ALEX WAS WALKING back from Allison's house, when she heard a loud smash coming from a nearby residence.
She stopped and frowned when she saw Isaac run out of his house frantically, picking up his bike and taking off, his father running right out after him, shouting his sons name.
Jackson was out the front of his house, taking out the trash when he frowned at the frantic men.
"Freaks." Jackson stated and noticed that Alex was there, about to run off after them.
"Alex? What the f—"
"Don't have time for your bullshit." Alex pushed Jackson aside as she took off into a sprint, following Isaac's scent.
It started to rain, but Alex didn't care. She just wanted to know if Isaac was okay.
Soon, she caught up to Isaac's fathers car, but then swiftly passed it on the footpath.
"Isaac?!" Alex yelled as she followed the boy's scent.
She went down an alleyway, Isaac's father following close by.
In the alleyway, she saw Isaac's deserted bike.
She ran down into the musty place, passing the bike.
"Alex?" Isaac's soft voice spoke quietly.
Alex walked further down, still following Isaac's prominent scent. It was...off. Not human...
"Isaac? It's me, it's Alex." The girl replied as she slowly kept following the scent.
She reached his location. He was curled up in a ball in the corner, back facing Alex as the rain poured.
"Isaac, are you okay?" Alex questioned.
"Don't come closer." Isaac's voice trembled.
"Isaac, it's okay." Alex replied reassuringly. "What happened?"
"I...my dad...he..." Isaac trembled, back still facing Alex.
"What did your dad do?" Alex continued quietly.
"He...he beats me." Isaac replied quietly.
This took Alex by surprise. That's what the smashing sound was from earlier.
"Isaac...you're safe now...he can't hurt you anymore. I'll make sure of it." Alex spoke as she went slowly closer.
"I don't know what's happening." Isaac whimpered.
Alex went closer.
"Please...don't..." Isaac's voice trembled.
"It's okay." Alex softly spoke as she slowly made her way closer.
"I said don't!" Isaac yelled.
Alex went closer. "I can help you."
"Please, Alex. Just don't." Isaac begged, but Alex went closer.
She eventually reached him and wrapped her arms around the fragile boy softly.
Isaac didn't shift away. He hugged her back softly.
"He's here." Alex spoke.
"He's...what?!" Isaac exclaimed and pulled away.
"Run." Alex whispered.
"Y—you have to go. You can't be here." Isaac whispered to Alex.
"I'll be fine. You have to leave." Alex replied.
"No. Just go, I'll be fine, I promise you." Isaac reassured and after a few seconds, Alex nodded.
Isaac's father rolled down the windows and called out his sons name from the front of the alleyway.
Alex sprinted out of the alleyway, ignoring the shouts from Isaac's father that were calling after her.
••••
"Derek!" Alex exclaimed as she ran into where Derek was located.
Derek's eyes were red until he came out of the shadows.
"Alex?" Derek frowned.
"Do you know anything about Isaac Lahey?" Alex questioned.
"Yeah, why? Do you know the kid?" Derek asked.
"Yeah, I do. How do you know him?" Alex frowned.
"He's uh. He's with me." Derek replied quietly, crossing his arms.
"You turned him?!" Alex exclaimed. "Why?!"
"Because—" Derek tried.
"Derek!" Isaac's voice yelled, followed shortly after by the rest of him.
He frowned. "Alex?"
"Isaac?"
"What...how do you know Derek?" Isaac questioned.
"Long story." Alex sighed. "I know you're a werewolf."
Isaac's eyes widened.
"Don't worry. I'm one too." Alex added and flashed her golden eyes.
Isaac nodded.
"Isaac. What were you going to say?" Derek questioned.
"My...my dad's dead." Isaac replied and Alex frowned.
"What did you do?" Derek asked.
"That's the problem...it wasn't me."
••••
"I'm serious. It's not like the last full moon." Scott spoke to Stiles and Alex, who were bored. "I don't feel the same."
"Oh, does that include the urge to maim and kill people like me?" Stiles asked.
"I'm kinda...off too. But enough about me, let's get to the riveting truth." Alex teased.
Stiles smirked and Scott rolled his eyes as they went into the locker room, Alex following for no reason.
Scott and Stiles didn't seem to notice, however the other boys did after a minute.
"Yeah, but this time, I don't have the urge to maim and kill you." Scott spoke.
"You know, you say that now, but when the full moon comes up, the fangs come out—" Stiles spoke quietly, but Alex cut him off.
"Canines. They're canines, actually. Fangs are for vampires, and we all know they don't exist."
Stiles rolled his eyes and carried on as the trio continued to walk in the boy's locker room.
A boy whistled as Alex walked past.
Alex flipped him off and then blew a fake kiss.
"—and then the claws, and then the growling and screaming and running everywhere and it's very stressful for me, so yes I'm still locking you up." Stiles continued and Alex snickered.
"Fine. But I do think I'm in more control now. Especially since things are good with Allison." Scott replied as the trio stopped at one of the boys lockers.
"Wow, Carter. Didn't think you were so desperate for dick." Jackson chuckled and Alex turned around to face him.
Stiles and Scott were about to say something, when Alex held up her hand.
"That's funny, actually. Dealing with your bullshit isn't on my to do list today." Alex chuckled sourly in regards to Jackson.
When Jackson was about to speak, Alex cut him off. "No sweetie, I'm not finished yet."
Stiles and Scott raised their eyebrows in enjoyment as they hid their smiles.
Jackson looked pissed off.
"I can see why you can't get a girlfriend anymore. Don't think they'll get any action with your tiny excuse for a dick." Alex fired back calmly, enjoying the sour expression on Jackson's once smug face.
Alex then turned to some other boys who had arrived around the girl and Jackson. "Contrary to popular belief, no, I am not oblivious to what's going on around me. I'm just a professional avoider of whining, bullshit, and fucking dickheads like Jackson, for example."
"Have a nice day boys." Alex smiled in conclusion as Stiles and Scott high-fived her, some other boys snickering and chuckling at her comments.
"See you guys later." Alex said to her best friends and left the locker room.
"Wow." Stiles breathed.
••••
"You really don't remember anything?" Allison asked Lydia.
Alex was walking in between Allison and Lydia, the three of them walking into school.
"Yeah, I'm not sure why Alex got released earlier then I did, though." Lydia replied with a frown.
"I don't know either." Alex lied.
"Me not remembering? They call it a fugue state." Lydia continued. "Which is basically a way of saying 'we have no idea why you can't remember why you were running in the woods naked for two days."
"But personally, I don't care." Lydia smiled as the girls reached the doors. "I lost nine pounds."
Allison and Alex chuckled.
"Only Lydia Martin." Alex added and Allison agreed.
"Are you ready for this?" Allison questioned.
"Yeah, are you sure you wanna go in?" Alex asked.
"Please. It's not like my aunts a serial killer." Lydia replied and walked in, Alex glancing at Allison briefly as the other two followed after the confident strawberry blonde.
When they walked in, everyone stopped and stared.
Lydia was uncomfortable.
"Well, this morning I walked into the boy's locker room." Alex whispered to Allison, who widened her eyes. "Can't be more embarrassing than that."
"Nothing happened." Alex reassured.
"Maybe it's the nine pounds." Allison whispered to Lydia, who fixed her hair and strutted through the crowd.
Alex followed right after, crossing her arms, while Allison also followed with a smile.
••••
"It was kinda like a scent, but I couldn't tell who it was." Scott spoke to Stiles as the boys were sat on the bench of lacrosse practise, Alex joining them right after.
"What happened?" Alex questioned.
"There's another werewolf on the team." Scott whispered.
"What? Who?" Alex frowned.
"That's what I don't know." Scott sighed.
Alex then thought of Isaac.
"Hey! You're not supposed to be here." The coach spoke to Alex, who turned to look at him.
"I was in the boys locker room earlier today and you didn't seem to notice." Alex challenged.
"Plus, I'm McCall and Stilinski's best friend." Alex added and the coach nodded.
"Eh, alright, I guess, whatever. But don't tell anyone I let you stay." Coach waved his finger at the girl.
"My lips are sealed Coach." Alex smiled and turned back to Scott and Stiles.
"What if you can get him one on one? Would that help?" Stiles asked Scott.
"Yeah." Scott nodded.
"Okay. I think I got an idea." Stiles replied and stood up.
"You already know it's gonna be shit." Alex scoffed and Scott nodded.
Stiles came back a minute later with Danny's goalie gear.
"Ooo maybe not a shit idea for once." Alex scoffed.
"I told Coach you're switching with Danny for the day." Stiles spoke.
"But I hate playing goal." Scott stated.
"Does it look like he cares?" Alex replied.
"Remember when I told you I had an idea? This is the idea." Stiles added.
"Ohhhh." Scott realised.
"There we go." Stiles smirked.
"What's the idea?" Scott questioned and Alex rolled her eyes.
"I seriously don't understand how you can survive without us sometimes." Stiles sighed.
"You equals bump into them until you get the person. There?" Alex made it simpler.
"That's one way to put it." Stiles exasperatedly sighed.
The boys went on before Alex could tell them it was Isaac that was the werewolf.
Alex cringed as Scott bumped into one of the players.
Scott kept bumping into players forcefully as he kept getting in trouble.
"Stilinski. What the hell is wrong with your friend?" Coach asked Stiles as he grabbed his helmet.
"Uh, he's failing two classes, a little socially awkward, and if you look hard enough, his jawline is uneven." Stiles responded.
Coach squinted and let go of Stiles's helmet.
"Interesting." The coach concluded.
Alex cringed.
"Scott. It's Isaac." Alex whispered but Scott didn't seem to hear as he walked back to the goal.
Alex could see that Isaac was up next. He was heavily breathing and a little slouched.
Stiles seemed to have picked up on it, because he caught eyes with Alex, who nodded.
Stiles's eyes widened.
Scott ran into Isaac as they both landed in the same stance.
Isaac's now golden glowing werewolf eyes trailed up to meet Scott's.
Tried to tell him. Alex thought to herself.
Alex whipped her head to the three policemen that were approaching, Stiles's dad being one of them.
"Don't tell them." Isaac spoke quietly to Scott, but knew that Alex could hear. "Please don't tell them."
••••
Alex caught up with Stiles and Scott, who were looking at Isaac with the policemen and Coach.
"His dad died." Alex started. "They think he got murdered."
"Are they saying that he's a suspect?" Stiles asked the girl as he looked at her. Alex was still looking at Isaac, who was being taken by Sheriff Stilinski.
"Not sure. Why?" Alex replied.
"Cause they can put him in a holding cell for twenty four hours." Stiles spoke in response.
"Like, overnight?" Scott added in.
"During the full moon." Stiles and Alex spoke at the same time.
"How good are these cells for holding people?" Scott asked.
"People, good. Werewolves, probably not that good." Stiles replied quietly.
"Remember when I said I didn't have the urge to maim and kill?" Scott spoke.
"I don't either. Haven't for awhile now." Alex added in as the group looked at Isaac being escorted away.
"He does though."
••••
"Why would Derek choose Isaac?" Scott asked Alex and Stiles as they were sat on the same desk.
"Peter told me that if the bite doesn't turn you, it'll kill you." Stiles replied quietly. "Maybe teenagers have a better chance of surviving."
"Does being a teenager mean that your dad can't hold him?" Scott questioned.
"Well, not unless they have solid evidence." Stiles replied. "Or a witness—wait."
Stiles turned to Danny.
"Danny. Where's Jackson?" Stiles questioned.
"In the principals office, talking to your dad." Danny replied.
"What? Why?!" Stiles whisper shouted.
"Maybe because he lives across the street from Isaac." Danny replied.
"Witness." Scott spoke.
"We gotta get to the principals office." Stiles spoke.
"Wait. Guys, I was a witness too." Alex whispered.
"What?!" Stiles and Scott exclaimed in a hushed whisper.
"Why didn't you tell us this earlier?!" Stiles added quietly.
Alex shrugged.
"Go to the principals office now!" Stiles continued.
"Okay, okay." Alex rolled her eyes. "Meet you two leeches there, huh?"
Scott and Stiles rolled their eyes, but nodded as Alex went over to the teacher.
"Mr Harris." Alex spoke quietly.
Mr Harris turned around and frowned. "What do you want?"
"May I go to the principals office?" Alex questioned.
"Why?" Harris asked, confused as to why a student would want to leave.
Alex turned to Stiles and Scott, who gave her a thumbs up.
"Would this help?" Alex questioned as she picked up Mr Harris's laptop.
"Wait wait wait." Mr Harris opposed before Alex could do anything. "Just go."
Alex put down the laptop and smiled. "Thank you."
She headed towards the office, and walked in.
Jackson frowned as he waited on one of the chairs.
"Uh, Miss Carter, I'm a little busy at the moment—" Stiles's dad frowned.
"I'm a witness to Isaac's dad being murdered." Alex spoke to the Sheriff, who widened his eyes.
"Sit, Alex." Sheriff spoke as Alex sat down.
"Tell me what happened." Sheriff Stilinski started and got out his notepad.
Alex told him everything that happened, leaving out the supernatural parts, of course.
"Thank you, Alex." Sheriff nodded as Alex walked out to find Stiles and Scott sitting on the chairs outside the office.
Jackson went in.
The Sheriff came out as Stiles hurriedly took a magazine and held it to his face.
Scott and Alex just looked at Sheriff Stilinski.
"Hi Scott and Alex." The Sheriff spoke and Alex nodded to him, as Scott waved slightly.
Sheriff Stilinski and Jackson walked away as the principal came out.
"Boys, and girl." The principal, who turned out to be Gerard Argent, spoke.
Alex frowned as Scott and Stiles widened their eyes.
"Come on in."
••••
"Scott McCall." Gerard started. "Academically not the most accomplished, but I see you have become quite the star athlete."
Alex looked at Scott from her chair, which was in the middle of Stiles and Scott's chairs.
"Miss Carter. Very intelligent, I see." Gerard nodded as he glanced at Alex. "Perfect grades, but I see here you have a little attitude."
"Sarcasm, actually." Alex interrupted. "A lot of sarcasm."
Gerard chuckled lightly. "Right. I apologise."
"Mr Stilinski." He moved on. "Perfect grades as well, but little to no extracurriculars."
"Maybe you should try lacrosse." Gerard spoke.
"Well, actually, I'm already—" Stiles tried.
"Hold on." Gerard cut him off, and Alex held back her taunting smile.
"McCall." Gerard turned his attention to Scott. "You were the Scott that was dating my granddaughter."
This got awkward real fast.
Alex and Stiles glanced at each other briefly.
"We were dating. Not anymore. Not seeing each other or doing anything with each other." Scott cringed at his own words. "At all."
"That was fabulous." Alex scoffed quietly.
"Relax, Scott, you look like you're about to crack a cyanide pill with your teeth." Gerard smiled and Alex frowned.
"It was just a hard breakup." Scott spoke quietly.
"Oh, that's too bad, you seem like a nice kid to me." Gerard replied. "Now listen people, yes I'm the principal, but I really don't want you to think of me as the enemy."
At this, Alex frowned. Would he be saying that just for school reasons...or something else.
Naturally, Alex is a very suspicious person, and she picks up on things easily. At the cemetery, she was suspicious of him, and even now, she is. She decided that something was going on, so she would keep her guard up, like she usually does.
"Is that so?" Stiles scoffed and glanced at Alex and Scott.
"However, this is still my first day, and I do need to support my teachers, so unfortunately, someone is going to have to take the fall and stay behind for detention." Gerard added.
Gerard, Alex, and Scott looked at Stiles.
Stiles frowned at them.
••••
"Don't expect me to come running out to you every time you scream, okay?" Jackson spoke to Lydia. Alex crossed her arms as she was down the hall.
"I never said—" Lydia tried.
"I'm not responsible for you." Jackson interrupted.
"But I will give you one piece of advice. If I were you, I'd stay home tonight." Jackson concluded and walked off.
"What does that mean?" Lydia questioned and Jackson stopped. "What's tonight?"
"It's a full moon." Jackson smirked as he walked away.
Alex stopped him, by putting a hand to his chest.
"Jackson." Alex spoke and Jackson frowned.
"What do you want?" Jackson scoffed as Alex took her hand off.
"Like Lydia, I just wanted to...." Alex started.
Jackson raised his eyebrows, waiting for an answer.
"I wanted to say thank you for bringing me to safety." Alex finally spoke.
"Wow. Alex Carter saying thank you to me? Never thought I'd see the day." Jackson replied. "Now move."
As Jackson tried to leave, Alex stopped him again.
"Where's the 'you're welcome,' hmm?" Alex frowned. "Did your parents never teach you manners, growing up?"
Jackson rolled his eyes. "Fine. You're welcome."
"Maybe you should swallow your pride once in awhile." Alex concludes and walked away.
Jackson scoffed and walked to his next class.
Alex ran down the hallway, Scott catching up to her, as they opened the school doors to find Isaac in a police car.
Isaac glanced at the two.
It was too late. The car had started.
Scott and Alex frowned.
"Well, we screwed that up." Alex sighed as she took a start in walking back into school.
However, she stopped when a different car pulled up, Derek in the front seat.
"Get in." Derek spoke.
Alex stopped near the doors.
"Nah. Think I'll pass." Alex scoffed. "Maybe next time, though."
Alex walked into school again.
"Are you serious? You did that. That was your fault." Scott started.
••••
"Okay. I'm here. What's so important—" Alex started as she approached Derek and Scott, who were looking at a huge container with scratch marks on the roof of it.
"What the hell?" Alex breathed as Derek glanced at her.
So this is how bad the abuse was. Alex thought. Poor Isaac.
"This is why he said yes to you." Scott spoke angrily to Derek.
"Everybody wants power." Derek replied as Alex glanced at him.
After a moment, Scott sighed. "If we help you, you have to stop."
"You can't just go around turning people into werewolves." Scott added angrily.
"I can if they're willing." Derek spoke back.
It sounds like preschool drama. Alex thought.
"Did you tell Isaac about the Argents?" Alex asked Derek. "About being hunted?"
"Yes, and he still asked." Derek replied calmly.
"Then he's the idiot." Scott exclaimed and Alex frowned at him.
"You're the idiot dating Argents daughter." Derek replied back. "Yeah. I know your little secret. And if I know, how long do you think it's gonna take for them to find out?"
"You saw what happens to an omega." Derek continued. "With me, you learn how to use all of your senses."
"I didn't join you, but you did help me." Alex added in.
"Alex, I'm trying to make a point here." Derek quietly replied.
"He can hear you, by the way." Alex replied, talking about Scott, who was listening the whole time.
Derek turned back to Scott. "With me you learn control."
Derek lifted Scott's hand up. His claws started to come out. "Even on a full moon."
Scott snatched his hand back. "If I'm with you, I lose her."
"You're gonna lose her anyway." Derek replied. "You know that."
Derek shut the container door, as he started to walk away.
Alex nodded to Scott. "We should go."
"Wait." Scott frowned as Derek stopped and turned around. "I'm not apart of your pack."
"But I want him out." Scott looked at the storage box again. "He's my responsibility too."
Alex and Derek shared glances.
"Why?" Derek frowned. "Because he's one of us?"
Scott looked at Derek. "Because he's innocent."
••••
"Yeah, I just picked up Alex. She's coming with me." Stiles spoke over the phone to Allison, Alex nodding from the passenger seat.
"Anyway, regarding the plan, unfortunately we don't have time for anything better." Stiles concludes and hung up as him and Alex looked at the full moon.
"Isaac's not in control, I can already tell." Alex sighed.
"We'll make it." Stiles reassured.
"If you say so." Alex replied and looked out the window.
"You alright?" Stiles glanced at Alex.
"Yeah, I should be fine." Alex sighed. "Why?"
"Just making sure you're okay." Stiles smiled.
Alex smiled back as Stiles kept driving to the station.
••••
Along the way, the two picked up Derek.
They arrived at the Sheriff station.
"Okay. The keys to the cells are in a password protected lockbox in my fathers office." Stiles started to Derek, who was in the passenger seat. Alex went into the back seat before they picked up Derek. "The problem is getting past the front desk."
Alex leaned over to talk to the boys.
"Should be no problem for Mr Hotstuff over here." Alex joked with a smile as she lightly punched Derek on the shoulder.
Derek glared at her as he tried to get out of the Jeep, but Stiles stopped him.
"Woah woah woah. You?" Stiles frowned as Derek looked from Stiles's hand on his arm, and then at Stiles. "I'm taking my hand off."
Stiles released Derek's arm.
"I was exonerated." Derek spoke.
"You're still a person of interest." Stiles replied as Derek looked at Alex for help.
"He's right, dude." Alex shrugged.
"An innocent person." Derek defended himself.
"You?" Stiles chuckled. "Yeah, right."
"Okay, fine." Stiles gave up. "What's your plan?"
"To distract her." Derek replied like it was the most obvious thing in the world.
"Uh-huh. And how?" Alex asked sarcastically. "By punching her in the face?"
"By talking to her." Derek looked at Alex.
"Okay, alright, give us a sample." Stiles spoke and Derek turned his attention to the boy with the buzz cut. "What are you gonna open with?"
"Can we hurry this up please? Isaac's waiting, and he's not gonna get any less angry." Alex spoke and Stiles shushed her.
"One second, Lex." Stiles replied and Alex rolled her eyes.
Derek said nothing.
"Dead silence." Alex deadpanned. "That should work beautifully."
"Any other ideas?" Stiles asked.
"I'm thinking about punching you in the face." Derek replied.
"Don't leave me to clean him up though." Alex scoffed.
"I'm sorry, who called Jackson to come save you from the Alpha again?" Stiles asked Alex.
"Dickhead." Alex muttered.
"Can I punch him in the face?" Alex asked Derek.
After the group came up with a decent plan, Derek walked out of the Jeep, and went inside.
"I wanna see this plan crash and burn." Alex scoffed.
••••
Alex and Stiles carefully walked in, and hid behind the door, waiting for the plan to come into action.
Derek distracted the front desk lady as Alex used her super speed to get to the other side without making any noise.
Stiles, however, still had to carefully and quietly walk in.
He succeeded.
Alex gave Derek a thumbs up as she followed after Stiles.
They sneaked into Stiles's dad's office as Stiles unlocked the passcode thing, however, there was nothing in its place.
"What the fuck?!" Alex whisper shouted.
"Oh no." Stiles whispered.
Stiles and Alex walked out and stumbled across an officer with an arrow in his leg.
"Woah, uh sorry, just looking for..." Stiles started.
"Oh sh—"
The man took Stiles and held a needle to his neck, as he dragged him away.
Alex immediately followed, frowning at the man.
"Give him back." Alex threatened.
"If you try and take him, I'll inject this into his neck." The policeman replied as he held the needle to Stiles's neck.
Alex held up her hands as she slowly kept following after them.
As Stiles was being dragged away, he hit the fire alarm bell and the man dropped him, Alex automatically going by his side.
The door to Isaac's cell was completely open.
Isaac pushed the man onto a table, Alex standing up.
Stiles was still on the floor. He scrambled over to hide, while Alex went over to help Isaac.
The man and Isaac were fighting, the man throwing punches, and Isaac blocking them.
The man tried to punch Alex, however, she held his fist, cracking the mans knuckles as he yelled in pain.
Isaac growled as the man tried to inject him.
The man then tried to inject Alex, but she dodged it.
Alex was in human form the entire time.
Derek stepped on the needle, crushing the glass as Isaac and Alex looked at him.
Isaac set his sights on Stiles, growling at the boy.
Alex and Derek noticed this, and Alex ran over to Stiles, standing in front of him.
Derek growled loudly, his eyes glowing red, Isaac cowering away.
Even Alex was surprised.
Alex held out her hand to Stiles, who gladly accepted it as he stood up.
"You alright?" Alex asked, as Stiles nodded.
"How did you do that?" Stiles asked Derek.
"I'm the Alpha." Derek voiced as Alex went over to Isaac.
Alex widened her eyes at Derek, but then focused on Isaac.
"Hey, you're okay." Alex sighed as she crouched down next to Isaac.
Isaac looked at her.
"You're okay now." Alex softly spoke.
Isaac wrapped his arms around the girl, Alex hesitating. After a few seconds, she hugged him back.
"Let's get you somewhere safe." Alex spoke as Isaac nodded.
Stiles looked away.
