Tempest - Chapter 14
"C'mon, sweetie. The ice is melting now."
I opened my eyes and saw another super looking over me. She has blue hair with green tips and a matching mask. She looked about twenty five, or around her twenties in age. I recognized her as the super Watermint.
"Watermint?" I groaned, trying to sit up. She helped me and fluffed my pillows up so I could sit straight.
"Yes, honey?" she replied after I'd gotten settled.
"Help me to Blizzard," I said, throwing the bed's covers off of me. Watermint opens her mouth to object, but in the end decides to not oppose me. She helps me out of the cot that I was sitting on and leads me to the stairs. We climb up and get to a door at the top on a landing and she pushes it open after a few hard shoves. What I see is a bit disturbing.
A tornado is plowing through the ice, throwing chunks of snow everywhere. The building's roof was still frozen over, making it slippery and hard to walk on. Blizzard was standing opposite to the tornado, freezing and re-freezing his feet to the rooftop so he wouldn't fall over. I shot into the air and towards Blizzard, hoping he was too preoccupied with keeping his footing to notice a few shocks. I threw a few bolts at him and they hit home, making him shout and curse up up at me. The rough winds and pull of the tornado suddenly stopped, and a laugh was heard. I turned back to see another super floating in the air. Her chocolate-colored skin was shiny and smooth, her teeth white against her face. The wind blew stray locks of curly brown hair away from her face and mask. Her suit and mask was a dark purple, her suit with a tornado on the front. She laughed again as I shocked Blizzard another time. She flew over to me.
"Charge?" she asked. I nodded and smiled a little. "I'm Tempest. Nice to meet you." She greeted, extending a hand for me to shake. I took it.
"Now let's show him what girls can do, yes?" She smirked, the winds picking up speed as she lifted her hands. I nodded and charged up my suit so electricity was crackling around it. We rushed into battle.
I took his left side, Tempest took his right. She twirled mini tornadoes around his arms and feet so he couldn't move, and I shocked him several times before Tempest threw him across the building. We kept this up until Naomi showed up.
She looked blown away (Ha.) and she was panting hard. I flew down to her and she turned invisible again. I saw Blizzard get punched a few times by air and assumed it was Naomi. The ice on the city slowly melts after a few more shocks and hits. But Blizzard laughs cruelly.
"I'll be ba-" he tries. Tempest cuts him off by lifting him into her tornado and flinging him across the city. She smirks.
"Don't you think villains could be a bit less cliche?" she muses, landing on the melting ice of the rooftop. I land next to her and Naomi appears in front of us. I shrug.
"Disappearing Act! Been a while since I've seen you!" Tempest drawls, patting Naomi on the shoulder. Naomi laughs.
"Had to help this one out," she answered, pointing to me. Tempest nods in agreement.
"I'll see you at the Academy?" Tempest asks. Naomi and I both nod.
"See ya," Naomi says as we take to the sky. We fly back to the Academy quickly, landing in the dorm room softly. We strip off our suits and put on some normal civilian clothes. My phone rings in my pocket. It's Kimberley. I answer.
"Kim?" I ask into the phone. Someone shrieks so loud on the other side that I have to cover the phone.
"YES IT'S ME. YOU'VE BEEN GONE EVERY WEEKEND SINCE THAT CRASH. DO YOU HAVE SOMETHING YOU WOULD LIKE TO TELL ME?!" Kim shouted, causing Naomi to raise her eyebrows at me. I cough awkwardly and put the phone back up to my ear.
"Um... Just an internship for something," I reply, getting a nod from Naomi. I got that idea from the Spiderman. All the teenage supers knew about the famous 18-year-old, and the Tony Stark internship. He was one of the best superheroes New York City had. Naomi wanted to meet him one day. The line went silent for a second.
"Fine. Just... remember Thomas?" Kim said on the the phone quietly. I nodded, then realized he couldn't see me.
"Yes."
"We're dating now," Kim whispered so I could barely here. I grinned broadly and freaked out along with him.
"Really?!" I screeched. Kim laughed.
"Yeah!" Kim squealed. I suddenly had an idea.
"I need to make up for the fact that I wasn't here. How about we go out to eat or something?" I proposed. Kim started on a rant about places we could go. I didn't want to go to Sushi Dragon, and Kim didn't really want to go out to eat, so we just settled on going out of town for a group campout. After a few minutes of chattering, we said our goodbyes and the line went dead.
"So that's Kim?" Naomi asked, a weird expression on her face. I nodded. Her face scrunched up and she seemed uncomfortable. She muttered a no-no bad-bad word under her breath and I threw a pillow at her head. She ducked and looked at me.
"What was that for?" We both said at the same time. Naomi shrugged, but something was bothering her, I could tell. I shrugged too and laid back on my bed, exhausted.
"Hey, I think I'm going to skip dinner tonight," I told Naomi. She agreed and climbed up the bunk bed. I covered myself with the bed sheets, still cold from the fight. I closed my eyes and went to sleep.
