__ Nexo Knights __

The Nexo Knights and Sensei Wu stood there watching as the Ninjas glared at the mercenary sitting across from them with the smuggest grin plastered across his face. He was going to be rich. He had the info on what the Ninja's most wanted: (Y/N).

"Seriously! She's your friend too!" Cole objected to Ronin's outrageous demands. "You should want to help her too." Zane added, hoping to get Ronin to see reason.

Ronin just smirked at the Ninjas. "Correction. I'm one of 'two' humans that are her friends." Ronin strongly emphasised as he pulled Dareth closer to himself. Dareth just sat there doing his best not to ruin this for Ronin.

"Or did you forget all the betrayals you seven did?" Ronin teased and the Ninjas flinched at hearing that.

The Nexo Knights noticed that the Ninjas and their teacher flinched when this was said. "Betrayal?" Aaron whispered to Macy who just shrugged and told him to shush.

"Wait!? How are you one of two? She has more human friends than just you and Dareth. No offence Dareth." Nya stated turning her attention quickly to Dareth before returning to the argument.

"None taken." The Zoojitzu Master responded rather coldly. Suddenly Dareth found that he was ok with what his money incline friend was doing.

"Yeah, what about my parents and Cyrus Borg?" Jay angrily declared. Ronin stretched. Folding his arms behind his head as he looked at the Master of Lightning.

"Ok, I'll give you your folks but I'm pretty sure you lot got Borg to betray her. So I'm pretty sure he has his comeuppance on the way." Ronin said rolling his hand in the air as a matter of semantics. Dareth flinched a little at hearing that.

"Poor Borg. He was a good man. Definitely didn't deserve what may be coming his way." Dearth thought to himself.

"You're a real piece of work Ronin." Kai hissed at the mercenary. Ronin basically laughed in the Fire Ninja's face. "No Kai." Ronin responded with a smug grin. He ignored the raised brow of the hot-headed brunet. Kai was grating on the best of days.

"This is your team's mess. Do you want me to list all of your team's crimes?" Ronin scoffed at the Master of Fire. The Ninjas exchange a brief look, while Sensei Wu clears his throat. "Thought so." Ronin jeered his smug grin broadening.

"Crimes?" Clay asked out loud. "Yep, they weren't exactly nice to her. It's what drove her back here after defeating Hela a second time. Saved our whole realm and they still kept it up." Ronin informed the uptight Nexo Knight.

"She saved your realm?" Macy questioned in disbelief. As the others, all leaned closer.

"Yep, she's fought off armies of some realms worth of weird stuff." The mercenary gloated. "A magic Pseudo-snake cult, an army of ghosts, armies of insane evil robots." Ronin began to list off events of (Y/N) heroism with Dearth nodding along with what he was saying.

"And even when the fighting was over she didn't stop there. Setting out to house those who had lost their homes, return ancestral cultural relics to their people, using her talents in music to raise money to support them so they didn't have to turn to a life of crime just to survive." Ronin bragged to the Nexo Knights.

Dareth could see a light shine in the Nexo Knights eyes at hearing this.

"I have footage if you want to see." Dareth added and pulled out his phone. "Some other time." Clay politely refused wanting to focus on the problem before them. "I'll take a peak." Aaron offered. Only to receive a glare from Clay. "What?" Aaron objected.

"It's a shame really, no matter how much good she did they just seemed bent on hurting her for kicks." Ronin continued while not so subtly throwing the Ninjas and their Sensei a dirty look. Instantly, Nya went stiff.

"That is not true!" Lloyd loudly objected to Ronin's claims. He never hurt (Y/N) for fun. Zane did his best to calm Lloyd as the pint-sized green ninja's lip quivered involuntarily.

Rolling his head back Ronin let out a loud snort. Which caused tears to finally leak from Lloyd's eyes as the boys suppressed emotions roared to the surface.

"Whether it was out of jealousy, spite or they were just plain old users, couldn't say." Ronin said with a shrug as he looked at each of the Ninjas in turn.

Despite showing it in different ways, every single one was showing a single shared emotion: guilt.

"One of them even tried to kill and frame her." Ronin said quickly side-eyeing Nya. The fear and shame on Nya's face was priceless.

"Go on. Guess which one it was. We can make a little game out of it." Ronin said with a nasty grin to the Nexo Knights half hoping one of them would take him up on the offer.

"Alright, that's enough." Clay ordered and Ronin held up his hands to show he was backing off.

"Look, you all have some history but this is my realms present and our people at stake." Clay pointed out to everyone in his knightly voice. Ronin watched rather bemusedly as the ninja team's eyes seemed to grow very wide for a moment before shifting abruptly to the floor.

The room went silent before someone spoke up. "How are we going to get the money?" Lloyd asked the others. The Ninjas looked at the de-aged green ninja.

"It'll be ok Lloyd." Kai promised the Green Ninja. "Yeah. We'll just get some jobs and work for the money." Cole piped up. The other Ninjas grinned and nodded to what the Master of Earth had just said.

Jay ruffled Lloyd's golden locks. "Don't sweat it." Jay said with a wide grin. "You and Sensei Wu stay here. We'll be back."

"Well, let's get going." Nya stated as the ninja turned and went to exit the Fortex in search of work. "Work!?" Lance spluttered in horror. "Eww! A Richmond doesn't work." Lance declared turning his nose up at the very idea of having to work for something.

"Dennis!" Lance shouted at the top of his lungs. Dennis quickly arrived struggling to carry in seven bags of gold. The Ninja's mouths fell open then they turned to look at Lance.

"Please, I'm Lance Richmond. One of the richest Knights of this realm." Lance bragged to the Ninjas as Dennis heaved the bags of gold onto the table in front of Ronin.

"Well... That was unexpected... I was kind of hoping you'd have to run around doing odd jobs to get the cash... And you know suffer a bit. But I guess this works too." Ronin said greedily snatching up the bags of shiny gold coins.

"Alright, Ronin. Spill, tell us everything you know." Clay demanded slamming a fist down on the table. "She's a puppet Queen-" Ronin said as he started to count his newly acquired gold.

"We knew that already!" Cole angrily interrupted the greedy mercenary.

"Let me finish." Ronin huffed at the Master of Earth. "And every puppet has its strings and she obeys everything the master of those strings tells her what to do."

The Ninjas let out an irritated growl. But Ronin simply rolls his eyes at their antics and continues. "But someone who isn't a monster controls equal share in those strings." Ronin responded while shining a particular coin against his sleeve.

"Let me guess. Pythor." Lloyd hissed bitterly. "No, actually. Though he does have some legal guardian rights that he hashing out with the monsters right now. But that's beside the point." Ronin replied.

"Well, then who is it?" Zane politely asked. "That's what I would like to know too." Dareth stated as he watched Ronin bite into one of the coins to check to see if it was real.

"That's the easy part but how they're doing it and how they can use it to their advantage is the more pressing issue." Ronin teased the others.

"Ok, how are they doing it?" Kai said, taking the bait. Ronin mentally smirked at how easy it was to manipulate the Fire Ninja.

"I noticed it when she almost killed me by crushing my windpipe." Ronin said while rubbing his throat. Although it no longer hurt to talk the fear was still very real for him. "It's got something to do with the way they have her obedience."

"The problem about this obedience is that it's more than that; There is no doubt in my mind that if they told her to kill everybody in that room she's not supposed to hesitate to do their orders, not even question it." Ronin darkly explained. "It's as though the very idea of choosing not to do something they order her to doesn't exist."

"What do you mean does not exist?" Sensei Wu questioned while stroking his long white beard. "Exactly what I just said." Ronin replied rolling his eyes at the Spinjitzu Master.

"Her ability to choose for herself doesn't exist. This compulsion to do their bidding was just too great for her not to obey their combined wills." Ronin continued to report. Dareth nodded along in agreement.

"Which is what makes it all the more shocking when the Treble Makers and Queen Selma were shouting at her to let me go with no luck but when Echo told her to let me go and she did." Ronin remarked.

"My brother." Zane said out loud and Ronin nodded. "That's correct. At first, I thought it was because she gave him that book of hers to hold on to but that wasn't it." Ronin revealed to both teams of do-gooders.

"It may be the reason she gave him the book but that's beside the point too." Ronin stated trying to get the conversation back on track.

"(Y/N) was made to be a living weapon that's what Hela made her for, brick (Y/N) isn't even her name. She never had one. That's why she is going by (N/N). She's never had individuality; all of that has been erased but for some reason, Echo remains a constant because of that." Ronin rambled on.

"What are you trying to say?" Jay demanded. "You're not making any sense."

"Look, sparky. A weapon is wielded by a person and in Ninjago Echo became that wielder meaning he can tell (Y/N) what to do." Ronin barked at the Master of Lightning.

"But now her people are back and they can also tell her what to do and they have some pretty dark stuff they plan on making her do for them." Ronin warned both groups of wannabe do-gooders. While Ronin had a problem with the ninjas he felt it was only fair to warn the knights.

"We know." Cole gritted out Ronin simply rolled his eyes at the meathead. "I don't think you fully understand." Ronin admitted to the Ninja of Earth.

"I'm curious have you never noticed how Echo gets whatever he wants from her?" Ronin questioned them. Ronin looked at the plank look on all the ninja's faces and rolled his eyes before letting out a frustrated sigh.

"I always thought it was because the guy was a cinnamon roll." Dareth honestly admitted."True but no." Ronin explained with a slight chuckle. "Although personally, Zane should be really thankful about that." Ronin quickly added.

"Why should I be thankful that my brother is nice?" Zane questioned innocently.

"Because blots for brains. His will became her own. His wants and desires became her goal even if she doesn't realise it. Didn't your dad abandon him for you?" Ronin pointed out to the clueless Master of Ice.

Everyone tensed at the subject but Ronin continued on driving the point home for the Nindroid. "Imagine if Echo had wanted revenge. Do you really think (Y/N) wouldn't have helped him if he'd asked her to?" Ronin continued to explain.

The deafening silence that followed as it sank in for the ninjas just how dangerous this was for everyone was almost soul-crushing.

"That poor girl." Clay said quietly, breaking that silence.

"Merlok? Is there any way we can do to undo this?" Clay asked, turning to the wise old digital wizard.

Merlok 2.0 looked down sadly at Clay from his holographic platform. "Whatever magic Hela has used to control her. Is beyond even my understanding." Merlok 2.0 apologised to the blue Nexo Knight.

"Dude that sucks." Aaron said out loud. "Yeah." Axl agreed with a shudder. "Being forced to obey someone else will make you hurt others even if you didn't want to."

"Never being able to choose for yourself." Macy murmured feeling sorry for the girl. "Do you think she's even aware that she's being controlled like that?" Macy questioned out loud.

"Wow, she'd be the perfect servant." Lance bellowed out effortlessly. The Nexo Knights turned and gave the spoilt white knight a combined dirty look. "What!?" Lance snapped at them. "It's true." He pleaded.

"He's not wrong." Ronin admitted. Everyone turned to give the mercenary a dirty look now "What? The situation still sucks but he's not wrong. (Y/N) would say it too. So don't get mad." Ronin huffed at them.

"Yeah, honest no matter how unpleasant." Kai grumbled in agreement.
