Chase's POV

"Bree!" I screamed with tears streaming down my face as the entire house burst into flames. There was a big chance she was already dead, but there was still a little chance that she was trying to find a way out.

"Why would you do this?" I turned to Douglas who just stared at the house completely still. He'd gone completely insane; I don't know what had triggered it, but I did a mental scan with my chip and he officially snapped. After calling him crazy for so long it finally became a reality. "Answer me!" I barked, as my throat began to grow more hoarse. I wanted an answer I knew I wasn't going to get anytime soon. He just stood there motionless; he didn't even flinch as I shouted profanities in his face. I backed away, trying to get my priorities straight. What I needed to do was save Bree if she was still alive. I stared down at Douglas' waist, where the key to the door was swaying back and forth from the wind that had accumulated. I knew I wasn't strong enough to break down the titanium door; I needed that key. I stared up at him to see him staring right at me. With one quick motion I lunged at him; he stopped me with a gun to my chest.

"One more move and you're dead." I smiled at him. As I saw something in the distance, behind him; a piece of hope I hadn't lost. I saw two familiar figures running toward us about 200 feet away. I just needed time. I focused my eyes on him quickly.

"You wouldn't." He stared at me blankly, as he moved the gun to my shoulder. The muscles in his face tightened into a toothy grin, as he pulled the trigger. I screamed out in pain and gritted my teeth as the bullet sunk deep into my shoulder.

"That was a warning shot." He spat at me in hate as he shoved me to the ground. I buried my hands into the hot sand and gripped it, letting the heat burn my palms; there needed to be something to distract from the pain.

"Chase!" Adam yelled as he tackled Douglas to the ground. Leo ran over to me and yanked me up. He stared at my arm.

"Oh god." I looked down to see my arm covered in blood and a pool of blood on the ground. Leo's afraid of blood and usually passes out whenever he sees it. I grabbed onto his shoulders as he started to fall.

"No no no no no! Stay with me!" He looked at my arm in shock. "Look at me! I'm okay. I'm gonna be okay. We have to get to Bree." He nodded and looked at me.

"Okay." We ran over to Adam who had pinned Douglas to the ground. He knocked the gun out of his hand and punched him in the face. I used my telekinesis to grab the gun. The wind began to grow stronger, and started a sand storm. I squinted my eyes as I tried to make my way over to them. Douglas pulled something out of his pocket and struggled to put it towards Adam's neck. Leo looked towards me.

"What is that?" He yelled. I focused my eyes to see what it was, and realized too late what it was.

"Adam! No!" Douglas pressed the button and Adam fell to the ground, paralyzed. Douglas held Adam's chip up as I looked towards Leo as we both realized it was a chip retractor. We made our way over there as we fought through the wind. "Take care of Adam..." I loaded the gun. "I'll take care of Douglas." Leo shielded his face and nodded. I turned to see Douglas only a foot away from me.

"Hello Chase." I immediately raised the gun. "I wouldn't do that if I were you." he said as he held up the chip. "If you shoot me, I'll throw the chip. You'll never see it again." My eyes widened, and I lowered down the gun. I couldn't do that to Adam; he would never have his bionics again. I looked towards Leo, who had helped Adam up. I looked at both of them frantically. Leo looked towards Adam, and Adam looked towards his chip and nodded. I turned back to Douglas, and with one swift move, he threw the chip into the sandstorm. With what little fight he had, he tried to run. My hand shook as I raised the gun and shot. The bullet landed in the back of his head, and he fell to his death. I dropped the gun, as we all walked over to him. My hair blew in my face, and the sand burned my eyes. We all stared down at him as he struggled to take a final breath. I knelt down to his motionless body and grabbed the key that was attached to his waste. I took one last look at him, and turned to them. I looked towards Adam.

"I'm sorry." It was the only response I could muster. He grabbed my hand and lifted me to my feet.

"It's okay. The only thing I care about right now is getting to Bree." I looked towards Leo.

"Let's go."
