(Y/n) POV

Wanda has been nice to me, but I'm still not sure I can trust her. HYDRA told me a lot about the Avengers and how dangerous they are.

Wanda: *walks in* Hey, (Y/n). Got you something to eat. Hope you're hungry.

Wanda sets the plate of really good smelling (F/F), I hesitantly take a bite of it but as soon as I get a taste and want more, the Hulk walks in and sees what I have.

Hulk: Oh, Hulk hungry.

Hulk goes to reach for some of my lunch, I start to growl when Wanda uses her powers to stop the Hulk.

Wanda: Hulk, be nice and get your own food from the fridge.

Hulk: Hulk hungry!

Wanda: Stop being a greedy, self absorbed, garbage disposal! This is (Y/n)'s food!

Hulk finally relents and walks away towards the fridge, Wanda seemed to notice something and tried to calm me down...

Wanda: Easy, (Y/n). Hulk isn't bad, he just has a tendency to eat everything in sight.

I looked down and saw my body had started to burn the wooden table and the plate of (F/F) to ash.

(Y/n): Oh! *surprise then turns to frustration* Stupid fire!

Wanda: Hey, hey. It's okay, you didn't do anything wrong. That's replaceable.

Wanda POV

Later, I put (Y/n) down for a nap and gently rub his head to reassure him.

Steve: *over comms* Wanda?

Wanda: What is it, Steve?

Steve: *over comms* Tony made some discoveries about (Y/n), you're gonna want to see this.

Wanda: Be right there.

I actually place a kiss on (Y/n)'s head before leaving him to sleep in peace. I walk up to Tony's lab and see Steve and Tony at a computer screen displaying the body scan JARVIS took of (Y/n).

Steve: How's he doing?

Wanda: He is still having trouble trusting me, but I think I'm making progress. He also is having difficulty keeping his powers under control.

Tony: Well, this might explain why. Check this out.

Tony highlights a specific area of his abdomenal area and I see something shocking.

Wanda: Is that his correct temperature?!

Tony: Yup, 3000° farenheit, generated by this little organ that has been surgically grafted to his body to act as a type of furnace for his fiery powers.

Wanda: So that might explain the tail then?

Tony: Correct, the best analogy I can come up with is the grafted organ is now like an engine to a car and the tail and flame on the end is like an exhaust to let out un-needed heat. I also had JARVIS do a body scan of him after he woke up, and with Hank Pym's help, was able to come to this conclusion, the angrier or more stressed he becomes, the hotter the flame in his belly becomes.

Steve: Hmm, have you determined whether he has an upper limit to how hot those flames can get?

Tony: Not yet, it would be best to see him use those flames of his in action to determine how hot he can actually get.

Wanda: One problem: he hates his powers.

Steve: I don't like it either, but he has them now and he needs to gain control over them if he wants any sense of normal.

Wanda: Easier said than done, but I need to figure out how to get close to him without him fearing me. Who knows who did this to him to make him this scared of people.

Steve: Nat and Hawkeye are still looking into it, but they haven't found anything about his past, yet.

Well, I've certainly got my work cut out for me. I take in this information and go back to my room and see (Y/n) just starting to wake up. He stretches and yawns before opening his (E/C) eyes, look at me and smile. I smile back and feel something new well up inside me, a need to nurture, care and protect him at all costs.

Timeskip 2 Weeks Later

(Y/n) POV

I return to Wanda's room after another burnt lunch, frustrated about my powers, and hide under the blankets on the bed. I hear the door open and close softly and hear Wanda's voice.

Wanda: (Y/n)?

I feel a very gentle tug on the blanket and feel comfortable enough to let go and let Wanda uncover me, while tears fall down my face.

Wanda: (Y/n), really, it's okay. You did nothing wrong, sweety. I-

An alarm starts blaring and I cover my ears in fright until the door to Wanda's room burst open to reveal Black Widow.

Natasha: HYDRA attack on the pier.

I suddenly grew scared at the mention of that name.

Wanda POV

I see (Y/n) rush and stumble to hide under the bed, I grow a worried expression as I look back at Nat.

Natasha: We'll handle it.

Nat closes the door and I slowly move over to the bed. I kneel down, bend over and look under the bed to see (Y/n) curled up with his hands on the side of his head and he's trying desperately to hold back tears.

Wanda: Hey, sweety? Can I come under the bed with you?

He doesn't answer.

Wanda: To be honest, HYDRA scares me too.

(Y/n) looks at me a little surprised, guess he never thought an Avenger would be scared of anything. I crawled under the bed and laid on my belly next to him.

Wanda: I was once a normal girl living in a small town called Sokovia, with my brother, Pietro, HYDRA had built a base in a old castle near the village. My brother and I were taken to the castle one night and they used the power from an alien sceptor and gave me my powers.

(Y/n): I....I shouldn't have assumed.

Wanda: It's okay. Listen, I-

The tower shakes a little and I bonk my head on the underside of the bed, then use my powers to lift the whole bed frame and I get myself up as I rub my head.

Wanda: JARVIS?

JARVIS: We have intruders.

Wanda: Where are they?

JARVIS: A bulk of them are heading to Mr. Stark's lab.

Wanda: Alright, (Y/n), stay here.

(Y/n): *scared* Please, don't leave me!

I kneel down to (Y/n) while still holding up the bed frame and cup his cheek with my free hand.

Wanda: I need to go make these people go away, until then, I would feel much better if I knew you were safely hidden so you don't get hurt. I know your scared, but I will always come back for you, no matter where I go. Always.

(Y/n) nodded and I kissed his forhead, before he laid back down on the ground and I set the bed frame back over him to hide him.

I walk out of my room and lock the door, then head up to Tony's lab. I peek around the door and see ten or so HYDRA grunts, I step out into the doorway and activate my powers. One of the grunts hears my footsteps and turns to see me, but before he can try to raise his gun to shoot, I use my powers to disarm him and restrain him and the others. I bring the highest ranked grunt to me floating upside down.

Wanda: So, the attack at the pier was just a distraction. Why is HYDRA here?

HYDRA Grunt: I won't tell you anything!

Wanda: You misunderstand. I do not need your compliance.

I touch my hand to this man's head and use my powers to read his mind, these guys are here both to steal Tony's tech, but also to look for something this one only knows as, "The Weapon".

Wanda: *thinks to herself* The Weapon? What do they mean by- *gasp* *outloud* (Y/n).

I knock all the grunts unconscious with one stroke of my hand and rush back down the halls to my room.

(Y/n) POV

I am still under the bed in Wanda's room, I hear footsteps outside the door and muffled voices, I have to try and keep calm or I might lose control of my powers. Suddenly, there are several forceful thuds on the door until the door is knocked off it's hinges and I can see four sets of boots walk in, and I recognize two voices.

Crowler: The heat signature is definitely coming from this room.

Fump: Then we should hurry before the Avengers come back.

Even though I'm scared, I keep as quiet as possible, until-

Fump: There you are.

(Y/n): *yelps*

Fump grabs me by the tail and drags me out from under the bed.

(Y/n): *Hisses*

Crowler: Hit him with the sedative!

One of the grunts, then stabs me in the side with needle on a pole, but my inner flame is getting hotter as I get more scared.

HYDRA Grunt: It's not working!

Fump: That's double the dose we used last time.

I feel my flames getting too hot to handle, until I feel a warm aura form around me, I look at the HYDRA flunkies and see that I am forced out of their grip and float away from them and into Wanda's arms.

Wanda: Are you alright?

I look up at Wanda's affectionate expression and break down into tears and hug her tight.

(Y/n): I was so scared.

Wanda: I know.

Wanda puts me down on the ground behind her and says.

Wanda: Stay out here, I'm gonna take care of these guys.

Wanda goes into the room and I can still hear her talking to the HYDRA jerks.

Wanda: Why are you after this boy?

Fump: Why do you care about that weapon?

Wanda: He's not a weapon, he's a boy whom you monsters tortured for who knows how long.

Fump: We're not the monsters here. Trust me, you can't control the power that thing posesses.

*slap*

Wanda: (Y/n) and I will take that bet.

I don't hear anything else, but Wanda simply walks out, floating the now knocked out HYDRA agents behind her, and drops them down the fire escape. She then kneels down to me.

Wanda: Sweety, are you okay?

(Y/n): ..... Am I, a monster?

Wanda: No. Of course, no. Monsters don't care about anyone but themselves. You? You're amazing, and sweet, and kind, who's only ever been hurt. But no more, I want to give you all the love and care I can, if you'll let me.

I finally let my tears loose and I hugged Wanda, I felt her arm gently embrace me, it felt warm and inviting.

Wanda: Shh, it's okay. I've got you.

(Y/n): I was so scared!

Wanda: I know, but it's okay now. I've got you and nothing will hurt you as long as we're together, I promise.

Wanda continued to hug me until JARVIS informed us that the Avengers had returned, I let Wanda pick me up and as she set us down on the couch and she let me sit in her lap while I continued to hug her. Wanda then started humming and my eyes felt heavy and I start to fall asleep.

Wanda POV

I continue humming until I hear some light snoring, I look down and see (Y/n) passed out, snuggled tightly against me, I can only smile and kiss the top of his head. He then moved in his sleep and snuggled even closer into me and mumbled something.

(Y/n): *mumbling* Mama.

You heard that correctly too, right? (Y/n) just called me Mama, at first I was a bit surprised, but then I start to think that maybe he needs someone like that, so why not me?

Sorry for the delay, but catching up on sleep after a busy couple nights at work takes a lot of my first night off. But, I'm here and I'm gonna post one more chapter for this book this week as well as two more for two other books, so keep an eye open this week.
