Chapter 2: Ria Dipredse

Chapter 2

I had decided to find Evan and Keith with no luck. Evan never left my mind which made me feel like a love sick teenager but I knew for certain that I was not a teen, my closest guess was that I was in my early twenties. I did try to find myself in some sort of reccord but with the overpopulation, there were many citizens the society didn't know about. I did found out that the city was under the Liberal System but I fell into a dangerous category: unknown or undeclared. The hospital hadn't given me a lot of information about the men either. That is, when I came back a few days later after that rude nurse had kicked me out.

I slumped down on the cold metallic bench bitting my nails off disgustingly, watching the busy road roaring to life everytime an old car past by. I was destresingly sleep deprived because of the unhealthy locations I had slept in every night. I would be lying if I said I was not scared. I knew for a fact that I was terrified. No one knew me and I was starving.

A buff man sat down on the bench wearing a navy blue suit and holding a black leather briefcase. He looked out of place as he stared at me for a few moments and wrinkled his nose.   I could feel my cheeks redden as embarassment flooded my sense. Did I really smell that bad?

He muttered a few words under his breath whilst looking at the passing cars in front. I was just about ask him if he needed anything when he spoke a little louder.

' Your name is Ria Dipredse, you are 23 years old. Your rank is SUAP9 with a code: 123225808995, don't worry you have no family and scored a total of 98 at your training,' taking a pause as he turned around to look at me straight in the eyes, 'and you are the most valuable asset we've got.'

I was baffled.'Wha--t... How do you know?' I stood up abruptlybut the man simply stayed there seemingly calm.

'SUAP9 may you please sit down, we need to have a serious conversation.'

I huffed. ' My name is Ria- apparently Ria Direpr...something like that. See! Even I can't remember my name!'

The man took  a hold of my hands. 'Ria Dipredse. Look I don't have all day, you are an agent for the Liberals-'

'You mean Mrs. Aspeg? Wait what's your name. You know everything about me so it's only fair for you to at least tell me your name.' I said whilst I was pulling my hands out of this uncomfortable position.

'Vincent. Yes I am talking about Mrs. Aspeg. You may know she does not have any supervisors as she overpowered them. They were not willing to do what it will take to save this country. I mean you haven't seen the worst!'

Beatrice did seem to know more than she was letting on since she had warned me the country's positions. Yet again this man seemed to know a lot as well.

'I understand that the country is in economic stress but why call it a Liberal since it's a dictatorship!'

Vincent shook his head frustratingly. 'She still has to ask for the public's opinion and we don't want to worry the citizens by employing the word dictatorship.'

I closed my eyes for a few seconds to let the disbelief sink in.

'Why are you here?'

'You have a new mission that you must complete-'

I cut him off. 'What if I don't want the mission? I barely know anything!'

Vincent just continued on as if nothing had happened. ' Go to the Island Plaza tonight at 8pm sharp. A Gang attack will happen, you need to enter their union and report as much as you can to us. They are the RG Center.'

'How will I contact you and-- wait-- what if I don't do it! I'm no super spy or whatever you think I am.'

Suddenly, he grabbed my shirt and whispered. 'You will do as I say or else I will personally make sure you spend the rest of your life on this cold hard bench. Are we clear?'

I merely had the time to nod as he abruptly stood up with the menacing snarl still glued on his face, dusting his suit roughtly as he walked away. Without forgeting to spit at me as he left. What a gentleman!  He was just a good looking man with a serious bipolar attitude and anger managment issues. That was just sad.

Another stranger passed by.

'Miss, do you know where the Island Plaza is?' I asked

She looked at me and smiled. 'Yes, it's down the street. Just turn left on Beach road. You wan't be able to miss it!'

'Thank you! What time is it?' I asked nervously.

'Ten to eight.' She giggled. 'I'm late.'                                                                                                                      The nice girl left in a hurry.

Guess I was going to Island Plaza tonight.
