"She never was and will never be."

Left... right... again right... left... jump... left... right... duck... jump... left... drop off the cliff.
"Shit!" Vivaan threw his phone which landed on his pillow.
Vivaan's eyes had been stuck on his phone screen for the last half an hour. He had been playing Temple Run with great attention. He needed to break his previous record but very, very, unfortunately, the game was over far before reaching his previous record, let alone breaking it.
There was a soft tap on his door.
"Come in!"
The door creaked open a little and a girl's head peeked in. Her black hair was dangling over the right side of her face, obscuring the view of her right eye.
"Hey!" She greeted, softly.
Vivaan's face turned bright red from fury. He hurled a book at her which was nearest to him. The girl, with swift movements, caught it and turned it over in her hand.
"Hmm... classic..." She said, scrutinising the book. "Chokher Bali."
He strode towards her and snatched the book out of her. He tossed it back and didn't even look where it fell.
The girl gave him a confused glance. Vivaan shoved past her and slammed the door, hard behind him. He descended the stairs. Heavy footsteps echoing in the silent corridor. He pushed open his parent's bedroom door, harshly. The door banged on the wall behind it, producing a sickening sound.
His parents turned to look at him. Eyes coloured in hues of shock and bewilderment. They stood up and looked at him.
"Why is she in my room?" Vivaan thundered, nose flaring in anger.
"Because she wished to see you," Pratima said, coolly.
"And you sent her to my room, like that?" Vivaan gripped on the door handle so hard that his knuckles started to turn white.
"Because she is your own sister," Anurag intervened. His voice was cold and haughty.
"She never was and will never be," Vivaan spat.
He turned around swiftly and was about to walk out when he saw her. She was standing at the doorway, eyes filled with tears. She gave him a hurtful look before turning back. He walked out only to see her enter her room at the end of the corridor.
He walked towards the door and started putting on his shoes. Brinda, who was in the kitchen came out hearing the door open.
"Where are you going?" She inquired. "Your sister just came home."
"I don't care," he responded, angrily.
He slammed the door shut and walked out. He sat on the bench on their porch for a few minutes, trying to calm himself.
He covered his face with his hands. The sound of his harsh breathing was the only sound apart from the sounds of the birds chirping in the trees in their garden.
Their house was the hugest house in their neighbourhood. They had a huge garden in front of their house and a gravel path in the middle, leading to the main gate. There were two benches on the porch on either side of the door. A sofa at the corner and a swing at another corner. The white railings contrasted wonderfully with the blue colour of the porch. Two beautiful porch light was hanging overhead the benches. The back and the sides didn't have any types of equipment where one could sit but were lined with small potted plants all along the railing. One wouldn't complain standing there. The lush greenery was something too heavenly for someone to complain about not having seats. Their backyard was grand. Football net and basketball hoop were set up. There were two benches where spectators could sit and watch them play. Though they were made for this reason, instead it was used as a resting bench by the players. Generally, the spectator was Brinda and occasionally Pratima (only when she was on her period) but they used the second-floor balcony as the gallery and watched Vivaan and his friends or his father play. The front wasn't that green as it was facing the street. People's houses, peoples, cars, more houses and more people were the only thing that could be seen.
Their house was huge as well. The moment one entered the house, they would see a spacious room with sofas. Right beside the door was the shoe rack, filled with various kinds of shoes. There were two corridors: one leading to the kitchen, storeroom and laundry and another to his parent's bedroom, his mother's room, father's room, sister's room and every end was a staircase, leading upstairs. The first thing one had to see when they go upstairs is the huge round room, also the family room. A huge TV adorned the right wall. A Persian rug covered the floor. Two ottomans and a sofa faced the glass table in the middle. Behind it was a wooden shelf full of books and statues. Beside it, on a small statue stand is an elegant statue of Freya. Two doors on either side of the room, leading to two corridors: one leading to the dining room, two guest rooms and Vivaan's room and another to the library, playroom consisting of various board games and a staircase leading to the roof.
Vivaan rubbed his eyes with the heel of his palms. He took in a few breaths before standing up and walking out. He walked to the nearest park and sat on a bench. Only a few kids were there, some on the swings, some on the see-saw and some on the slides. Though it was Sunday, it was too early for people to come to parks since it was past three in the afternoon. Half of the people were taking their daily siestas and some just resting or watching films or spending time with their families.
He hated her and now the She-Devil was here to make his perfect life hell. He knew it for sure. Rage filled his mind and heart. He clenched his hands in a fist.
"Bhattacharya," he growled bared teeth.
A/N- Long chapter as promised. Hope you enjoyed it. Currently watching Godzilla while writing this (doing both at the same time). Don't forget to vote and leave a comment.
