(Third Person P.O.V)

__ Nexo Knights __

Kai looked around the dim underground space and recoiled in horror. His heart hammered in his chest as fear spread throughout, his body screamed at him to run away.

The room was heavily scented with a smell that was certain to induce instant nausea in the future for all who witnessed this place. Kai tried to move forward and found he was full-on shaking. This room was without a doubt specifically designed to induce fear, dread and despair to anyone but those possessing a strong mind and nerves of steel.

Cole was standing there stiff as a board. Cole looked like he was going to throw up. Seeing it on a computer screen in Borg's lab was one thing but seeing it in real life was a completely different experience altogether.

Lloyd was silently weeping, his hands trembling, his body shaking. He didn't want to face this. He couldn't face this. He wasn't strong enough.

Macy was just staring wide-eyed in abject terror at what this windowless room was used for. "Was... This... A torture room." Macy's voice getting higher each time she spoke. "Yeah, it was the one Hela enjoyed using to punish (Y/N)." Kai said comforting a sobbing Lloyd.

"How do you know that." Macy asked with a slight tone of fear in her voice. "We've seen some of her memories thanks to an invention of an ally of ours." Cole answered, doing his best to make sure he wasn't ill.

Kai's eyes were hardened coals, practically burning the room with their gaze. The Master of fire's eyes became fixed on the iron maiden; it was attached to a contraption that looked like it would have been used by some kind of guardsman, to lower the iron maiden into the large shaft beside it that was currently sealed shut at the moment.

Kai bit down on his lip to stop himself from crying out aloud. Kai had the horrible sensation that he knew what was on the other side of that closed trap-door. And just how deep it was. If Kai didn't let up on his lip pretty soon it was going to bleed.

"Someone needs to knock some sense into this girl." Macy declared. "She can't stay here! Why would she even want to stay here?!" Macy loudly complained to the ninjas.

"This is what we've been talking about." Cole stated. "She..." Cole paused before continuing to speak. "Noone would want to stay here. Not after all the things that she went through." Cole said the last part rather quietly.

"There has to be a reason. Something is keeping her here. Maybe they have something on her or she has amnesia or Nadakhan tricked her." Kai blurted out. "Who's Nadakhan?" Macy asked, interrupting Kai's rant.

"A really nasty Djinn who got us into this mess in the first place." Lloyd answered in distaste. "The thing is we don't know what is going on but we need to find it and put a stop to it." Lloyd said, wiping the tears from his eyes on the back of his sleeve.

Macy took a long hard look around the room. "I think I'm starting to understand what you've all been getting at now." Macy shuttered, her eyes lit with horrified understanding.

They heard the sounds of large footsteps coming down the stone steps and quickly hid against the wall where the large door would open.

Pecking through the gap in the door Lloyd could see a large, brown tree monster with scale-like bark spots on his arms, knees, chest and head. Wearing green wristbands, a three-strapped metal belt with a grass loincloth hanging from the centre and a metal pauldron on his left shoulder and carrying a spiked wooden club.

What the Green ninja didn't know was that this monster was in fact actually two monsters in one called Deadwood & Knot.

Deadwood was the muscle, but was easily confused and had to be directed constantly by Knot. Knot was the brains and very short-tempered due to having to constantly monitor Deadwood as well as having no body of his own and being forced to live as the small brown knot of wood in the centre of Deadwood's belt.

"So, I smash now, right?" The monster carrying the spiked wooden club asked. "No, you ignoramus! The Elm of the Dark Realm said to leave this place as is!" A snarky disembodied voice shot back. This confused the quartet hiding behind the door.

"But Deadwood not understand. Didn't fishies say to break this place?" Deadwood asked, scratching his head with his spiked wooden club.

"Yeah, yeah the Sea monsters said to do that in front of the Queen but the Elm of the Dark Realm has other ideas." Knot explained with a frustrated sigh.

"Other ideas?" Cole whispered to the others. "Other ideas?" Deadwood repeated in confusion having heard Cole's voice but not seeing anyone else in the room. Knot let out a frustrated shout thinking that Deadwood had said it on his own, not having heard the ghostly earth ninja whispering.

"Yes! Other ideas!" Knot snarled. The pair began to loudly bicker back and forth and the quartet took their chances and quietly snuck out of the room and escaped back out the stone steps before they were seen.

The quartet made their way back to everyone else who had gathered on the docks. Just as the Forgotten Revenge pulled into port.

"Admirals first." Marquis said, giving a hand to help (Y/N) down the gangway. (Y/N) nodded and took the offered hand. Only to be shoved out of the way by Jestro, the Book of Monsters and the Book Keeper whom all looked as though they were about to vomit.

The Sea Monsters groaned and assessed any damage to the hull. Thankfully the Forgotten Revenge was fine.

Nya, Jay and Zane slowly made their way down the gangway. Being greeted by those waiting for them to dock.

"So, what happened?" Kai asked them. Jay sighed and removed his hood to squeeze the water from it. But he was too exhausted to be angry and too relieved to still be alive to feel disappointment.

Zane decided to answer. "One of the Sea Monsters whom I believe is called Behemoth of Brine acted as the stage. Nya accidentally stabbed him and-" "Things got totally messed up, the ship almost sank, there were tidal waves I got all on video if you wanna see!" Aaron shouted interrupting Zane.

Nya looked rather embarrassed. "Maybe I shouldn't have gone first." The Master of Water admitted. "Or maybe you should have chosen the ocean as the place to battle against someone raised by sea monsters." Cole said. Nya gave the Master of Earth a dirty look.

"Guys! That's it!" Kai said aloud. "What's it?" Nya questioned her brother. "I've got an idea! I'm going next!" Kai proudly declared. "Hey, you jester guy!" Kai yelled at Jestro.

Jestro, the Book of Monster and the Book Keeper were hurling their guts out over the railing. "What?" Jestro replied back weakly. "You were bragging about something called Lava Lands earlier in this competition, right. Well, I want to challenge (Y/N) to a fight there!" Kai loudly stated. "Yeah sure. I wanna get as far from water as I can get right now." Jestro whinnied in agreement before returning to being sick.

Word was quickly spread throughout the factions about the fire ninja's decision to declare his challenge in the Lava Lands.

The Sea monsters and the Forest monsters were staying behind this time and with only limited space on Nidhogg. Pythor would be going with her as the alliance's supervising representative.

In fact, Pythor insisted on it. Saying it would be best for everyone. The monsters dismiss Pythors behaviour as wanting to get this over and done with as quickly as possible. The same as they did and allowed it.

The Nexo Knights would be giving the Ninjas a lift in the Fortrex. While the Lava Army left in Jestro's personal vehicle, the Evil Mobile.

Macy was busy telling the other Nexo Knights what she'd witnessed while the ninja of fire plotted out his challenge.

"So what do you know about the Lava Lands?" Kai asked Ava. Ava typed away on her keyboard to show the ninjas the files she had on the Lava Lands.

"There are numerous lava lakes, an active volcano and the only building in the lands is the Volcano Lair its the former castle of Monstrox the Necromancer, it currently serves as the base of operations for Jestro, the Book of Monsters and the Lava Monster Army. It has numerous traps and enchantments as well as a large treasure room that holds a solid gold statue of Jestro posing." Ava summed up for the fire ninja.

"Ok, I can use this." Kai said. "Want to fill the rest of us in Kai?" Cole asked. "I'm going to try and trigger her memories." Kai said confidently. "How?" Nya questioned him. "The active volcano." Kai pointed out. "It will be just like the Fire Temple."

"It's worth a shot." Jay admitted though he doubted that Kai's plan would succeed. "I hope you know what you're doing." Lloyd says. "Relax Lloyd. I have a plan." Kai said slapping Lloyd on the shoulder.

Merlok 2.0 was watching live footage of Nidhogg and Jestro's evil mobile. Stroking his digital beard as he did. "Necromancy lose on the realm again. Nexo Knights we can not allow this (Y/N) and Jestro to join forces." Merlok 2.0 promptly declared.

"Why are you guys so worried about that? You know besides the monster army thing." Jay politely asked as Ava brought the live feed showing the giant undead dragon flying overhead back up onto the main screen.

"Throughout time, there are those whose lust for power leads them to explore the secrets of death itself, corrupting the natural process of creation and destruction in order to control the unliving." Merlok 2.0 continued to explain. "They show none of the respect due to the dead, disturbing the eternal rest of the dead to create an army of skeletons, zombies, ghosts, undead animals and all manner of undead monsters for their own evil and twisted purposes. The undead are an abomination."

Cole threw the digital wizard a dirty look and stormed out. "Wait! Cole!" Lloyd shouted going after him. The other ninja gave Merlok 2.0 a dirty look before going after the Master of Earth.

"Nice going magic man." Ava scoffed and shook her head before turning back to her coding. "I didn't mean- I was talking about the dragon. Oh, bother." Merlok 2.0 scolded himself out loud.

The Master of Earth made it onto the roof of the Fortex and found a quiet place to turn invisible.

"Cole!" Jay called out as he stepped out onto the roof. "Cole?" Jay called out again. "Cole, don't listen to that old geezer. He's full of it." Jay insisted. Cole let oy a sad sigh and allowed himself to be seen again. "Here." Cole said sadly.

Jay could see how sad his friend had become. "Oh, Cole." Jay said standing next to his friend and went to place a hand on Cole's shoulder but his hand went right through him.

They both stood there in silence before Cole spoke up. "Jay... Do you think there may be a way for me to return to being human again?" Cole asked but refused to make eye contact with the Master of Lightning.

"I don't know..." Jay answered honestly. "But if there is. We'll find it. Together." Jay promised Cole. Cole sadly nodded but didn't look up.

Nidhogg happily stretched his massive wings. Enjoying the flight towards the Lava Lands.

Pythor looking down at the Fortrex with a visibly darkening expression.

"Time to wrap this up, (Y/N). They've had their chance. Don't be soft." Pythor loudly hissed over the wind.

"Are you telling me? Or yourself?" (Y/N) responded sarcastically to Pythor's demand, her body was already beginning to itch for the fight. Evident by (Y/N) scratching at her right arm.

"Getting nervous?" Pythor teased her. "They wish." (Y/N) loudly snorted. Even Nidhogg huffed in response. The Fortrex and Evil Mobile came to a stop. Nidhogg let out a small roar as he came in for a landing flying over the Fortrex and Evil Mobile.

Jestro quickly ran over to Nidhogg in order to help (Y/N) down from Nidhogg. (Y/N) humoured the evil jester and allowed him to help her down. The Book of Monsters rolled his eyes and let out a heavy sigh at Jestro's antics.

Jestro and the Book of Monsters lead them through the small tunnel it curved and only seemed to get longer but there persistent was duly rewarded when the tunnel got brighter and opened out into a large circular cavern filled with stalactites hanging from the ceiling and stalagmites sparsely decorating the flowing lava pit.

Around the edges of the room, there were several places where the rock floor had crumbled away leaving nothing but a pit of boiling lava underneath. Ash Attachers, Crust Smashers, Globlins, Bloblins, Spider Globlins and Scurriers. All taking up the remaining viewing platforms.

The air seemed to thrum with energy. They couldn't hear much except the dull sounds of the drums being played somewhere among the crowds.

"Yikes!" Lloyd said. "That's a lot of lava monsters." Cole said. "What do you expect? This is their home turf." The Book of Monsters said sarcastically.

"Of course a place like this would be a challenge." (Y/N) said sarcastically. Her glowing eyes reflected back at her in the puddles of lava. They were obviously trying to unnerve her by using a place similar to the place she'd had her showdown with Hela.

"Ok listen up!" Jestro yelled to the monsters. "All right, red guy. What's the challenge?" Jestro demanded, rolling his hand at Kai in a get-on-with-it expression.

"The name is Kai." Kai hissed at the jester. "And the challenge is simple. First to retrieve the item and return with it back to their starting point wins." Kai proudly explained his brilliant idea.

"And the item will be?" The Book of Monsters said sarcastically. "A blade." Kai answered confidently.

Moltor was charged with placing a small obsidian blade on a stone pedestal in the middle of the flowing lava pit. As the combatants took to their starting platforms.

As (Y/N) got up and stood on the top of the floating platform attached to the wall with a giant chain. Pythor grinned and waved at her from the main viewing platform.

"ON THE COUNT OF THREE." Jestro yelled, Kai pulled out his katana and (Y/N) pulled out her sword. "ONE... TWO... THREE!"

(Y/N) took a running jump to the next floating platform then the next. Kai used spinjitzu, giving him an early lead. Even if (Y/N) was powerful, she hadn't been trained in spinjitzu.

Kai leaps over the rock platform and kicks (Y/N) in the chest, knocking her over. (Y/N) growls and chases after him. Kai didn't want to hurt (Y/N) but damn did it feel good to finally release all the internalised anger and frustration he had over her.

(Y/N) swings forward Kai attempts and fails to block (Y/N)'s punch. (Y/N) turns around and rushes toward Kai again but Kai knocks her backward.

Kai blocks her attack, but (Y/N) quickly dashes up behind him and lands a devastating kick into Kai's face, the sheer force of the attack sends Kai skidding across one of the floating platforms.

Kai helped himself up, looking annoyed. Kai turns to look back at (Y/N), and his eyes widen upon seeing her preparing to swing her sword down at him. Kai quickly moves out of the way, (Y/N) continues to swing her sword and Kai continues to deflect the strikes with his katana.

"Had enough yet (Y/N)?" Kai said teasingly. "Bite me, you deranged pyromancer!" (Y/N) hissed back at Kai. Kai's eyes shone brightly. There always was a fire in (Y/N) that the Master of Fire couldn't help but be drawn to, like a moth to the flame.

Kai spins into (Y/N) and slamming into her torso and knocking (Y/N) through the air. Sending her flying straight up into the air when she falls back down to earth she is caught by Kai and slammed into a floating platform, cracking it and he proceeded to hold her there.

"Alright (Y/N) you and I are going to have a talk." Kai declared and pins (Y/N)'s arms above her head.

"Do you remember?" Kai asked. "It was a lot like this." "Hu?" (Y/N) responded. "Do you remember any of it? The Fire Temple, the blistering lava, saving Lloyd!" Kai pointed at the green ninja standing on the view platform with the other ninja.

"You risked your life, you were willing to stay behind and be cooked alive in an active volcano to save him." Kai's eyes stared into hers, looking for any sign of recognition within them.

"Previous to this one the only recent battle I remember that involved lava was the one where I killed Hela!" (Y/N) spat at the Master of Fire.

"I fought her with all the power at my disposal until I was drained and we ended at the bottom of that volcano. I pulled a shard of her sword out of my left arm and stabbed her in that rotting organ she called a heart and threw her corpse into the lava." (Y/N) proudly gloated. "I killed the most powerful wielder of magic in this realm!"

"And for what?!" Kai angrily shot back. "For people who don't care about you!? People who couldn't even bother to give you a name! People who make you fight for them but have never fought for you!"

(Y/N) stayed silent.

"You claim to have so much power. Yet you hide here in a place that does not care for or respect you." Kai shouted into her face.

"I may have power but my power has a purpose. I have a duty to fulfil and you would do well to stay out of my way." (Y/N) said, lowly.

"Merlok, the wizards' council and those who supported them will meet their end. The Nexo Knights will fall, and you... You will face your worst enemy. And I will watch from the sidelines and laugh as those who have wronged us finally get what they deserve." Her voice was low and powerful, and it sent shivers down his spine.

(Y/N)'s eyes were cold and empty as she stared Kai down. That was the only warning Kai got before a slash of magic slammed into him.

(Y/N), now free from Kai's grip, the two fight their way around the floating rock platforms.

(Y/N) readies her sword, then rushes forward. Kai leaps from the rock platform he was standing on, landing on another. (Y/N) moves in front of him and swings the sword down at him. Kai makes his way across the floating platforms and takes a moment to catch his breath.

Kai uses his power and sends fireballs through the air. The fireballs converge and slam into (Y/N), knocking her to the ground. (Y/N) quickly gets to her feet and begins sprinting in Kai's direction.

"Give me your best shot, the stronger I stand,

Not looking for sympathy,

What doesn't kill me makes me who I am,

A weapon fights until she's released,

You ain't ready for me,"

Kai shoots streams of fire at (Y/N) who continues to jump around the floating platforms.

(Y/N) continues to close the gap, her song increasing her speed just enough to give Kai a hard time at keeping up with (Y/N) as her sword giving of the same sickening dark glow as the trident she'd used in battle with Nya.

Kai swings his katana at her, but (Y/N) ducks down and slides under it, Kai looks down at (Y/N) in surprise. She then punches Kai in the back of the head with a confident smile.

"Stand up, stand up,

(Y/N) dodges as Kai flips through the air toward her. (Y/N) backs away while Kai attempts to kick her.

"Give me your best shot, the stronger I stand,

Kai stops and pants and (Y/N) readies her sword now full charged sword. Kai makes a mad dash toward (Y/N) with his sword.

"You ain't ready, (No)

The clash of the blades sends Kai into the air. (Y/N) launches herself up toward Kai. she grabs his legs and slams the Master of Fire into the ground. The impact sends a web of cracks through the rock platform.

(Y/N) watch as Kai stands up, panting with his eyes heavily dilated, his eyes roll into the back of his head. Soon afterwards, (Y/N) drops an unconscious Kai onto the floor. Pythor cheered victoriously from the top of the viewing platform.

"Two down four to go." (Y/N) said, her tone flat and unemotional as she claimed the obsidian blade and made her way back to her starting point.
