Pain can change people and make them fall in to the abyss

Suzy stayed silent, looking at the clean white marbled floor but after sometime she sighed and nodded her almond eyes strained on the ground. It was unmistakable that she couldn't believe she was agreeing to this. I thanked her and wore the ugly clothes.

The wig covered my forhead completely that my eyebrow looked like part of my hair. Large white coat was wrapped around my slim body.

Where did she even get these?

I sighed and stared at my reflection on the mirror of the bathroom. I even looked worse than suzy. I cringed but this will have to do. It is not like I have a choice. Putting on the old fashioned glasses, I exited the bathroom.

" I look like a clown with glasses." I huffed.

Why couldn't she have just brought something disgusing yet not so degrading?

To say suzy laughed would be undersestimate because she almost cried form the laughter.

" But a cute clown." She said between laughs.

I crossed my arms and gave her a flat look while she pouted.

I took a few bucks for the cab. Giving me a thumps up, suzy climbed up on the bed,covering her face with the sheets.

I opened the door. The guards turned around to look at me. One of the guys titled their heads to look inside the room.

" I prefer if you left her alone today. She is in that time of the month if you know what I mean."I spoke trying to make my voice as high pitched as possible as I could,making suzy snort.

The young man's face tinted crimson before he gave me a curt nod and letting me pass by stepping aside. I sighed in relief and kept my head low, walking away from the door, but I did notice the weird look people were throwing my way.

so much for being unnoticed

At the exit, I collided with a hard chest and the stumbled back. Much to my dismay, my clownish wig flew away, exposing my locks. Not bothering to scold the crazy person who knocked me down, I picked up my wig to put it on but I froze as my name left person's mouth.

" Amelia, Why are you dressed like that?"

I looked up and Styles Walker or shall I say Matthew Rhodes was standing there in all his glory, frowning at me. I placed my fingers on his lips before he could shout as he widended his hazel eyes.

Oh crap

I mouthed. 'Please don't say anything' as slowly as I could. He nodded and gestured for me release him. I nodded and let go.

" Why are you dressed like that?" He repeated his question."And where are you going?"

" No reason, I am just going somewhere."

" Where?"He asked amused and I rolled my eyes.

" Out for some walk." I gritted my teeth.

" Then, I will come with you."

"No." I rejected, trying to pass as he quickly blocked my way.

" Why not?"

He will never let me go so I did what it had to be done.

" Security! This man is trying to assault me!Help please!"

His mouth fell open as he widened his eyes. When he was distracted with the angry men who came at him. I ran out as fast as I could before I saw him fall on the floor with his hands cuffed. I quickly entered a cab and rode off, guilt still dawning on me for what I did to him, but I am sure he will understand once I tell him my reasons.

I pushed my way through the busy police station, avoiding the eyes of the scary men who I am sure are criminals, giving their testimony to the grumpy officers infront of them.

The whole scene was hectic and I doubted if I would be able to find the officer who called me earlier today Mr Collins. I let my eyes travel through the busy scene, searching for the bald man in his 50s with chubby chin. I walked in further and pushed some men along the way who gave me murderious glares.

I finally saw him.His hands wrote something on paper as his bald scalp refelected the light of the bulb. There were piled files on his brown wooden desk but there was no one on the seat infront of him.

"Excuse me. Mr Collins?" My voice was barely heard with all the chattering people did inside the station.

He looked up and there was uneasiness registered on his face.
" Madam Amelia? You came? Please sit."He motioned his hands to the empty seat infront of him.

I nerviously smiled and sat before I spoke swiftly." You said lily's mother is here or has she left already?"

" She was here but she left because she had to take her medication. She left her address for you if you want to visit her." He handed me a piece of paper.

" Sure thanks."

He sighed," I don't think there is much you can do."

" Why do you say that?"

He released a heavy sigh." I am afraid this woman isn't mentally healthy."

" Well, she might still help."

After, I debated with myself, conisdering what the officer had told me. I finally decided. I should at least try before giving up. I unfolded the piece of paper as I watched the cab driver drive away from the abandonded street that had trash flying away everywhere. I gulped as I looked at the holey pavement and the faded paints of the apartment building.

She really does live here? Why didn't lily say anything if her mother was living in such state?

I pushed the questions at the back of my head and crossed the empty street, not even a single car was in sight. I walked to the entrance of the crumbling apartment building. I opened the dusty floor. The steep stairs were vacant and there was no elevator. I looked down at the wrinkled paper, laying on my shaking hands.

Come on. You can do this!

I nodded to myself. Walking up the stairs, I noticed the dirty floor full of garbage and the shattered lamps. I finally reached at the door. The golden number on the door of the apartment had began to fade and dust had covered it on top of that. I raised my hand and knocked the door. I immediately regretted ever knocking the door because I heard a loud bang that sent shivers down my spine.

The door was burst open before I could walk away. A familiar man emerged from behind the door. His green eyes fixated on my eyes as my breath hitched in termor.

"Now, where you going dear?" He smiled.
