the Myrmidon class, which was an obvious pick for him. However, Sothis had picked up on a magic signature from Felix, so Byleth encouraged Felix to check out reason magic as well.
Next was Ingrid, who Byleth recommended for the soldier class. Ingrid told Byleth that she wanted to be a Pegasus Knight, and the teal-haired professor responded that the soldier class was a stepping stone to the Pegasus Knight class. Ingrid accepted the recommendation with a smile.
Ashe was after Ingrid, and Byleth recommended the gray-haired young man for the Fighter class. It was a class that excelled in either bows, axes, or brawling, so Ashe would be a good fit for the fighter class. Byleth also made a suggestion for Ashe to look into lance lessons, since the gray-haired archer wanted to be a knight.
After Ashe was Mercedes, who Byleth had no doubts about recommending her for the Monk class. It was perfect for the pinkish-blonde haired healer. However, since Mercedes could only used ranged weapons except for the Nosferatu spell, Byleth encouraged Mercedes to stay in the back during the mission unless it was necessary.
Dedue was after Mercedes, and Byleth recommended him for the Fighter class. Like with Ashe, Dedue would excel in that class since it involved using axes.
Annette was the next Blue Lions to be recommended a class. She was also recommended for the Monk class for the exact same reason as her best friend.
Sylvain was after Annette. The teal-haired professor recommended Sylvain for the soldier class, since it uses lances. Like with Felix, Sothis sensed a magic signature within Sylvain, so Byleth encouraged Sylvain to check into reason magic.
Celine was already cleared for the Myrmidon class by Lady Rhea, but Byleth wanted to check with Celine. He asked if she was narrowing down what type of magic she could have been learning, and the blue-haired swordsman narrowed it down to Thunder magic. Byleth told Celine to check in with Dorothea of the Black Eagle House at the first opportunity available.
After Celine was Blythe, who was already cleared for the Mage class. Byleth reaffirmed his sister's goals of fighting with swords and magic. He also told Blythe the message that Jeralt told him to pass along a week prior. Blythe nodded before leaving the room.
Dimitri, the leader of the Blue Lions students, was the last student to come in for their individual lesson. Byleth recommended him for the soldier class, since Dimitri's skill with a lance was almost unprecedented among the student body. Dimitri accepted the recommendation with a nod.
Before Dimitri left, Byleth called out to him. "Dimitri, hold on for a second."
Dimitri turned to look at Byleth with an inquisitive glance. "Professor? Is everything alright?"
"I have a favor to ask you." Byleth said to Dimitri. The blond-haired prince nodded to signify his attention. "Can you keep an eye on Blythe for me during the mission? She puts herself before others, and that can sometimes put her in danger."
Dimitri nodded, his blue eyes filled with resolution. "I was going to do that anyway. Blythe is one of the closest friends I have, and I won't let anything happen to her. Not on my watch."
