It was a Tuesday when Helena realized what had changed around the house. Bella had been going down to La Push to hang out with Jacob Black.

After the house incident, Bella had been on her way to becoming a hermit again, just a happier hermit. She was behaving like her normal self but she wasn't leaving the house unless it was for school or someone made her. Helena had tried to get her to go out, but nothing was working.

Luckily for her, a friendship had formed between Jacob and her sister. This might be exactly what she needed.

Helena had adjusted to life in Forks and she was so glad she had moved. She had a job, her sister was slowly healing, and her dad was even taking off work more. The three Swans were getting closer again.

Helena's thoughts were interrupted by the phone ringing. "Hello, Swan residence."

"Hey, Lena, I'm staying at Jake's house for dinner, so you and Dad should order a pizza or something. I'll be home tonight, I just wanted to let you know," her little sister chimed from the phone. She sounded so happy compared to when Helena, first, arrived.

"Okay, that's cool. I'll talk to you, later. Tell Billy I said they need to come over for dinner soon, too. I'll even bake. Love you."

"I will. Love you, too. Bye."

Helena smiled as she hung up the phone. Bella was healing.

Valentine's Day had come and passed with minor issues.

The only real problem was the amount of stuffing Helena was still finding up after the plushie she had bought her dad became Squirrel's newest toy. Bella had enjoyed the gag card and candy she had gotten as well.

Helena was attempting to distract her sister from the sudden disappearance of Jacob. He had mysteriously decided to bail on the younger Swan. Billy gave a million excuses but neither sister believed them. Still, Bella wasn't letting it get her too down, for which Helena was glad.

Charlie wasn't quite sure what to make of the girls' improvements. Whether she wanted to admit it or not, Helena was a handful herself. Being suspended countless times, detention more than that, and expelled once for fighting, Helena was not one who backed down. Charlie was thankful his oldest had settled down a little. He still caught a glimpse of that fire when Bella mentioned someone saying anything about the Cullens but the girl had yet to act, for which Charlie was grateful.

Helena had the house to herself. Charlie hadn't made it back from his fishing trip and Bella was supposedly on First Beach with Jacob but Helena didn't believe that was what the two teenagers were doing since this was the first time the pair had hung out since Jacob's supposed illness.

However, she took advantage of the opportunity and was drying some herbs for future spell jars. She had to admit, she had become far too lenient with her practice since moving to Forks. Though she had been lighting her deity candles regularly, that was all the girl had been doing. If her grandma had seen, Helena would be dead, or at least very close.

So, that led the girl to sorting through the herbs she had and placing them in their own jars. Squirrel tangled himself around her feet as she moved from counter to counter in the kitchen. "Shit, dude. I'm gonna step on your tail and you're gonna get pissed and it won't be on me."

She hadn't heard the front door open but she had heard the sharp call of her father announcing their company, a warning to watch her language. She headed into the living room to find Harry Clearwater with her dad.

   "Hey, you guys. Catch anything-?"

The girl hadn't been able to finish her sentence before Bella had stormed into the house. "Dad! I saw them in the woods! Its not bears. It's wolves. Wolves the size of a horse. They were chasing- i don't know something."

"The woods? Bells, what the fuck were you doing in the woods? Dad told you not to!" Helena could not believe the audacity of the younger girl. "Was Jacob even with you or was that an excuse so I would let you go alone?"

Bella hadn't considered her sister's reaction to the news. "I, I just wanted to go for a walk. I didn't think it would be a big deal."

"It very clearly is! I would have gone with you!"

Charlie jumped between the feeding girls' angry words. "Bells, are you sure they were wolves?"

Bella nodded. "I'm certain. I saw them. They were so close to me, I don't know why they didn't chase me."

Charlie looked at his friend. "Well, Harry, do you want to get a hunting party together? See what we can find?"

The older man didn't seem like he wanted to but nonetheless he said he would call a few men from La Push to help.

After the men had left, Helena was still fuming at her younger sister. "So you haven't heard from Jake at all? Only Billy," she questioned.

"No, I went over there the other day and I saw Jake, but he wasn't sick. He was running around in the rain without a shirt. What person with mono would do that?"

Helena had to agree it was suspicious but it wasn't their business. "Bella, you need to trust Billy. He just wants what's best for the both of you. If he's telling you these things, I'm sure there's a reason."

"I think Sam's cult got to Jacob. He cut his hair and got the same tattoo. He's terrified of them, Lena."

"Bells, noone can make that boy do anything. He's over 6 feet tall. I'm sure he'll come around."

"Well, I'm going to try and visit today. I really think something is wrong."

The moment Bella said those words, something in Helena's bones rattled. She felt there was something going on.

Helena frowned. "I'm going with you. Don't argue. Don't ask. I'm driving too."
Helena held her hand out for Bella's keys, which she handed to her without another word. The two sisters were on their way.
