Epilogue
The nursing home is tense. Louis and Harry have been residents for a few years, but everyone knows it's slowly coming to an end. They were so involved at the home and did things to help out for years.
"Today's the day, Love, I-I can feel it," Louis whispers. The pain in his body is nearly too much to handle. He turns his head in the bed and sees his husband's nearly motionless body. Louis knows Harry's worse off and will probably die before him. He hates the fact, but it's a fact nonetheless.
"Stop all that silly talk Mr. Tomlinson. You'll be fine, you've got strong bones," Andrew cuts in. He's much older now and has kids of his own. Even after all these years he's managed to keep in contact with his dead best friend's dad.
"How's the-the... wife and kids," Louis asks. It's hard to move, let alone talk, but Louis doesn't want to sit in silence. He loves hearing about Andrew's family.
"The miss' is doing good and little Charlie turns twelve next month," Andrew explains. Louis' heart clenches. When Andrew came to them and told them that he was planning on naming his daughter after their's they all cried. The couple got to see Charlie grow up, even if it wasn't their own.
Moment pass, Louis feels the room tense for a moment and looks over to see Harry. He knows he's gone the moment he lays eyes on his him. Louis feels a moment of sharp pain and then it's gone.
He looks around and sees himself lying on the bed pathetically. Louis turns and sees Harry, now much younger, standing in the corner of the room in amazement. He looks back at Andrew and can see deep lines etched into his dark forehead. A single tear falls from his eyes and his bottom lip trembles.
"Goodbye, Mr. Tomlinson," He stammers. Louis watches as Andrew stands and leaves the room quietly, probably to get a nurse to inform them of the death. Louis turns back to Harry and smiles.
"We're young again," Harry states. Louis rolls his eyes and brings Harry in for a hug. It's been too long since they've been able to hug. They're bones and muscles were too far gone for them to get out of bed.
"Dadda!"
Their heads turn and they both suck in breathes as they see Charlie, their Charlie. She's the same way Louis remembered her. She twirls in her dress and smiles at them.
"Charlie?" Louis can hear Harry's voice trembling as he speaks their deceased child's name. He can't believe it. It's been years since they've seen their little girl and years since they've been able to visit her grave.
"Dadda! Papa! You're back," Charlie cheers happily. Louis moves forward and rushes the girl, bringing her in for a tight hug. Louis can feel her tiny fingers digging into his sides and it's all too familiar.
"Of course we came back," Harry whispers. Louis feels Harry wrap his arms around him and Charlie. They put Charlie down and take a moment to bask in the moment.
"We have to go now. Grannie's waiting for us! Don't be scared of the light! Grandpa Robin is here too! Oh and Grandma Anne! You'll love it I promise," Charlie says excitedly. She takes her dads' hands into hers and starts to lead them towards the light.
"We're going home, Harry, we're going home with our little girl."
Fin.
