Train Heartnet x Reader (Black Cat)
*~*670 Words*~*
You sat on the rooftop of your apartment building looking at the city and eating your dinner, a rare steak with some collard greens on the side. Sighing, you take a quick glance at your phone awaiting the next call from your friend and superior with intel about the next big bounty or your next target.
You sigh once more as you go back to eating your dinner, nothing like a good steak in the middle of the night. Alone. In the dark. With no one to talk to.
Alright, it wasn't the best. Especially for a naturally social person like yourself. All you wanted was a normal, peaceful life, but nope. Life didn't want that for you. You had to be tossed through multiple events such as seeing your parents be killed in front of you, turned into a nano-machine and tossed out as a deemed failure, then getting picked up by Chronos and having to deal with them once you denied their request for you to join. Now, being a sweeper and an assassin just to be able to live?
Life just wasn't what you wanted it to be.
"Hey, Wolf," a voice called out to you, pulling you from your internalized thoughts.
"Hey, Cat," you call back knowing exactly who it was. Train Heartnet, otherwise known as No. XIII: Black Cat.
"I thought you'd be down finding yourself something to do, (Y/N)," he said as he took a seat next to you. "I'm surprised to see you up here for once."
You smiled as glanced at the brunette boy next to you. "As much as I love the action, you gotta take a break once in a while, ya know?"
Usually, you didn't open up to people. Especially when you knew that they were a number and could possibly be the one to end you, but it was different between you and Train. You both understood where the other came from, and sure he disliked the fact that you had declined Chronos, but as long as you weren't his target, he enjoyed spending time with you.
"Yeah, I kn-" his sentence was cut off by a sharp ringing coming from next to you. He nods his head, knowing that you'd need to pick up.
"Red Wolf," you introduced.
"Wolf," a voice came through. "I have your next name."
"Affirmative, what would it be?"
"Train Heartnet. Otherwise known as No. XIII: Black Cat." Your eyes widen as you look at the boy laying next to you, casually drinking his milk as he waits for you to get off the phone. You stay silent for a moment, bile building up in your throat.
"Red Wolf, do you copy?"
"...Yes, I copy. I'll proceed with the mission as usual." You hang up the phone as look to Train. "I'm sorry, Train."
"I'm your name?" He asks casually.
"Yes..."
"What if I were to tell you that I'm not actually a number anymore? Would you still follow your order?" He questions, his eyes dead serious.
"I... I don't know."
"Then don't. I'm leaving behind the assassin road and become a stray. Leave the group you're in and find yourself a good pack, one that you can trust," his eyes sincere and words soft, you almost didn't believe what he was saying.
"I... I can't do that, they're my pack and I have to stay loyal."
"If that's your decision, then so be it. I've made mine and already quit Chronos. I'm meeting up with the one who changed my mind at the docks tomorrow for a festival. This will be the last time we see each other and be on the same page, then." He stands up and walks to the edge, ready to go back inside his apartment. "Bye, (Y/N) (L/N), Red Wolf."
As he swings into his apartment, you look up in wonder, your dinner ling forgotten on the tiles. "Should I do the same as him or should I stay on this bloody road?"

So, just a bit of info:
-This chapter is set right after Saya leaves Train's apartment the night
before the festival
-Your codename is "Red Wolf" and it comes from how you kill without remorse and make sure that the scene is bloody and messy. Despite this no one knows what you really are or what else you can do.
-As a sweeper, you go by your own name and as an assassin, as Red Wolf, but introduce yourself as Red Wolf on the phone anyways.
