river is a little complicated, not because she has many layers, but because she can have different attitudes depending on how people treat her. the river most people see is someone who comes off as evil. she seems sadistic, like hurting people, or people in pain pleases her. it's mostly a defence shield. river likes to play games, to turn people against their friends and see if they can reconcile. to her, it's simply seeing if they are truely each other's friends. she judges quickly, finding out what she can about someone and the judges them on that information alone. if they try and break through her walls, get to know her and show her who they really are, she may change her opinion on them. but that's simply what it is, an opinion.

she's protective of one person and one person only (at least for now), her sister, luna. the two have been through a magnificent amount together and river has taken it upon herself to be her protector. she doesn't believe anyone else can do it, or break the hold that luna's power has at each eclipse. she is willing to do anything and everything to save the younger twin. even if herself has to get hurt in the process.

river has a hot temper, despite the element water being more powerful in her. she gets frustrated easily, annoyed when someone asks her a lot of questions, or when she's trying to learn something but can't get a grasp of it. she tends to lash out, growling at anybody trying to talk to her in that moment of frustration, and she's not one to apologise after. river has never hurt someone with these outbursts, generally leaving the situation before she does.

growing up, river knew what her family were. she understood they had an immense amount of power, her mother anyway. both of her parents were witches/warlocks, both strong powered and pure of blood. however, when she was born to the lady and lord witch/warlock with pointed ears, she was almost immediately called an abomination along with her twin sister. her mother had slept with a fae, not thinking of any consequences until her daughters were born. river's father, the warlock, was so furious that he cast a spell on the twin girls so their power would be locked away. he didn't plan on them ever getting it back, just becoming mere mortals with fae ears. river's name was chosen due to the appearance of her wings that appeared as her father cast the spell just after she was born. her mother could tell that would've been her element, water, liquid. her personality said differently of course, but her upbringing was a part of why she hadn't been a free flowing girl, careless to peoples thoughts and stares.

then came her fifteenth birthday and her biological father showed up. he hadn't been told about the birth of his twin daughters, hadn't so much as gotten a word that twin witches had been born. the warlock had done many spells when he'd found out what the girls were, who their real father was. he'd been crown king since river's birth. had acquired a great amount of power and allies. including a young witch not much older than the girls who forced the warlock to unlock the twins power. he was badly injured afterwards, scarred by the king fae's element of fire. river and her twin sister were moved to the king fae's kingdom, lived with the witch who released their power, until they turned seventeen. then they went to a royals school, an academy. a high prestige one that would teach them everything else they needed to know.
