Chapter 5: The left punch

* I'm so sorry for my absence. My life had been really hectic . With my end of the year exams and my personal life being an overflow of things to do. I am now on holiday and took a few weeks to let myself rest. I'm back and I am not letting this story go because I have a tendency of starting stories and never finishing them because I have a new idea. This time I'm sticking to this story and I thank you all for the increadible support. Especially for my friend. You know who you are. 332km apart. *

Chapter 5:

I woke up the next day with a huge headache. Rolling over to the other side of my twin bed I looked at the time 8.47 am. Groaning when I realized I had a few minutes left to meet up with Evan. The dorm room was deadly quiet as I looked around, I noticed most of my roommates were sprawled across their mattress trapped in a deep sleep. I chuckled lightly and immediately regretted the movement as it made my hangover worse. The roomates that were missing were probably with their partner...you know what I mean. Mad was nowhere in sight. I shrugged, and got to the communal bathroom.

'Hello sunshine!' Mad shouted making my bones jump out of their sockets.  I looked at her and wispered, 'how are you so umm... not grumpy? See! even I can't formulate cohesive sentences!'

She just shook her head and said, 'I guess I can hold my own better than you in front of alcohol, anyway what are you doing up this early?'

'Evan told me to meet up with him to train.' Her eyebrows almost immediately went up as she wiggled them suggestively. 'hey! Stop it! I am not in the right state of mind to deal with this right now!'

She just laughed, 'You think you will be able to train? You better clean up well, you look like we had just tossed you in a washing machine that washes clothes with snot!'

I rushed to the shower and rinsed myself as quickly as I could.

'Mad?' I shouted over the water.

'Yeah?' she said absentmindedly

'What were you doing up so early?' That seemed to do the trick. She came down to earth in a flash. Wrapping my towel securely around my cold body, walk out of the shower and was met by a blushing Mad. She quickly covered it up with a smirk and replied with a slight dose of sass.

'Wouldn't you like to know?' I could feel my eyes rolling at her as I couldn't help myself from smiling.

'Mad, do you know where is Ria? She was supposed to meet me ten minutes ago.' Evan said as he walked into the bathroom. Looking down at my watch I realized what time it was. Seeing as Mad didn't reply to him he stopped and finally noticed me. Only then did I notice I was only wearing a towel to cover myself. He looked at me, silence quickly came down upon us. Mad, cleared her throat and then did the unthinkable.

'Well I guess you've found her, sorry I need to go to meet up with uh.. Spade!' and with that she left me alone with Evan.  I mean isn't there some kind of girl code to prevent this kind of situation?
Looking up at his face I noticed a slight smirk forming.

'You do realize it's the girls' communal bathroom right?'

This just made his smirk more apparent.

'So? I am the leader of the RG center. What are you going to do about it' he said silently challenging me to disagree.

Seeing me at a loss of words he continued,

'You were supposed to meet up with me ten minutes ago. My time is very limited you know. Why should I waste it on you?'

I did not want to get overpowered by the arrogant man in front of me so I spoke up.

'Because you're a nice human being?' I silently cringed at my lame come back. Why couldn't have at least a little bit of Mad's sass?

'Get dressed we will go for a run.' He left, leaving me to rush myself to try and put on some leggins. Do you know how hard it is to put on some leggings when you just came out of the shower? The absolute worst! I should probably win the 'embarrassed award' as I tripped and fell flat on my bum.I heard Evan's laughter, with a huff I got up and successfully got changed without too many mishaps.

We both went to the training room and started to run around the track.

'I saw you took every self defence class there was. Could you explain your decision?' Evan asked stiffly.

It troubled me sometimes, how difficult it was for me to read him. He was sometimes amused, cold or angry. I could never detect which one. I just hoped he was curious and wanted to know more about me. Call me stupid or whatever but I couldn't help but pretend that he did care.

'I got brought here because I was knocked out during the shooting on the plaza. Something could've happened to me. I just don't want to be defenseless. I want to be strong.'

He didn't answer making my heart sink a little. We continued to run around the track for a few more rounds until he decided we needed to go to the actual training mats.

'The shooting wasn't one of our own.' He started, we were circling one another. 'The so called 'Liberals' orchestrated it.' He said venomously. At that I could hear my heart rate increasing. What if he had figured it out? What if he knew I was a  so called 'spy'?

'They put the blame on us but we are trying to protect the civilians. The shootings are just another way to reduce the population. They killed 378 people in the last shooting luckily you were only injured-even I don't really know why they didn't kill you, I can only form my own theories.'  He punched me to the right but I blocked it throwing a counter attack.

That's it he knows I'm a spy. I done for. My interior facade was full on panicking but I remembered I didn't know what he knew yet. He punched again to the left catching me off guard.

'Why do you think they let me live?' I asked calmly.

He stopped moving and looked at me dead straight in the eyes.

'Because you look exactly like my fiancée.'
