CHAPTER THIRTY.

Seokjin.

"Oh my god, I thought you said they fixed the elevator." Jimin groans, clutching at his stomach as he walks past Hoseok to toss his coffee cup in the bin. "They did." Hoseok affirms, glancing back at the younger, who looks still annoyed at the bumpy ride we just took several floors up.

"Well go get your money back. I swear I threw a little mouth, and now I feel more of my breakfast coming up." Jimin grumbles again, pulling out a chair to sit on, before dramatically placing a hand at his chest to slow his breathing. Hoseok rolls his eyes, sighing out at the sight before turning to look at me. "Seriously, you need to get that fixed before it injures someone." I say to him, a little concerned of what might happen in case of an accident.

"Wouldn't be so bad if it's Jimin...."

"Hey, I heard that." Jimin points an accusing finger at the blond male, his manners forgotten, and totally uncaring of the fact that the blond is his boss. Hoseok doesn't seem bothered in the slightest, turning to walk to me, completely ignoring him. Their relationship baffles me at times, always bickering and calling each other names, and making faces. Kind of childish if you ask me, but also kind of cute when you find them sharing yogurt in the office kitchenette and giving judg -y  looks to people only hours later. They are more of siblings than they are foes, fighting one second, then teaming up to fight another the next.

Jimin is my assistant, only twenty five years age. He is young, ambitious, hardworking and has a meek sense of fashion. I have had him for a few months now, and I have to say that I prefer him to the others. To the much older, experienced ones, or the book oriented ones I have been working with. Jimin is more...open minded, he is flexible with his thoughts, and understands what I need. He knows how to do his job well too, and gets it done on time.

He is kind of my friend too. Outside of work he is kind of helpful as well. He is outgoing and social able. He is free, freaky, and and flirty, with an interesting choice in men, and has dragged me and Hoseok for a few boys night out, to have some fun, or whatever the kids these days call getting drunk. These few months I have known him, I have learnt so much from him than any other assistant I have ever had. He is an interesting person, his free and outspoken nature making him visible and unique among the others. He is fond of the CEO Jungkook, and is friends with Jeonghan too, I trust him with a lot.

"I'll get someone to fix it during the course of the day. The guy who worked here the last time, must not have done a good job."

"You think?" Jimin mutters lowly, still rubbing at his chest. Hoseok sighs, momentarily looking at the closed elevator doors, before glaring at Jimin. This building is fairly new, and some of the equipment and infrastructure here are not so efficient, or rather, they haven't been used enough. The private elevator for example, kind of acts up at times. It bumps and tumbles and might put me and someone else in trouble. "Try not to use it much for today, so it could get fixed." I barely use it, unless it's necessary, so it isn't much of an inconvenience to me.

"No problem. Just make sure to inform Jungkook of the same. He might want to use it and it might not be safe." I say, looking at Jimin, who nods before gathering his belongings and leaving my office for his work space.

I look back at Hoseok to find him smiling a bit at me, his heart shaped lips giving his handsome face a delighted look. I admit we've all changed in the last seven years, we've gotten somewhat attractive, or maybe it's that thing that happens when you grow up, have money, and you take care of yourself nicely. But him, he has had this glow up, this new look that is absolutely stunning. Not that he was ugly in the past, absolutely not, but compared to now, he is something. His face features are way defined, dark but pretty eyes, with the most beautiful proportional nose I have ever seen on anyone, and don't get me started on his sharp jawline...

His general physic is admirable too. His running dance studio and his usual work out routine are definitely bearing fruits for him. He has these washboard abs, with incredible arms and thighs, this sexy yet sophisticated look that only doubles up with his way past the roof sense of fashion. He is diverse, characterized, different. He is my best friend.

"How did it go last night?" He asks, knowing well it was our anniversary dinner. He had theorized that Jungkook would do another one of the romantic rooftop dinners, or another fancy restaurant with expensive lovely gifts, and he is here to hear all about it. But I have different news today, I have more happier news.

"It went well, just a casual dinner at home, one he made with Jeonghan, for me." I say with a smile, feeling loved for receiving so much affection. "Then we watched a movie, and the rest is bedroom business..." I conclude biting down smirk as I remember the events from last night. Hoseok furrows his eyebrows, pursuing his lips as I sit down by my desk. "That's it?" He asks confused. He is used to Jungkook going all out and being extravagant, unique with his romantic gestures, I was surprised too to see him do something different.

"It was fun. I liked it." I shrug.

"Did you exchange gifts?" He questions instead, and I nod in earnest, pulling back my sleeve to show him my wrist. "Holy shit, are those diamonds?" He exclaims as he takes in the beaded bracelet on my wrist, stretching out an arm to hold onto my palm for closer inspection. Jungkook put it on me this morning, a little gift he got for our anniversary. We had been too spent the previous night to exchange gifts, so the first thing he did this morning was decorate my arm. I don't wear a lot of accessories on my hand, but I like this one, it's beautiful.

Hoseok studies it long, a little longer than expected, his face taking this far off look, tongue slightly poking at his parted lips in concentration. He is awed, and amazed, and something else that I can't tell. "I am planning a little vacation for us. Not now but in a few weeks or so. Just the two us by the countryside or on a beach or something spectacular. It's my present for him." I say pulling my wrist away. He smiles at me, nodding along. "That thoughtful, you guys work a lot, you need a break. Also it sounds like you had amazing night." He teases, leaning back on his posture.

It was an amazing night, mostly because Jungkook was happy. He had this smile that I hadn't seen in a while, this joy that resulted from me agreeing to finally get married to him. I haven't told Hoseok about that, about the wedding preparations Jungkook and I are starting to formulate. I am not going to tell him that yet, not that there is a specific reason as to why either. I just...I don't know why, but it has been happening, for a while now I have been holding back some fragments of information about my life from him, omitting some parts, or just generally not telling him. It doesn't make sense really, because he is my best friend, and we share everything.

He knows some of my deepest secrets. He has in his grasp, things that only him and I know about me, things that you only tell people you trust. Yet here I am, hiding it from him, or keeping it for now like I like to think I am. I am not sure if this has something to do with him, or me, or maybe both of us, but something is there, one we both haven't addressed.

We have changed tremendously over the past seven years. Not just physically like I had mentioned earlier, but emotionally and mentally too. We are still best friends, we still understand each other by mere looks, but admittedly something has changed about the nature of our friendship. It is different, not necessarily in comparison to the past, just... different. It's difficult to pinpoint exactly, but it's there. I get the sense he knows so too, or at least feels so, but either way we both haven't talked about it.

Hoseok is the company's Operations Manager. He overseas everything that goes on around here and beyond. He keeps track of everything and everyone. He is basically everyone's boss except for me and Jungkook. It's a huge position, even more important for a company as big as this one, and I needed someone I trusted and knew properly, someone who knew me in turn, and could work with my methods, and who better than him?

When Jungkook told me he had ran into Hoseok when he had come out to Seoul without us, I couldn't believe it. I had missed Hoseok so much, and the communications we used to have had died out with the time difference, the distance, and the general changes we were both going through. I knew then and there that if I were to start a company in Korea, I wanted him to oversee my business. I knew he was competent, trustworthy, hardworking, and of course my best friend.

So when I came back to Korea, the first thing I did was sought him out, to reconnect and to pitch him my idea. He had declined at first, stating that he had an active dance studio, and that he wasn't sure he could handle something as huge as this position, but with my convincing, and my need to be close to him, he had finally caved, and with his help, he had assisted Jungkook and I, build this company from the ground.

Now here we are, best friends, working together once more, just like the olden days. He glances at his watch, sighing out before looking at me. "The group will be here any minute, are you ready?" He questions and I nod, although I doubt I am completely ready. I've got this unusual butterflies swirling in my stomach, this crazy heart beat that is making me more anxious than I am already. It isn't nearly this way when I am meeting other famous people, even more the once I've met before like these boys. I am normally composed even when nervous, but then again these boys and their company aren't just any famous people. This deal is so huge, nothing like I have worked with in Korea before, and I guess that has got me a little jittery.

The meeting is scheduled for only three hours, seeing as we have finalized everything with the group. From legal paper work, to documentation, to proper authorization, and everything we need to be in relation with their company. Today they just had to drop by our company, sign some final individual papers, then get a tour of where we were going to work with them. Well, a tour of the indoor places for starters. We've worked all month for today, and I need everything to be perfect.

"I want to brief the designers again before the meeting, can you get them in here now?" Hoseok nods, smiling a little to sooth my anxiety before leaving my office. You know, thinking about it now, I don't why he was here in the first place. Of course he is welcomed in my office, he has access and everything else, but I can't figure out what he must have been doing here while I wasn't in yet.

Shrugging it to the back of my head, I pull out a few files from my desk, going over the final reports for today. Jungkook is pretty busy with everything - chairing two companies at a go - so he won't join till later. Jimin knocks in only minutes after, leading in two ladies, all dressed and ready for the big day. I have worked with them on a few projects since we came back to Korea, and with the discovery of their skills I decided to not make it a one time thing. They work here now, fairly familiar with everything, so they don't waste a second as they get in, settling their files on my desk. "Where is Kim?" I ask Jimin who has gone back to the door, attention seemingly captured by something down the hall.

He narrows his eyes a bit before rolling them...  "Sorry, sorry, I am here now..." Large cargo pants, baggy t shirt, with an equally baggy cardigan, Taehyung comes running into the office in his rubber shoes. His mop of brown hair falling around his forehead and on his round glasses. "I am sorry sir, I was still getting my materials." He says, his tone apologetic, eyes pleading. He is fairly new, only got hired a few months back, and this is the first time I am working with him on a project, so I guess he is still not used to this, and probably thinks I might get mad at him or yell at him for being late.

He is such a nice kid, respectful, polite, and mad skilled with his graphics. It's wonderful what he can do with his hands and materials, weird how his cute nerdy personality contrasts so much with what he does so well. "That's OK Kim, get in, we were just getting started." I smile at him, urging him in to join the table where we have everything laid out. He bows once more, glancing at Jimin for a second, smiling nervously, at the secretary, before making his way into the room.

Jimin subtly smirks at the blush covering the younger's cheeks, knowing well the effect he has on him, the things he is able do draw from Taehyung by simply just looking at him. It's no secret that the kid has a crush on Jimin, well at least not to me or Hoseok. It clear with all the awkward fumbling, the longing stares, and visible need to always approach the assistant. It's cute, kinda, but at times I wonder what Jimin thinks of it, what really his deal is with the younger. I mean he obviously enjoys the attention and the reactions he gets from Taehyung, but at times it leaves me puzzled as to where they are going with that.

Taehyung spreads his final work on the table, bowing to the two ladies, before giving me another apologetic look and a bow. I smile at him patting his back reassuringly. There is just something about him that is so nice,  familiar, kind of. Something about him that I know or has seen somewhere before. Initially, I thought I was mixing him up with someone, but the more I work this closely with him, the more I am starting to think I know him, or at least met him before, although I can never figure out where. I haven't made it a point to ask him either, not trusting my hazy memory and curiosity in the same setting.

We spend the next fifteen minutes going through the presentation, up until the last minute when Hoseok budges into the room, a little pale, and looking rather astonished. "They are here, they are settling in the conference room." He says, and I smile a little, taking in a deep breath. He doesn't seem as relived as I am, face still set in a bit of surprise. He purses his lips for a second, glancing at the others in the room before looking at me.

"They came with some of their executive officials, we weren't expecting them but we can manage, I am guessing they just wanted to drop by and see for themselves what we have going on." He tries to word it nice and slow, but my heart is already hammering in my chest. Of course I've met their CEOS and other company officials, and I don't mind meeting with them again, but I wasn't expecting that for today. I thought it would just be casual with the boys and their managers or something. But oh well...

"It's alright, Mr Min did mention he might drop by again sometime, and if everything is ready, then let's get this show on the road." I say, smiling a little at the guys, who nod along in agreement, picking up their tools and making their way to the conference room.

Hoseok still has a nervous look, files switching from one hand to another. He has met these officials too, so he has no reason to be too worried, it's nothing we can't handle. "It's gonna be ok, don't fret too much." I assure him, leading the way to the conference room, trying to convince him and myself at the same time.

All smiles, I let Jimin who had followed with my files push open the door to the room, where I can already hear the noises and conversations on going. I am met with the cute smiles and the respectful bows from the boys as soon as we enter, bubbly and happy as I remember them. I smile back, elated to be finally doing this, bowing back to the boys, and shaking their hands.

I however freeze in my tracks when I look beside them, to the group of three men and the lady who they brought along - obviously their officials. I am particularly entranced by the guy at the end of the line, on the furthest corner of the room, one of the officials who I have never met before, not for this work at least.

Dark eyes stare back into my now frozen ones.
