Buri

The Tribe of Buri, the Children of Buri, or simply the Buri are a very specific type of Umbreon. A Buri will always be a shiny Umbreon, and will always (almost always, but non-Shiny Umbreon Buri are rare enough to be nonexistent in any sample of the species) be at least larger than the average Umbreon (the typical size of a Buri is equivalent to that of a horse, but some can be house sized). The children of a Buri will usually only become Buri themselves if they are shiny at birth, and evolve into Umbreons. When a Buri is not a shiny Umbreon (this has only happened once in a documented case, in the case of Makurdi Isadesu-Warner), that Buri will be significantly powerful throughout the universe, a closer to all-powerful deity than a regular Buri. Most Buri are very powerful, although they are only immortal if they produce a Buri offspring. They are all descended of one ancestor, usually referred to as Oburi, BuBuri, or something similar. She remains living and stays at the centre of the tribe. The Buri, whilst each able to think independently, can communicate telepathically with the others through Oburi.

The Buri are native to the Black Forest of Germany, and most share a common surname of "Warner." Their language is so different from normal Umbreon language, and Pokemon language in general, that most outsiders cannot understand them. However, the linguistic complexity which they are used to makes learning human languages easier for them than for most other Pokemon. While many Buri stay in the tribe, most have departed, in a global diaspora. They still can communicate with each other telepathically.

Buri is as much species or race as it is religion. They are bound to "Burrewu Bawu o Buri," or "Collective Conscience for Buri People," their religious "law" (although no one is distanced from the Buri by breaking it). The law is expansive and will be covered later in segments.

Buri across the planet have become legendary, and infamous, due to the widely varying interpretations of Burrewu Bawu o Buri as well as their innate hunger for human flesh. They are ruthlessly precise. On occasion, one or two Buri will scope out a town, determining the exact population, and will call in exactly enough Buri to be one for every human. They will then surround the town  and consume all of the inhabitants. Due to an interpretation of one stipulation of Burrewu Bawu o Buri that humans must not be incited to violence against them, the Buri leave no evidence, and no survivors, usually cleaning up the emptied town. Such an event usually only occurs in areas of thinly spread Buri, who don't see each other often, so the event, as morbid as it would seem to a human, has the atmosphere of a backyard party or a family get-together.

Buri do not mate with Buri, as discouraged by the Collective Conscience. Their mates are not members of Buri tribe per se, but they are called "Boahu Wei Buri," or "observing citizens," and are protected by the tribe.
