"Jack!" I groaned and stomped away from him, "I love you, but you piss me off so much sometimes."
He grasped my hips from behind, but I scrambled out of his grip. "I'm sorry." He choked on another laugh, "I won't forget to do the dishes again."
I whirled around to face him and accidentally crashed into his chest. I pushed up on his chest and took a step back. "Do you think this is funny?"
Jack placed a hand over his mouth and I knew he was fighting another set of laughs. "Do you not realize," He dropped his hand, "what you're getting mad about?"
"Oh, no. I fully realize what I'm getting mad about. I'm already stressed out enough and I don't want to have to worry about doing the dishes on top of everything else!"
He stepped forward and placed his hands on my shoulders. "Juliet," He breathed, "Calm down. It's dishes. I'll do them, but you need to calm your cute little ass down. Our wedding is in a week and I don't need to explain to everyone we canceled the wedding because I forgot to do the dishes."
I bit my tongue, trying to hide my own laugh. If I laugh, he knows he won. Instead, I glared at him. He won't win this one, I can tell you that now. Maybe I'm being a little childish and maybe it's because the wedding is so close that I'm acting like this.
Jack walked around me and pulled his shirt over his head. He changed from his jeans into sweatpants and started to get into bed. "What do you think you're doing?" I asked, settling my hands on my hips as I paced towards him. I stopped just short of the platform our bed sat on.
"Getting into bed?" He said slowly.
I pointed to the couch. "You're sleeping on the couch."
He cocked his head to the side and walked up to me. He narrowed his eyes and then ducked to wrap an arm around the backs of my knees and around my back. He lifted me up and it was pointless to fight. "And what the hell do you think you're doing?"
Jack didn't answer. He walked over to the couch, laid me down, and then lay down next to me. He pulled the cover from the back of the couch to cover us both. "Jack," I whispered.
"What?" He whispered back and I felt his breath faint on my lips.
"This is not what I meant."
His arm tightened around my waist and he pulled me closer against his chest. "I don't want to sleep without you."
I groaned again and gripped his chin in one hand. "Why can't I stay mad at you?"
"Because you love me too much."
I leaned in and kissed him slowly. "That I do."
His smile stretched against my lips. "I promise I'll do them first thing in the morning."
I smiled too. "I'm sorry about that. I'm just stressed about the wedding and I'm nervous too—"
"Nervous?"
I'm glad he couldn't see my cheeks turn red. "Aren't you?"
"No." He answered strongly, "I'm marrying my favorite person in the world. Why would I be nervous?"
A giggle escaped before I could stop it. "I'm only marrying you for the very cheesy compliments." I let my thumb skim over his bottom lip, "You're my favorite too. Well, you come in close with Gizmo."
Jack laughed. "I can't imagine what it'll be like when we have kids."
"They'll love me more."
He gasped dramatically. "Not a chance, Princess."
"We'll see about that." I kissed him again, brushing my lips lightly across his. "I can't wait to tell them our story."
"We should probably leave the part out about me being on house arrest." He muttered.
I breathed a laugh. "That's probably a good idea."
"Do you remember English during freshman year?"
"What about it?"
"I used to sit behind you everyday for a reason. And no, it wasn't to cheat off of you." He laughed a little, "I liked being close to you. Even though I never talked to you, I wanted to. I almost asked you to homecoming that year."
"Are you serious?"
"I'm seriously serious." His laugh was light against my lips, "That wasn't a good year for me either. I got mixed up with the wrong people, my grades were declining big time, and my parent's barely wanted anything to do with me. I felt like I was alone for a long time." He dropped his hand down to the back of my thigh, slowly brushing his fingers under the hem, "Do you think things would've been different?"
I shivered as he continued moving his fingers along the back of my thigh. "Maybe they could've been, but I wouldn't change any of this for the world. You're perfect to me and I couldn't imagine changing anything about you." I poked the tip of his nose, "I have you now and I don't plan on letting you go."
His lips slowly molded against mine and he kissed me attentively. "Perfection is overrated. But you do come pretty damn close."
"You too, Jack." I kissed him again and then Gizmo decided to jump on the couch and nudge himself between us. He's not a small puppy anymore, but he really thinks he is.
Jack kissed my forehead and I tucked my head under his chin. I ruffled my hand through Gizmo's fur and he lay snug between us. "I think we need a bigger couch."
I laughed. "Or we could move to our bed."
He breathed out and wrapped an arm around my shoulders. "I didn't say I didn't like it."
I left a small kiss on his jaw and we soon fell asleep.

The cab pulled up to my grandparent's house and came to a stop. Jack stepped out first and held on tight to Gizmo's leash as he jumped out.
When I got out, I took hold of the leash while the cab driver helped Jack get our luggage out of the trunk. I paid the driver and he left with a simple smile and a wave.
The front door opened to the house and both of my grandparents came running out, immediately enveloping me in their arms. "I missed you guys too." I did my best to wrap my arms around both of them while Gizmo tugged on the leash.
"We're so glad you're home." They pulled back and my grandma cupped my face and kissed my forehead, "I can't believe you're getting married."
I laughed. "Thanks, Grandma."
They moved onto Jack, hugging him tightly too. After we exchanged greetings, we walked inside. I unhooked Gizmo's leash and he took off into the living room. "Have you talked to Dad?" I asked.
"He called this morning. He'll be here with Jules tonight." My grandma replied.
I nodded. "Good. I just want to make sure he's here before the rehearsal dinner tomorrow evening."
"He will be, he made sure of it." She walked up to me and placed her hands on my shoulders, "And I've already talked to Jack's parent's. The rehearsal dinner is ready to go tomorrow and neither of you have to do a thing."
"Thank you, Grandma." I hugged her again, "Thanks for everything you've done lately. With the dress, the planning, and everything else."
She wrapped her arms tight around me. "I was happy to do it."
"You guys are the best." I stepped back, "We're going to go next door and see his parents, but we'll be back for dinner. Could you keep an eye on Gizmo for a bit?"
My grandma laughed and nodded. "Of course."
Jack came up to me and wrapped his hand around mine before leaving the house. We walked across the lawn to his parents' house, but noticed no cars in the driveway. "Where are they?" I asked.
Jack dropped my hand and took his keys from his pocket to unlock the door. "Work probably. But they'll be home soon." He walked in and I followed close behind.
"Do you just want to go wait at my grandparent's?"
Jack turned around, a small smirk tugging at his lips. "Or," He took my hands and led me to the stairs, "we can find other ways to pass the time."
I smiled. "And what exactly did you have in mind, Jack?"
We made it to the top of the stairs and he pulled me in the direction of his old room. "Well, I could definitely show you better than I can tell you."
"Show was always my favorite part of Show and Tell."
Jack grinned and brought me to his bed. "Tell me where and I'll show you."
I started giggling and fell back on the bed. "Remember what we talked about."
He leaned down and hovered over me in seconds. "Yes, not until our wedding night which is the day after tomorrow by the way."
I snaked my arms around his neck and pulled him closer. "I'm excited."
"Still nervous?"
"Not as much." I brushed my palms down the sides of his neck; "I'm excited to officially start my life with you."
He bent his head forward and kissed me slowly. "I'm excited for the honeymoon." He kissed my jaw and nudged his face against my neck.
My eyes fell closed and I smiled. "Of course you are."
Jack's lips parted over my neck, the tip of his tongue grazing over my skin as he kissed his way down.
"If you give me a hickey two days before our wedding, I'll kick your ass."
He laughed, but continued his way along my collarbone. "Don't tempt me." He kissed up my throat, kissed my chin, and the corner of my bottom lip. "No one would see if I did it here." His hand slid up my shirt and rested on my stomach.
My breath caught. "Let's not get ahead of ourselves."
Jack's hands were on my hips and he gripped them tightly. My hands slid into his hair and I sank my fingers against his scalp, curling my fingers around his hair. I pulled a little and Jack moaned. His lips landed on mine and there was nothing smooth about this kiss.
When I managed to get a breath, Jack's lips were back on my neck. "Maybe show and tell wasn't a good idea." I breathed and began panting again.
He hummed against my skin. "Show and tell is always a good idea."
My breaths were coming in as gasps.
"Two weeks has been way too long." He murmured and leveled his face with mine, his lips only an inch away.
"It'll be worth it." I grinned and kissed him softly, "I promise."
"Oh, I know it'll be worth it." He echoed my grin, "Everything about this week is going to be absolutely perfect."
I nodded in agreement. "Definitely." I dropped my hands and fanned out my arms across his bed, "A lot started in this house...this room..."
His fingers lightly skimmed across my jaw. "More good than bad I hope."
"All I can think about is the good."
His smile was small as his eyes searched mine. "Good." He kissed me once more before climbing off of me and offering me his hand, "Let's raid the kitchen before they get home."
I grabbed his hand and he pulled me up and off the bed. "That's the best offer I've had all day." I teased, patting his cheek with the tips of my fingers and leaving the room.
"Hey!" He called after me.
I took off running, but of course Jack's long strides weren't a match for my smaller ones. Especially down stairs. But I managed to make it into the kitchen before his arms were wrapped tight around me. I let out a laugh. "What? Did I hurt your precious ego?"
Jack let me go and I turned around to take a step back. He put a hand over his heart, mock hurt. "I'm so hurt, Baby."
"Sucks to be you then." I grinned and walked around him to get to their pantry. And of course it wasn't long until I was pinned against the shelf, "Oh, this is oddly familiar."
"Isn't it though?" He beamed and leaned in to kiss me, "It was the first time you kissed me and also you didn't run away after."
I wrinkled my nose. "I was an idiot clearly."
"Eh, maybe a little." He joked, "Then a bag of chips decided to fall down and scare the shit out of you. It was actually really funny. You get scared so easily." He poked the tip of my nose and my face relaxed.
"Making fun of me before we get married isn't winning you any points, McKinnon." I smiled sarcastically.
He laughed and leaned in closer again. "There's nothing wrong it."
I stood on my toes and connected our lips for a moment. "I'm hungry and tired."
"Maybe we can squeeze in a nap before they get home."
I nodded. "Food first, nap second."
* * *
After all the rehearsal dinner mingling, toasts, and a few gifts, it was over. It was my grandparents, my dad and his wife, Jack's parents, Lindy and her parents, and of course Jack and I. There were a few relatives from Jack's side and I realized how many family members are missing on mine.
I wish my mom could be here.
She would love Jack. She'd be so happy for me and I'd get to share these moments with her.
But I have my dad here and he's not leaving again.
He walked towards me when we made it outside and quickly pulled me into a tight hug. "Next time I see you, you'll be getting married."
Nervousness seeped into me again. "I'm glad you could make it, Dad."
"Of course. I've missed out on everything, I couldn't miss your wedding."
I pulled back and looked up at him. "It means a lot to me."
He tapped his knuckle against my cheek. "I love you, Kiddo."
I breathed a laugh. "I love you too."
"I'll see you tomorrow." He gave me one more smile before turning and following Jules to their car.
Turning in another circle, I finally spotted Jack. I walked up to him, winding my arms around his waist from behind and pressing my face against his back. His hands fell over my own and he squeezed gently. "I was looking for you." He whispered.
"I found you first."
He chuckled and turned around in my arms. "We have a big day ahead of us tomorrow."
My heart fluttered when he caressed my face. "Yes we do."
"How am I going to sleep tonight?" He playfully pouted.
"You'll have Gizmo." I teased, "I already know I'm not going to be sleeping tonight." I brushed my hands up his arms, resting them on his biceps.
He freed a hand to tuck a strand of hair behind my ear. "Nervous again?"
"Anxious, I think." I smiled up at him, "Good anxious."
He leaned in a little closer, but not close enough to kiss me. "I'm just thinking about how I'll be standing at the end waiting for you. The way you'll look. How you'll look at me the way you always do." He brushed his thumb across my cheek, "The way you're looking at me now."
I tilted my head into his palm. "I love you."
He kissed me softly and muttered his answer against my lips.
I rested my hands on his hips, curling the fabric of his shirt into my fists. But Jack pulled away all too quickly.
His thumb fluttered over my bottom lip. "That'll have to last me until tomorrow."
I laughed and opened my mouth to say something, but I felt hands on my shoulders, pulling me away from Jack. It was my beautiful best friend. "Hey, you adorable love birds. It's been real awesome, but now I have to steal the gorgeous bride away from you until tomorrow." She wrapped her arms around my shoulders and she was attached to my side, "You don't mind, do ya?"
Jack was fighting a smile. "As long as she's returned."
She pressed her cheek against mine and squeezed me for a second. "She will be, don't worry. And I hate to be the one to do this, but you guys already know you can't see each other until tomorrow. That also includes texting and phone calls."
"Really, Lindy? Texting? What's wrong with that?" I asked.
"Well...I don't know. Just don't do it or I'll take your phone and send Jack old people nudes."
"I don't even want to know." Jack said, "No talking or texting, got it."
Lindy looked at me and grinned. "We should get you home because someone needs her beauty rest." She turned her gaze to Jack, "Goodnight, Prince Charming."
"Goodnight, Lindy." Jack looked at me and back to Lindy, "I can at least hug her."
Lindy eyed him, but released me. I had to laugh as I fell into Jack's arms. He held me tight, leaving a small kiss on my temple. But it wasn't long before Lindy was tugging my arm. "See you tomorrow." I gave him the best smile I could.
He returned it and Lindy pulled me away completely.
We followed my grandparents to their car and climbed in.
Was it sad that I already missed Jack? We've been sleeping in the same bed for almost a year and it's going to be a little weird without him. But it's only one night and we'll spend the rest of our nights sleeping in the same bed.
When we got home, Lindy brought me up to my old room while my grandma went to find my dress. Or her dress I should say. She got it back yesterday after it was tailored and I haven't tried it on yet. That would suck if it didn't fit, right?
Jack's staying next door and it felt like old times. We weren't allowed to see each other, but this time it's because we're getting married.
We're getting married.
I don't think it's fully sunk in yet that I'm marrying Jack McKinnon.
My grandma came in with the dress zipped in a white garment bag. "I haven't looked at it yet because I wanted to see it on you."
"Thank you, Grandma." I smiled, taking it from her arms and going to my bathroom to change.
I hung the bag up on my shower and unzipped it.
My breath hitched.
It was more beautiful than I remembered.
It was a beautiful white. The skirt was an inch or two above my knees, slightly puffed out, and covered in delicate white lace. Above the top of the dress was lace that covered my chest. The dress was sleeveless, but the straps matched the lace that covered the dress from top to bottom.
I undressed and carefully took it from the bag. It wasn't hard to slip on, but I couldn't reach the buttons in the back. I opened the bathroom door and walked out. Lindy stood from my bed and I turned around to gesture to the buttons. Her hands went to work quickly.
When she was finished, I turned back around to show them. "So?"
Grandma walked toward me slowly. "You look amazing and so much like your mother."
My eyes stung and I smiled sadly. "Thank you."
Lindy pointed at me and looked at my grandma. "I have to stand next to that? She's going to be the envy of the whole freaking planet."
I laughed a little too loudly. "It is my wedding."
"True." She grinned and stepped closer to me, "You look amazing, holy shi—I mean crap." She smiled at my grandma and looked back to me, "Jack is one lucky guy, Juliet."
"It looks like it fits okay then?" I asked.
They both nodded and my grandma answered. "It fits perfectly."
"There's only one more thing to do now." Lindy started, "And that's for you to actually get married. I still can't believe you're getting married. You're really really getting married. Like it's happening."
I snorted. "Lindy."
