Ch 2

"....nah."

The jester stopped laughing and just stared at Sans with a surprised expression. "Are you saying no to my game..?" His grin had fallen and he just gave the skeleton with an awkward expression. The battle was ended right then and there and Jevil just kinda stood there, awkwardly.

"Yes. I am saying no. Don't have the energy." He shrugged, "Look, pal, don't go challengin' people. Humans aren't very. . . happy. . . that us monsters are out of the undergound so don't cause trouble or you're gonna have a bad time."

Jevil just stood there in silence, not knowing what exactly to say at that moment. He just stared, his yellow pupils finally visible amongst the void of his eyes. "A bad time, a bad time?" He giggled a bit, his shock finally fading away. "And how would I have a bad time if you don't exist, exist? We're nothing but pawns, pawns, in this twisted game of chess!"

"I may not like it, but I will fight if and when i have too. Frisk knows this all too well."

Frisk shuffled their feet anxiously, knowing full well what was being referred to..

The jester just laughed again. "No promises, no promises!" He hoisted himself into the air with his tail and sat, suspended in the air with crossed legs. "You're interesting, interesting!" He was looking at Sans with a wide grin. "Not many people back out of my games that easily! You don't follow the rules do you, do you?"

"The rules?" He asked confused. "I dont seem to understand, pal. I don't know what you're going on about."

"The rules, the rules!" Jevil suddenly disappeared and reappeared in front of Sans. "You know things that most don't! You know secrets that are best kept on silent, silent!" The jester got quite close to the skeleton, grinning wider than he has so far. " You remember things that no one else does."

"I remember the different timelines, yeah. All 640 of them. This one is somewhat better because Frisk hasn't reset yet."

"You know, you know! You break the rules, the rules!!" He kept his grin and didn't lean back. "You're not supposed to remember! You're a Joker Card!!" Jevil laughed loudly, using his tail to lift him up higher than Sans, "You're like me, like me!"

"I guess you could say that. I'm the only one that remembers, other than Frisk." He shrugged, "Not that special"

Jevil once again got super close to Sans. "No, no! Very special in deed! You remember! Only the heroes of the game are supposed to remember!" He laughed again, his eyes darkening. He lowered himself to be face to face with the skeleton. "You are the Joker Card of this deck, this deck! You know half of the truth, the truth!"

The skeleton grounded the jester, using his blue soul ability with black void eyes. "Look, I don't know who convinced you that this was a game, but what's so special about the fact I remembered?"

Jevil squeaked a bit when Sans used his magic on him. He stared at the blue soul in surprise before turning to the skeleton once more. "Uee hee hee! It breaks the rules, breaks the rules!" The jester seemed to relax the tiniest bit while his soul was blue, but he kept his madness. "And the knight told me! The knight showed me it's all a game!"

"Who is 'the knight'?" He asked, getting vaguely annoyed with the cryptic nature of this jester. "You aren't making sense."

The jester just giggled a bit, looking amused at the skeleton's annoyance. "I know I'm not!" He laughed and rolled back on his heels a bit. "The knight is the knight! The knight who knows the secrets, secrets! The knight who speaks in hands!"

His left eye lit up in blue-ish magic, eyes widening. "He who speaks in hands..? You can't possibly mean. . ." he cut himself off. 'It cant be Gaster.. He disappeared years ago...' He thought to himself, worried about what Gaster could've told this poor jester.

Jevil laughed with a certain sort of madness that was quite.. concerning. "Yes! Yes! The knight spoke in hands! He told me the truth, the truth about this twisted game!"

"...Why am i not surprised.." He muttered.

The poor jester just continued to laugh. It seems that whatever Gaster had told him drove him mad..

He kept the soul blue, sighing. "Look. Gaster's always like that. Don't take any mind to what he says." He huffed. He wasn't a fan of Gaster for what he's done but he can't change it.

Jevil looked at Sans with pure black eyes, grinning. "But he showed me, he showed me! I saw the code, the colors, everything! I saw, I saw!"

He growled before sighing. "Look. Gaster tried to do thst to me as well. It could've been a damn illusion for all we know."

Jevil stopped smiling, instead it was replaced with a frown. The jester looked confused as he stared at the skeleton. "But.. But I saw, I saw!.. I saw it all for what it is!" He started to look a little angry, but it looked more like a child about to throw a tantrum. "You just don't understand, don't understand! You haven't seen it, you haven't seen it! It's all just a game! The knight didn't lie to me, didn't lie to me!"

"Jevil, I'll be honest here. Gaster isn't truthful about some things. He may be a scientist  but don't take everything he says to heart."

Jevil became silent, staring at Sans with a blank expression. His tail dropped a bit, dragging on the ground. "..So what are you going to do then, what are you going to do then? Lock me away again, away again?" The jester suddenly became angry, his eyes showing his yellow pupils as he glared at the skeleton. "Is that your plan, is that your plan? He wouldn't lie to me, lie to me!" Jevil took a step closer to Sans, tense and angry, but there were a million layers of hurt beneath all of that anger and madness. A small Jester who just wanted to make people laugh.. "I know he wouldn't, know he wouldn't! He promised me, promised me!"

"Look. Gaster does break promises.." He replied. His eyes were black and he was ready to fight back. "He tries to convince people that there's code and all that  but its possible that's all faked because there's no scientific evidence that it exists."

The jester took a step back from Sans, eyes wide. "No... No! He wouldn't, he wouldn't!" Jevil looked around him in a slight panic before landing right back to Sans. He took another step back and disappeared, leaving no trail as to where he went.

He sighs, "Welp.. Gaster broke him... Why am I not all that surprised..." He muttered, "He needs to stop trying to do that...
