Chapter 23
"Alice, I hate dresses," I said as she finished curling my hair. My makeup had been done for a while now.
"I found one you will love though," she said.
"I still hate dresses," I said.
"I promise, you will love this one," she said. She handed me a dress bag and I opened it to reveal an off the shoulder dress. The top was all black, the waist was fitted, and the bottom ruffled out in a galaxy pattern. There were moons lining the bottom of the skirt making me smile at the dress.
"Alice, this is cute. I hate dresses, but this is cute," I said.
"Come on, get dressed," she said. She pushed me out of the bedroom and I headed to the bathroom to get dressed. I changed quickly before returning to my room. When I stepped in, Alice had already changed and gotten herself ready.
"Girls, we've gotta leave soon," Dad yelled up the stairs.
"We're coming," I yelled as Alice clasped the necklace Rose and Mason had gotten me around my neck.
"Wanna stay tonight?" She asked quickly. She held a bookbag out to me and I nodded, taking it.
"Dad, can I stay with Alice tonight?" I asked. "We have a three day weekend."
"Sure," he said. "You look lovely."
"You don't clean up too bad," I said, laughing at how uncomfortable he looked in the button up and suit coat. He was wearing a light, pastel, blue, button up under his black suit coat. It must've been one of his outfits for court because there was no way he'd wear it any other time.
"You look dashing as ever Charlie," Alice said. "And thank you for letting me steal your daughter for the night."
"Thank you, and you're welcome," he said. "If you two want to head up, I'll be right behind you."
We agreed and headed out to Alice's car. It was a small black sports car. It wasn't a convertible, but it would definitely beat Rosalie's BMW in a drag race.
Alice drove out to her house, not exactly following the speed limit signs posted along the road.
The whole family met us at the door.
"Thank you guys again for doing this," I said, hugging Esme and Carlisle.
"You're very welcome dear. We know how important your father is to you, and you have become quite important to us. A daughter even, so we're more than happy to do this," Esme said.
"She is right," Carlisle said. "And, you look quite lovely."
"Thanks," I said.
Mason nodded at me quickly as Rosalie paid me a compliment as well. Emmett wrapped his arms around my waist, picking me up in a hug. I kissed his lips quickly before he sat me down again.
"You look so gorgeous," Emmett said.
"You look pretty amazing yourself," I said. I couldn't quit smiling at how hot he looked.
Alice and Jasper were now standing together, smiling happily about something. I found it off that the duo seemed so happy, but closer to ignore it. Edward was standing off by himself, kind of glaring at us. I started thinking about the most inappropriate things I could until I saw him cringing and he began begging me to stop.
Emmett and Mason began laughing at me as Jasper chuckled a little. Edward made a comment about burning his eyeballs out, but I ignored it.
"Your dad well be here soon, but first, there's one gift I want you to have before dinner," Emmett said, leading me into the living room.
