Chapter 57

A few weeks later was prom. Monte Cristo themed prom to be exact. I wasn't really sure how they settled on that, but they did. Bella and I were both still stuck in boots, but that wasn't stopping Edward and Emmett from dragging us to the dance. Alice and Rosalie came over and helped us get ready that Saturday morning. Well, Rosalie helped me. She still doesn't like my sister much.

The four of us spent hours getting ready together. Rosalie curled my hair before doing a pretty intricate updo and adding a black hair piece. She and Alice had dragged me out a couple nights before hand to get my nails done. I insisted on wearing the necklace Em got me for my birthday, which pissed them both off because they wanted me to wear something flashier. We were able to at least match some other jewelry to it, which settled Rosalie a little bit. I'd also lucked out in the shoe department because you can't wear heels in a boot. However, I wasn't allowed to wear Converse, but I kind of didn't want to. It was weird but Alice found a very cute pair of black dress flats that I adored and I was low key looking forward to wearing them.

That leaves the dress. Alice was still pretty annoyed about that because I cheated a little. I found a beautiful floor length dress that was actually a romper with a sheer skirt over it. I loved it so much that, when we'd gone shopping, Alice had to cave despite thinking it wasn't a real dress.

At least I had a dress. My dear sister had been so adamant she wasn't going that she had to borrow one of Alice's dresses. She looked very uncomfortable in it as she walked down the stairs. I was standing at the top of the stair, watching her while also trying to hide from Emmett. Alice and Rosalie wanted to do this big grand reveal thing and they'd forced Bella to go first.

This also meant our living room was packed with people. Carlisle and Esme were here, along with AJ, Jasper, Emmett, Edward, Mason, and my father.

"Alright, you're up," Alice squealed a little as she hugged me.

"Thank you both, again," I said. They nodded and hugged me tightly before I walked down the stairs. Emmett met me at the bottom, and it was a good thing because I almost tripped over my stupid boot.

"Careful," he mumbled as he caught me.

"Thanks," I said, steadying myself before looking up at him.

"You look stunning," he said. He was dressed in an all black suit, no tie though. He'd left the top couple buttons on his shirt undone making me laugh at him slightly.

"Thank you," I said, feeling the blush forming on my cheeks. "You clean up pretty well yourself."

He chuckled and kissed the top of my head before AJ swooped in to hug me.

"Who are you and what have you done with my best friend?" He asked.

I giggled softly as I hugged him in return. "I could ask you the same thing. I've known you for a long time and I've never seen you wear anything quite like this."

He was dressed in a red suit with a black tie that countered Jasper's black suit and red tie. I knew Alice had picked out a red and black dress so they all matched perfectly.

"As much as I love you, you have about two seconds to turn around and pay attention to your girlfriend before she fights you," I said, nodding towards the stairs. Alice was standing at the top waiting for all attention to be on her so she could bounce down the stairs. She did and she ran right into AJ and Jaspers arms, laughing as the three hugged each other and shared soft words.

Rosalie made significantly less of a production of it, but she was absolutely stunning in her bright red gown. Mason had to be shoved towards her to get him to pick his jaw up off the floor.

After Esme and my father had their fill of pictures, we all headed out to the dance, obviously having to make an over the top entrance, well minus Edward and Bella. They wanted to sneak in quietly.
