Zane was spending the morning trying to teach his much loved little brother Echo how to play Nindroid Chess. Echo, on the other hand, was scratching the back of his head out of confusion.
"Hey, Echo. How come you're not by (Y/N)'s side?" Ronin asked the copper nindroid. Dareth punched Ronin in the shoulder. "What?" Ronin hissed as he rubbed the spot on his arm.
Echo looked over at the bounty hunter with a forlorn expression. "Mr Pythor says that I must keep a distance to (Y/N) so she can keep her mind focused on winning." Echo said somberly.
"Winning? More like keep her violent." Nya said continuing to punch the heavy punching bag that she'd borrowed from the Nexo Knights that morning. "Haven't you noticed she's getting more and more hostile." Nya pointed out to the others while landing another punch on the bag causing it to sway back and forth on the tree branch.
Jay and Cole both nodded in agreement. "There's something in her that's become so cold." Kai spoke up. "Become? It's almost like it was never warm to begin with." Jay stated.
"I don't get it? What changed?" Cole questioned. "We did." Lloyd said out loud. Everyone turned to look at the green ninja. "Not like that." Lloyd explained. "The first time (Y/N) fought Hela she was somehow flung into Ninjago, lost most of her memories and met us but then... Nadakhan happened..." Lloyd's voice trailed off for a few painful moments before he spoke again. "She never escaped this life..."
"Um... Is this a bad time to mention that after she fought the Preeminent she started hearing voices in her head telling her to come back?" Ronin blurted out. "WHAT!?" The Ninja's collectively screamed at the thief.
"Thought so." Ronin said under his breath. "Explain! Now!" Kai demanded sizing-up the thief turned bounty hunter.
"Whoa! Easy there hot head!" Ronin spat back. "I've still got a few Vengestone weaponry in my arsenal that can take you all down."
"Ronin! Kai! back off! Dareth explain!" Nya loudly demanded. Dearth let out a tiny yelp and hid behind Ronin.
"Leave him alone!" Ronin hissed warningly at the Master of Water. Not wanting a fight to break out Dareth chose to speak abruptly from the safety behind Ronin.
"F-from what I heard i-it was more like singing and it only got worse when she had those shards of Vengestone in her arm." Dareth told them. "The thing with the Vengestone stopped when Jay's parents removed it."
"Oh, man I just realised something." Jay said in a panic. "How am I going to tell my parents about (Y/N)."
"First things, first Jay." Cole responded to his loud-mouthed friend's sudden realisation.
"Singing? Perhaps the Siren of Seaguard was responsible?" Zane theorised. "I wouldn't put it past these monsters." Nya commented in disgust.
"Is (Y/N) in trouble? Echo asked rather worried for his friend. "Don't worry Echo. This will be solved soon enough, just hang in there." Dareth promised the copper nindroid. Echo gave a small smile and returned to his game.
"Checkmate." Zane declared and Echo conceded the match to his older brother. "That was fast." Jay commented and Nya slapped him upside the head. "Jay don't be rude." Nya angrily hissed at him. "I didn't mean it like that." Jay loudly protested. "I was only saying that Zane has gotten even fast with his times."
"Whatever. Think before you open your mouth." Nya scolded the Master of Lightning. "Come on, it's almost time." Kai called out to the others when he noticed Sharkeradotaking his post.
As the ninja's got up to leave Echo turned to his brother. "Zane, may I come too?" Echo pleaded with his big brother. "Of course." Zane replied to his little brother's request.
"Are you coming?" Echo asked Ronin and Dareth. "No thanks, we'll sit this one out." Dareth politely declined to Echo offers. Neither one of them wanted to attend given the recent hostility from the ninjas.
Echo accepted their polite refusal and happily joined up with his brother in waiting in line to enter the Castle.

While everyone else was waiting in line to enter the Castle. The Book of Monsters and Jestro were waiting for Lavaria to meet up and give them her report behind the Evil Mobile.
A Berry Gobblin rolled behind the Evil Mobile and shapeshifted into Lavaria. "Did I come at a bad time?" Lavaria asked. "Not at all." Jestro said with a smile. Lavaria smiled back.
"So, what have you found?" The Book of Monsters questioned the spy. "There isn't much. But I have discovered a locked room. It appears to be sealed and so far no key or outside entrance has been located." Lavaria reported to her masters.
"Hm." The Book of Monsters said thinking it over. "Interesting."
"What's so interesting about a locked door?" Jestro questioned causing the Book of Monsters to let out a frustrated sigh. "The things I put up with for evil's sake." The Book of Monsters muttered under his breath.
"It's not the locked door Joke boy. It's what could be inside the locked room." The Book of Monsters loudly explained. "Oh." Jestro said out loud.
"Come on. Let's get in there." The Book of Monsters ordered. "Good work, Lavaria. You will be accompanying us today."
"Yes, my Masters." Lavaria obediently responded and followed them to lining up behind the others to enter the Castle.

__ Nexo Knights __
Once inside Zane spotted (Y/N). She was speaking with Pythor and the Elm of the Dark Realm. (Y/N) was standing there perfectly stiff as the pair continued to instruct her.
Zane wasn't sure he was going to be able to even get close enough to declare his challenge until Mate Squiddybeard arrived to inform (Y/N) that there was trouble at the front gate.
"I'll handle this." The Elm of the Dark Realm loudly proclaimed before storming off towards the front gate of the castle.
Seeing his chance Zane steps forward. "Miss (Y/N)." Zane asked as he walked up to her.
"Yes, Cryomancer?" She replied, turning to face him. "My challenge is to play Nindroid chess." Zane said declaring his choice of challenge.
"Nindroid chest?" She asked, blinking at Zane clearly confused. "Do not know what Nindroid chess is?" Zane asked. "... I do not." (Y/N) answered truthfully.
"Well allow me to explain the rules." Zane said and began to explain the rules of Nindroid Chess to her.
"Ah, a challenge of problem solving." The Book of Monsters said unenthused. "Can't wait to see these humans blow that." The Book of Monsters loudly chuckled to Jestro.
"Wait!? The challenges don't have to involve fighting?!" Jay shouted at the living book. "No." The Book of Monsters answered giving Jay the side-eye.
"Didn't you know that?" The Book of Monsters said with a sly smile. "Argh! No! If I had known I would have chosen video games if I knew!" Jay shouted at the top of his lungs.
"What's video games?" (Y/N) asked, adding to the Master of Lightning's frustration. "ARGH!" Jay shouted louder. "Sorry, Jay." Cole said. "I didn't know."
"So where will we be playing?" Zane asked the monsters. "Does this place have a library or something?" The Book of Monsters slyly suggested. "Hm, we could use Hela's old library." Mate Squiddybeard said thinking out loud.
"Hela's library?" (Y/N) said rather warily. "Is that safe?" (Y/N) questioned the Sea Monster. "Probably not." Mate Squiddybeard said rubbing his claw. "But it would be the best place." Mate Squiddybeard assessed.
With no other plan, they all made their way to a heavy set of thick bolted doors with an even bigger lock on the door.
"How do we even open that lock." Mate Squiddybeard asked rubbing his facial tentacles. "Do we even have the key?" (Y/N) asked studying at the heavy lock. "I don't know. We've been looking for keys to locked rooms the last few days but some are missing." Mate Squiddybeard replied as he crossed his arms in front of his chest and tapped his claw on his arm as he tried to think of a solution.
"Do you think Sharkerado could rip it off?" (Y/N) pondered. "I would advise it." Mate Squiddybeard said in a low voice so as not to be overheard. "Hela most likely-"
"I could melt the lock." Kai offered as a solution and cutting off (Y/N) and Mate Squiddybeard's conversation the pair gave each other a wary look. "Um..." (Y/N) began to say but Kai went ahead with his idea anyway before he could be stopped. Kai fist lit up with fire and held it under the lock. There was a flash and Kai was thrown across the hall.
"It might be enchanted." (Y/N) finished saying to the Master of Fire. "Noted." Kai groaned as Lloyd and Nya pulled him out of the suit of armour he'd gone flying into.
Mate Squiddybeard examined the lock. "Any idea?" (Y/N) asked the Sea Monster. "If Hela placed some magic on that we're not getting through." Mate Squiddybeard said with a definitive nod.
"Sorry, we're late." Clay said catching up to the groups. "Sharkerado refused to let us enter at first until the Elm of the Dark Realm ordered that he let us in."
(Y/N) and Mate Squiddybeard shared another look this time of confusion but otherwise said nothing but it was clear that neither agreed to this.
"You may come." (Y/N) announced after a few moments and despite the general lack of emotion on her face it pretty much broadcasted 'but I refuse to be happy about it.'
"Cool but where are we going?" Aaron asked doing a flip on his hoverboard.
"Hela's library has been chosen as the location for the next challenge but there is an enchantment on the door so we are looking for another way in." (Y/N) explained to the unexpected latecomers.
"A library!" Lance loudly whinnied. "Why are we going to someplace as boring as that." Everyone just ignored the spoilt knight's mini tantrum and continued on with what they were doing.
"So anyone got any bright ideas?" Macy asked the group. Axl was already beginning to warm up to shoulder check the door. "Don't charge the door." (Y/N) warned before anyone tried anything. "It's enchanted. It will hurt."
"So you got another bright idea?" Axl asked the sorceress. "Where's the closest adjoining wall to this room?" (Y/N) asked Mate Squiddybeard. Mate Squiddybeard simply shrugs, architecture was never his thing the open sea was.
(Y/N) sighs and recites a spell:
"I seek entrance to the hidden,
Where knowledge is not forbidden,
I seek the cage of the strange,
Where dangerous tomes remain."
Purple fog converges into a kind of snake that slithers through the air. They follow after it as it darts down the hall and around corners and into a room. They come crashing into the room just in time to see the spell fly into a mirror mounted on the wall.
"Hu?" Jestro said looking around the room. "Ew, this place is so dirty!" Lance whined at all the dust and cobwebs.
There were a few old and rusty oil lamps half covered by a dusty sheet. Some were broken and others had no oil to light but Kai quickly lit up the working oil lamps for everyone and handed them out.
"Everyone spread out and search." The Book of Monsters orders. "Where do you get off ordering us around." Macy demanded but the book ignored her and was already searching alongside Jestro.
Macy looked to (Y/N) but she was already investigating before the sentient book had even opened his mouth.
To no one's surprise, Lance had begun admiring himself in the mirror. Clay shook his head at the spoilt knight. "I look good." Lance said admiring himself in the mirror.
"And I thought Kai was a narcissist." Jay snorted and Cole laughed at the stuck up Nexo Knight. "Hey!" Kai objected but the others just continued to snicker.
(Y/N) pressed her free hand along the wall in hopes of finding a weak point in the stone. But was so far having no luck.
Lance continued to happily preen himself in the mirror. (Y/N) rolled her eyes at the vain Nexo Knight. When thanks to the light of the oil lamp something caught her eye. Hinges. The mirror had hinges.
(Y/N) abruptly shoved the Nexo Knight out of the way and closely examined the mirror. "Hey!" Lance loudly whined like a petulant child. "I wasn't done admiring myself!"
(Y/N) pulled on the wall mirror until it opened to reveal a jagged hole that leads into the next room.
"A hidden entry, hidden behind a mirror?" Clay gasped. "That's weird." Nya commented.
"That door at the front was just a decoy." (Y/N) lamented in annoyance. "This must be the real entryway."
"Ugh. I have a bad feeling about this." Lance groaned. "We probably shouldn't go in." Axl whispers. "Yeah..." Aaron agrees. "But we probably will." He says with a huge grin.
"Who would hide books?" Axl says scratching the top of his head. "Someone who didn't want them found." Clay says with determination. "Or didn't want them to escape."
(Y/N) snorts and steps through the jagged hole in the mirror doorway first. The sheer size of the library was impressive; The sinisterly dark long-abandoned library was full of tens of thousands of books; on shelves along the walls as well as free-standing shelves; that made narrow rows of bookshelves filled with maps, sheet music, manuscripts, rare books and special collections of rare materials and items.
"All the knowledge that could be hidden in here. Move it." The Book of Monsters ordered the Book Keeper and Jestro took off into the library. "Knights! After them!" Clay shouted and the Nexo Knights took off into the library.
Once they were out of sight Pythor chose to speak. "Aren't you going to stop them." Pythor questioned her. "If those idiots want to go tripping every trap in this place for us. I say let them." (Y/N) said with a sly smile.
The ninjas frowned, It was just like Nya had said (Y/N) was becoming darker and Pythor was making sure of it.
"Now. Let's find a safe place to play." (Y/N) said slapping her hands together.

__ Nexo Knights __
The Nexo Knights were carefully traversing the narrow walkways caused by the heavy, dust-covered, cobweb-infested bookshelves as quickly as they could.
The Nexo Knights came to a junction in the paths of the bookshelves. Macy points to the floor, where recent footprints disrupted the carpet-like layer of dust. "Jestro must have come through here." Macy declared pointing out the tracks.
"They're not the only one's." Aaron pointed out a trail of footprints that went down the other walkway. "What?" Clay said comparing both sets of tracks.
"We'll split up Macy and Lance with me. Aaron and Axl take the other walkway." Clay ordered and with that, the Nexo knights split up.
Once they were out of sight Lavaria revealed herself and let out a quiet laugh.
Having successfully given the Nexo Knights the slip. Jestro glanced at the walls of ancient tomes. These books were centuries-old with old leather-bound covers with engravings depicting unpleasant creatures, prophecies of certain doom and spells that do the unspeakable.
The Book of Monsters was sniffing the air trying to suss out the smell of magic. "Wow! This Hela must have really liked reading." Jestro said out loud. "Eh, not really." The Book of Monsters said shifting his pages.
"Sometimes people collect these books for their step-by-step guides to bringing about their evil plans. The Book of Monsters explained to the twisted jester.
Jestro began to list off some of the books on the wall. "An idiot's guide to Monsterology, A guide to gardening horrors, The handyman's guide to building an evil fortress, Chicken soup for the soulless and a beginners guide to the power of the brown note? What are all these?" Jestro asked the sentient book.
"Things that people were not meant to know, Joke boy. Artifacts of doom, tomes of cosmic horror that typically drive the reader into gibbering insanity. You know that kind of standard thing." The Book of Monsters said nonchalantly before returning to sniffing the air.
"So what are we looking for?" Jestro asked the sentient book. "We'll know it when we see it, Joke boy." The Book of Monsters sinisterly announced.

__ Nexo Knights __
Zane carefully watched (Y/N) manipulate a chessboard was like watching her face down an enemy. (Y/N) examined the pieces with idle glee before moving them and then challenged with her eyes for Zane to come up with a move that she couldn't predict.
To a Nindroid, the worth of a game like nindroid chess also came from the mental exercise involved: predicting favourable outcomes and exercising an effective strategy. That included the moves of their opponent.
(Y/N) maybe a remarkable strategist and perceptive to the point where she could garner from that skill exactly what buttons to push and when to push them, yet although she possessed great confidence she oftentimes seemed equal parts defensive, insecure and volatile.
He would figure (Y/N) out eventually. It simply required more observation and the right accumulation of data.
"Will one of you just give up already!" Kai loudly whined at the pair.
Zane glared at Kai and (Y/N) just ignored the Master of Fire. "Just because you cannot beat me doesn't mean (Y/N) cannot!" Zane scolded his brother.
"But you've been playing for hours!" Kai loudly complained. "I'm so bored!"
For the past half an hour that Zane had been playing chess against (Y/N), and so far, neither of them had won or lost.
The others had quickly given up watching, as it seemed to take a good fifteen minutes before either of them would make a move and only Echo and Pythor had stayed behind to watch. With others coming back every so often to see if anything had changed.
"This is boringgg!" Kai shot back. "All you two do is stare at each other, think for a while and then move a pawn or something. Neither of you is even close to winning yet!" Kai continued to whine.
"Ah, but neither of us is losing either." Zane said triumphantly. Kai's face immediately fell as Zane moved his rook. Kai let out a frustrated moan.
"Leave us!" (Y/N) snapped at the childish Master of Fire. Zane felt the corner of his mouth twitch as Kai let out a loud whine and walked back out of the library.
The game resumed with Zane's constant reminiscent gazes and (Y/N)'s stiff refusal to speak. The tension in the air rose slightly but it felt competitive and friendly. After a while of only muttered comments to each other, Zane glanced up at (Y/N)'s calculating, (E/C) eyes.
"Your moves are chaotic yet logical... I shall devise a plan shortly to defeat you." Zane proudly commented with confidence. (Y/N) simply grunted back at the Master of Ice and scratched at her right arm but remained focused on the game.
"Are you well?" Zane asked trying to make small talk. "Quite well." (Y/N) retorted curtly and Zane nodded seemingly glad for this development but still regarding his counterpart thoughtfully.
"Frustrated Cryomancer?" (Y/N) teased and Zane straightened in his seat. "Certainly not. You play nearly identical to my (Y/N). It is fascinating to me." Zane commented. (Y/N)'s eyes narrowed at him for daring to say that but she otherwise said nothing.
(Y/N) glanced at Zane, the nindroid held a curious look in his eyes. "Are you purposefully antagonising me, Cryomancer?" She asked calmly and the Nindroid gave a tiny shrug.
"I was under the impression that we were engaging both in a match of nindroid chess and an intellectual conversation." Zane innocently replied and (Y/N)'s eyebrows knitted closely.
They met gazes with a clash, one challenging and the other determining whether it would be prudent to rise to it. This was no longer just a game of nindroid chess; it was a battle of wills and snide comments. But who would lose their resolve first.
Pythor happily leaned back in the dusty armchair that he'd procured for himself with smug self-satisfaction. At the coldness in (Y/N)'s eyes. She'd make a fine Anacondrai warrior; he was sure of it.
He had no doubt that she would bring honour to her ancestors and punish those who had murdered and imprisoned the clan. They would be avenged.
Pythor lastly glanced at Echo. The copper nindroid stood by worrying he didn't want his brother or his friend to hurt each other. For a nindroid, the boy was far too soft in Pythor's honest opinion.
That is why he had to be kept at arms length for (Y/N) for the duration of the tournament then the subsequent investigation into which one of the elemental masters had been one to start the war.
Zane had decided he would be the first to strike. "Miss (Y/N) I find that I have so many apologies to make to you that I find I do not have the words to begin." Zane commented, causing (Y/N) to pause mid-move. She seemed to compose herself, setting her pawn down.
"Come again?" (Y/N) replied. "I have wronged you egregiously." He said quietly. His next words were whispered so softly that (Y/N) had to strain to hear the Master of Ice. "I will understand if my actions are beyond forgiveness." Zane said somberly.
(Y/N) blinked. "Wronged me?" She asked, bewildered. "Wronged me how?"
"You wished yourself away." Zane said somberly. "That should never have happened."
(Y/N) merely shrugged awkwardly in response. "Don't worry about all that anymore. I'm not mad at you. I don't even know who you are." (Y/N) said in a jovial tone which unnerved the Master of Ice.
Zane uncomfortably folded his arms over his chest and briefly closed his eyes. "That is not the point." Zane remarked. "It should not have happened in the first place."
"Well, no undoing it now. Not like you can wish it all away." (Y/N) noted moving her knight out of harms way from Zane's rook.
"I would prefer it if you would stop this madness and return home with us. I am confident that we will find a way to restore your lost memories if need be." Zane stated moving one of his pawns in an attempt to bait miss (Y/N) in coming after his bishop.
"My memories are fine." (Y/N) answered curtly. "It is you who seems to have a problem grasping that fact."
"And I would prefer if you people realised your ally is gone. You killed her and she's isn't coming back. I'm not her and you people need to get over that." (Y/N) said in a matter of fact tone.
"But don't think I'm mad about that. If you lot hadn't killed her I would have been able to save my people." (Y/N) said moving her rook.
"Even though I am grateful for you and your little group's act of homicide. Don't expect any mercy from me." (Y/N) declared taking one of Zane's pawns, the captured pawn now disintegrating in her palm thanks to her dark magic. "I have a job to do."
Pythor gave a nasty satisfied grin at hearing that. This was all going as well as he planned.

Using the little light from the oil lamp. Clay looked at his surroundings, he was standing in a large corridor that looked like the bookshelves were carved centuries ago. Along each wall were small alcoves that had held full plate medieval suits of armour.
Lance let out a bored sigh he didn't know how long they'd been walking but it felt like they had been in this underground maze of a library forever. Lance cursed himself for following the other Nexo Knights into this cursed maze.
As Lance was just about to turn to search the other way to what Clay and Macy were walking down he spotted a mirror. As he got closer he saw that it was, in fact, a crystal clear mirror.
Lance became instantly enchanted by his reflection in this crystal clear mirror. "Hello, beautiful!" Lance said to his reflection.
Once Clay and Macy realised Lance was missing they went to call after him when there was a noisy crash coming from the bend in front of them.
Clay and Macy quickly stopped in their tracks; Clay slowly crept towards the corner and carefully peeked around it. In the centre of the corridor stood three suits of armour each were carrying various weapons.
The suits of armour turned around and faced towards the Nexo Knights. Clay pulled out his sword and Macy powered up her mace.
Twenty suits of armour came running from the second corridor, their weapons ready to strike down the two Nexo Knights. Clay quickly brought his sword up to defend himself from the suits of armour attack. Macy did exactly the same, sinking her mace into the helm of one of the suits soon the corridor rang with the sound of battle.
Clay and Macy were holding their own against the suits of armour. Clay was sure they were going to easily win.
"Lance!" Macy shouted for the white knight. "Where are you?!" Macy dodged an incoming attack and used her shield to repel her attacker.
"There! I see him!" Clay shouted and pointed to Lance standing in front of a full-length mirror.
"Lance! Stop ogling yourself and help!" Macy screamed at Lance but Lance didn't move. "Lance! Your hair looks ugly!" Macy shouted in an attempt to get his attention but still, Lance continued to stare lovingly into the mirror at his reflection.
"Clay! Somethings wrong with Lance!" May yelled to the blue knight. "It's like he's hypnotised." "Cover me, I'll get him." Clay declared, blocking against an attack.
As he reached the middle of the corridor when the floor gave way and Clay was sent falling into a pit of sharp spears. Clay managed to miraculously stick his claymore into the wall of the pit just barely missing the spikes.
In one corner of the spiked pit lay the skeletal body of another unfortunate victim of this deadly maze-like library.
"Clay!" Macy screamed. "I'm ok. But I can't get back up!" Clay shouted back. Macy went to help but was cut off by the arrival of more suits of armour.
"Help!" Macy and Clay shouted for the others.
East of the trio, Axl and Aaron were making their way towards the screams of Clay and Macy.
The pair were running full sprint towards the screams but the corridor of bookshelves seemed to go on forever.
Aaron spun around as he heard the whistle of an arrow flying through the air, with inhuman speed he flipped his hoverboard. The arrow just barely missing the archer.
Axl turned to see Macy battling valiantly against seven suits of armour. Macy was holding off the attacks but was clearly running out of steam.
The pit was too large for Axl to jump over without a running jump. The giant of a knight backed up to get a running start. Suddenly there was a sound of a click from the ground and the walls began to rumble. The bookshelf slowly began to move, Axl began to push the bookshelf to stop it from moving and crushing him and Aaron.
Aaron spotted one of the suits of armour reloading a crossbow and aimed it towards Macy's back. "Aaron, go!" Axl yelled at his friend. "I've got this!"
Aaron then sped over to Macy making it over the pit thanks to his hoverboard and dived in front of the arrow meant for Macy. The arrow pierced his nexo armour right into his right shoulder.
"Argh!" Aaron screamed as he hit the dusty floor. "Aaron! What's wrong?" Macy yelled as she helped steady Aaron while fending off the suits of armour.
"I'm not sure." Aaron said weakly. He then reached up to the arrow sticking out of his right shoulder. "Help me pull this out." Aaron said as the suits of armour started to regroup and reassemble themselves.
Macy was hesitant for a movement and then reached out and grabbed hold of the arrow. Aaron braced himself against the pain as Macy pulled as hard as she could and tore the arrow from Aaron's shoulder.
"Hand it to me." Aaron said once he got his breath back. Macy handed the bloody arrow to Aaron. Aaron examined the arrow pointed head in his shaking hand before turning to Macy. "Dude, this nasty arrow is covered in poison."
"What are you going to do?" Macy asked. Sweat was pouring down the archers face as he struggled to stay on his feet. Aaron took a step forward and stumbled and almost fell when Macy caught him.
"Help!" Macy called out. Lavaria smirked to herself from the shadows then strolled away leaving the Nexo Knights to their fate.

The Ninjas had unfortunately discovered that this place was not only dark, silent and full of not only cobwebs, dust and shabby, crumbling books but also held the remains of a clothed skeleton in librarian apparel.
"Charming." Nya said in a sarcastic tone after briefly examining the skeleton with the oil lamp.
Cole paused to look at bookshelves, the shelves were lined with books so old they are mostly scrolls and parchments. Some of the books had been moved rather recently.
Lloyd figured it had to be Jestro and gingerly turns over the book before picking it up, trying to figure out what Jestro may have wanted from these books and to anticipate how he might protect his friends from whatever the demented jester has in store.
"Lloyd?" Nya politely called after the Green Ninja. In surprise, Lloyd drops the book on his foot. "Yeah." Lloyd responded hoping because of his injured foot. "Listen, Lloyd, how are you?" Nya inquired as Lloyd quickly gathered up the dropped book and placed it back on the self.
"It's nothing. I am fine, no injuries. It was just a book." Lloyd answered with a slight chuckle.
"No Lloyd, I mean... you know... with everything." Nya said crossing her arms as she openly stared at the Green Ninja.
Lloyd stared back in awkward silence at the Master of Water for a moment.
"I mean, emotionally speaking." Nya stated and Lloyd stared at her causing her to sigh heavily. "I'm talking about your up and coming fight with (Y/N)." Nya said frankly.
"Nya." Lloyd slowly responded. "I wish none of this ever happened." Lloyd admitted. The Master of Water bristled at that word. Wish Nya would never be able to think of that word the same ever again.
"It... It hurts. She was my best friend, my protector and now she doesn't even know who I am... Or what we meant to each other. She was there for me when I was little and had no one. When my dad..." Lloyd had to stop talking. It hurt just too much to speak. Tears started to build up in Lloyd's eyes.
"Oh, Lloyd. I'm so sorry this is happening to you." Nya exclaimed to the Green Ninja.
"I'm sick of losing family Nya." Lloyd quietly admitted. "I know how you feel." Nya admitted as well. "I'm scared of losing Kai. He's the only family I have and I can't imagine losing him."
"Lloyd can you ever forgive me." Nya asked. "I made that selfish wish. I led you astray and betrayed yours and everyone else's trust."
"Nya I've already forgiven you." Lloyd said honestly. "I've forgiven everyone."
"Now I just want-" "HELP!" A chorus of voices rang out and the ninja quickly followed the cries for help.
As the ninja began to make their way towards the west section of the corridors of bookshelves when terrible screams echoed from the eastern sections of the corridors of bookshelves.
Jay spun around as he heard the whistle of an arrow flying through the air, with lightning-like speed his hand shot out and snatched the arrow out of the air just inches from Nya's face.
Down the corridor stood a suit of armour, holding a crossbow aimed towards the ninja. As well as their new allies all trapped in precarious positions just behind the wall of armour.
"Well, let's see how these tin cans fare against us." Jay declared snapping the arrow in his hand.
Cole cracked his knuckles, ready to fight. Lloyd then reached behind his back and withdrew his sword and held it above his head. Jay pulled out his nunchucks and Nya summoned some water.
A small group of the suits of armour came charging around the corner and towards the ninjas.
Cole walked over to the wall of the corridor. Cole delivered an incredible punch into the stone wall of the corridor where some of the bookshelves were lined up. The wall began to crack and crumble.
Cole delivered another thunderous punch to the wall. Large chunks of the wall began to fall hitting the bookshelves causing them to fall over. Crushing the oncoming suits of armour. The suits of armour tried to get out of the way of the falling bookshelves but were crushed as they tried to escape.
As the sound of more suits of armour were getting closer. Lloyd swung his sword up and a bolt of energy raced along the blade and struck the roof of the corridor.
A pile of rocks fell from the roof and buried the reinforcements.
"YEAH!" The ninja loudly cheered. The sound of premature celebration were cut short by the sound of heavy flapping wings.
Suddenly flying books shot out of the darkness and flew towards Lloyd. Lloyd raised his sword just in time to deflect a blow from the book's razor-sharp pages. Lloyd quickly spun around as the book flew into the darkness again.
Nya and Cole had managed to dodge the attack but Jay hadn't been so lucky and caught a paper cut to the face.
The Ninjas and Nexo Knights listened to the flaps of the book's wings as it circled around for another attack.
The flying books shot towards Nya and the Master of Water holds them off with a stream of water. Jay shocks them with his lightning. The bolts struck some of the incoming books stunning them.
Raising his sword Lloyd aimed it at the books as they swooped around, and managed to cut some in half.
"Strong little creatures." Nya said spraying them down with her water. "We had better find a way to escape and fast."

Lavaria promptly rejoined her Masters on their search through the late Queen's twisted library of horrors.
"How did it go?" The Book of Monsters asked the masterful spy. "Hook, line and sinker!" Lavaria loudly laughed.
The Book of Monsters returned to sniffing the air. "We're close." The Book of Monsters declared. "Move dummy." The Book of Monsters ordered the Book Keeper.
The Book Keeper quickly took off at high speeds. Jestro and Lavaria following close behind.
"We're getting close. I can smell it." The living book proclaimed as they rounded another corner before coming to a stop.
"Why'd we stop?" Jestro asked the book. It's close. It can taste it." The book declared. "Spread out somethings around here somewhere." The Book of Monsters ordered.
They quickly spread out trying to suss out any clue. Jestro notices a book sitting slightly out of place on a nearby shelf and pushes it back into place causing a self to swing open and reveal what it was hiding.
It was a little reading nook.
A single table covered in dust but it looked the most recently used out of all the dust-covered room. Jestro picks up a scroll with just his fingertips, afraid that even touching the ancient paper will turn it into a pile of dust.
"That's it?" Lavaria said out loud in frustration. Jestro paused for a moment before stepping in to inspect it for himself.
Jestro holds up the parchment. Most of the words have been erased. Only a few remain, as if whoever erased the other words couldn't quite scrub out the last few: "Karma is a delicate balance; when it falls out of balance disaster follows. Necromancy is an affront to the natural order." Jestro read out loud.
"What are these useless ramblings?" The Book of Monsters balked in annoyance.
"What do you think it means?" Jestro asked his mentor. "Pfft. Nothing! It's just useless scribbles." The Book of Monsters sighed in disappointment at the lacklustre discovery.
"So, what now?" Lavaria questioned her Masters. "We might as well head back to the entrance." The Book of Monsters said with a shrug. "On the plus side, the Nexo Knights might bite it." Jestro offered as a consultation.
"Oh, good point." The Book of Monsters said with a sinister smile his mood turning from disappointed to happy.
"Wait? What's that sound?" Lavaria questioned her Masters and they all paused to listen. "Bats?" Jestro said out loud. The Book of Monsters shushed Jestro and went back to listening. "That's no bat." The Book of Monsters said in an alarmed tone.

Kai groaned and threw his hands in the air once more. "Oh my Spinjitzu Master, will you two just call it a draw already?!" Kai pleaded with them.
"Go away! Pyromancer!" (Y/N) hissed at him. "Kai, you are distracting us. Please leave." Zane scolded the Master of Fire. "Fine!" Kai sighed and goes to walk off.
Returning to their game Zane notes her latest move. "That's a rather unorthodox move, Miss (Y/N). Do you think it wise?" Zane commented on his opponent's choice.
"We'll see." (Y/N) responded in a teasing tone. Zane stared down at the board. "The way your mind works is a source of endless fascination to me." The Master of Ice remarked.
"Not used to losing, are you?" (Y/N) responded with a smirk. She was more than willing to trade verbal jabs with the Cryomancer.
"I have not yet lost." Zane said confidently as he picked up his knight.
"Is that so?" (Y/N) responded sliding her rook through an opening. She couldn't help but laugh at the astonished look, albeit quickly hidden, that passed over the Master of Ice's features.
Zane nodded, still staring down at (Y/N)'s last move. Zane looked up and confidently smiled at her. "I believe I have figured out your method of play. I will not again be so easily deceived." Zane declared with absolute certainty.
"I highly doubt that." (Y/N) chuckled. "Although I must confess. You are unique, Cryomancer." (Y/N) said moving her piece. "Please call me Zane." The Master of Ice insisted, moving his Queen to safety.
"It has been my experience that humans generally fear or hate that which they do not understand. Yet you choose to side with them anyway. Is it because you were created by one?" (Y/N) said.
"I find I do not agree with your comment about humans. It might have been that way in the past, but that is no longer the case." Zane stated taking one of (Y/N) pieces.
"I very much doubt that too, Cryo—Zane." (Y/N) said, taking one of Zane's pawns in retaliation to the one she had lost.
"What do you mean? Has someone been disrespectful to you?" Zane innocently questioned.
"All my life. You have set the example of expected behaviour on a ship and your crew will follow it implicitly." (Y/N) informed the nindroid.
Zane paused for a moment to consider the cryptic message before resuming his turn.
"I would venture to say that you are right." Zane admitted. "As long as you stay in power." Zane warned taking another pawn. (Y/N) took a strong dislike to the tone the Elemental Master was using. Pythor gave a nod of approval and (Y/N) began to speak.
"That is what it always boils down to power." (Y/N) said with a strong conviction. "With power, you can do whatever you want." (Y/N) narrowed her eyes at Zane and then went back to the board for a move.
"Take the Kingdom of Knighton. The royal family and those sycophants called nobles can do whatever they want. Another human displeases them and all sorts of nasty things happen to them." (Y/N) said amiably, moving her bishop away from Zane's knight.
"Or maybe you're more partial to what you know; the Elemental Masters for example. They get away with the same stuff; thievery, wars, murder, genocide and no-one bats an eye."
Zane raised an eyebrow in response and (Y/N) continued her little speech. "So don't get all high and mighty with me. I know their dirty little secrets. I just don't ignore them like you and everyone else chooses too. And I'll punish them for it too. It is my job after all."
"But why?" Zane asked. "Pardon?" (Y/N) responded. "Why is it your job to do such things?" Zane reiterated his question, diverting the conversation back onto its proper course.
"It's my job. What I was made to do." (Y/N) answered bluntly. Zane could sense that she didn't understand what he meant by that statement.
"I was built to protect those who cannot protect themselves." Zane proudly stated and moved his Knight again in the hunt for (Y/N)'s Queen this time.
"Hela created me to destroy." (Y/N) stated in turn. (Y/N) reached for her Queen, getting her away from the pursuit of Zane's knight.
"And I know for a fact that you are also capable of protecting others." Zane continued, ignoring (Y/N) rolling her eyes at the comment. She was growing bored with these incessant conversations going around in circles.
"And I am afraid you are in check." (Y/N) pointed out and Zane quickly took (Y/N)'s bishop and intercepted an offending rook.
"Am I? Check!" Zane said confidently. The part human-part monster stared at him and then moved her knight. "Uncheck." (Y/N) stated. Zane moved his bishop. "Check." Zane said again. (Y/N) pushed her queen. "Check you." (Y/N) proudly said. The Nindroid lifted his king. "Uncheck." Zane responded. (Y/N) placed her pawn. "Check." She said with a confident smirk. Zane leaned back in his chair and surveyed the chess game as though trying to figure out if (Y/N) was somehow cheating.
Kai came running in screaming. "Guys! The others are in trouble! They've gotten stuck in some kind of death traps!" Zane's head snapped around as soon as Kai's words reached him.
"Checkmate." (Y/N) declared with a knowing smirk. Pythor was also grinning. Zane summarised that Pythor must have set this up somehow to force Zane into giving up the chess match in order to save his friends.
Pythor knew Zane never gave up and that (Y/N) was equally as stubborn and that this game would constantly end in a tie unless one of them conceded. Which neither was likely to do and there was only one thing that Zane would be forced to concede. To help others.
Before anyone could say anything Zane flicked his king onto its side, nodding in surrender. Although it was a concession of more than just the game. He considered that he wouldn't be able to change her mind right now so there was no point in continuing this seeing as the others needed his help.
"You can't go alone." Echo said as Zane went to enter further into the maze-like library. "There will surely be some sort of trap waiting for you, brother." Echo pleaded with Zane.
"I understand." Zane replied. "But my friends need my help."
"We have to get going." Kai demanded. "(Y/N) we can't let them go alone." Echo pleaded with her. Before (Y/N) could open her mouth to speak Pythor butted in.
"Absolutely not!" Pythor hissed meaninglessly at the two ninjas and Echo. "Let them suffer their fate!" Pythor ordered, turning his attention to (Y/N).
"No. (Y/N) we have to help." Echo declared also turning his attention to (Y/N).
(Y/N) seemed frozen as if she was unable to decide what order to follow.
"Damn that Echo, with his insatiable kind-hearted curiosity." Pythor snarled under his breath. But Zane heard him.
"(Y/N) I order you as one of the alliance members. That you leave them to their fates!" Pythor ordered again. "I-" (Y/N) began only to be cut off by Echo objecting. "No (Y/N). Do the right thing and help me save them." Echo pleaded with her. "I-" was all (Y/N) was able to get out before Pythor and Echo began to argue and order (Y/N) to follow their commands.
While Kai was protecting Echo from Pythors wrath. Zane noticed that (Y/N) was clawing at the left arm. "Argh!" (Y/N) snarled at her arm before ripping off her jacket revealing her birthmark was glowing a familiar sinister-looking green.
In fact, the Master of Ice was sure of it. It was the same green that glowed from the necklace that Morro had been using to control her.
(Y/N) continued to claw at it in desperation as if it was burning her. The more Echo and Pythor continued to argue the more (Y/N) clawed at her birthmark. (Y/N) hunched over from the pain.
Zane raced to her side in hopes of stopping her from hurting herself. "My nerves are on fire." (Y/N) howled as she continued to scratch and claw at her arm.
Zane tried to hold her arm when he noticed that one of her eyes had turned grey the other was still monster orange.
"I-it wo-on't st-op. Ha-ave to o-obey. H-Hela." (Y/N) struggled to get out. Zane could tell that she was desperately trying to tell him something but he could not allow her to continue to suffer and his friends needed him.
Pythor went to hit Kai but was frozen in ice before he got the chance. As soon as Pythor was frozen and the argument stopped the birthmark stopped glowing and hurting (Y/N) and her eyes returned to monster orange.
"I believe there is more going on than we realise." Zane said out loud as (Y/N) caught her breath.
"So that was Pythor's plan. To keep (Y/N)'s mind surrounded by the bad influences for those in the alliance that wanted revenge. But what was he missing?" Zane thought to himself.
Echo ran to her side. "(Y/N) please. We can't let my brother go in alone to save his friends. Please, help me." Echo pleaded with her. (Y/N) though winded nodded her head obediently.
Kai stared at Echo in amazement. He hadn't seen any even convince (Y/N) to help someone she didn't like since Lloyd was little.
As they neared the centre of where Kai heard the screams echo from. The stone walls rang with the sounds of metal striking metal and heavy flapping.
Nya and Jay were holding off the flying books while Cole and Lloyd were holding off the suits of armour. Macy was on the other side of the pit shielding Aaron and doing her best to repel any attack. Clay was still trapped down the pit, Axl was still holding back the bookshelves trying to crush him and Lance was still hypnotised by the crystal mirror.
Quickly racing towards the suits of armour Kai leapt through the air. Going for the one closest to his sister.
"You stay away from them!!" Kai yelled and swung his sword as hard as he could.
The sword cracked the suit of armour across the head and it crashed to the ground. The suit of armour looked up at Kai. Kai readied to strike the suit of armour again.
Kai brought his sword up to block a blow from a suit of armour's mace. The mace shattered against the sword and the suits of armour staired in what Kai assumed was stunned amazement.
(Y/N)'s arm shot out and grabbed the suits of armour, yanked it off the ground and threw it into a crowd of the suits of armour. The suits of armour crashed to the ground in a tangle of arms and legs. Before the suits of armour could recover Zane froze them.
Cole used the block of frozen suits of armour to jam the moving bookshelves from crushing Axl. Echo ran past a fogged up the crystal mirror with his steam releasing Lance from its spell. Ignoring the pain in his shoulders Axl grabbed Lance and chucked him over the pit, Lance used his Lance to pull Clay out of the spikey pit of death.
Zane froze over the pit with a solid sheet of ice (Y/N) grabbed Macy and Aaron while Echo grabbed Lance and Clay pulling them back over the pit just in time for Kai to melt the sheet of ice and for some suits of armour to fall in.
The suits of armour that didn't fall into the pit shot the arrows from the crossbow. Clay, Lance and Axl shielded the others with the knights' shields while Macy continued to protect Aaron.
They may have fought off the suits of armour for now but they still had the flying books to deal with.
Macy was struggling to carry Aaron and fight off the flying books. "Here." Cole said taking Aaron and holding him up. "I'll cover you both." Macy declared deflecting an oncoming book.
When the sound of more suits of armour echoed down a second corridor. "Not again." Jay complained.
"RUN!" The Book of Monsters screamed as the Book Keeper passed them. "RUN FOR IT!" Jestro yelped following after the pair. "They're in my hair! They're in my hair!" Lavaria squealed in fright and running with her arms over her head to protect her head.
Kai went to torch the books but (Y/N) stopped him. "If you set them alight this whole place will burn, with all of us in it." (Y/N) warned. "The Hydromancer and the Cryomancer are a safer option to repel them as we escape."
"Solid plan! Let's move!" Cole declared and they quickly headed for the only known exit in this place.
Nya and Zane were using their elemental powers to keep the books at bay while the knights used their shields to deflect any oncoming attacks.
As they made their way towards the door opening as everyone else ran through the doorway. (Y/N) ran did a spinning heel kick into the block of ice holding Pythor. Grabbed the Anacondrai by the throat and drags him out of the mirror door slamming it shut on the other side.
"Everyone accounted for." Zane said taking a headcount as everyone checked themselves over for wounds.
"Thank you. I thought we were going to die in here." Clay said holding out his hand for (Y/N) to shake.
"Thank, Echo." (Y/N) said bluntly before walking off. "Do not take it personally." Zane explained to blue nexo Knight. "I want as far from that nutty library as I can get." The Book of Monsters declared. Jestro and Lavaria followed quickly after him.
Once a still thawing out Pythor was out of the room Zane turned to the others. "There is more going on with these monsters and her then we realise."
"What do you mean?" Clay questioned the Master of Ice. "Things are not as they seem." Zane warned the nexo knights.

The Elm of the Dark Realm was pleased with what had happened in the maze-like library.
"How far did those peasants get?" The Elm of the Dark Realm requested. "About a quarter of the way." Replied one of Forest Monsters.
"Good, good." The Elm of the Dark Realm said, his voice echoed from the darkness.
"We do have a problem." One of Forest Monsters spoke up. "The weapon assisted in their escape."
"Remind Pythor of our deal." The Elm of the Dark Realm said in an annoyed tone. "We've waited too long for that self-proclaimed general to ruin this."
