~Chapter 10~

I sat quietly in my seat as my class roared around me. Some kids just kept talking and others were adding to the noise by shushing their friends. The teacher stood at the front of the classroom, her arms crossed and a fixed frown of disappointment on her face. I looked around the classroom and spotted Sammy, locking eyes with me from across the room. Her mouth silently formed the words, help me. I chuckled and mouthed back, same, I feel your pain. I felt a cold stare on me and my eyes wandered to the front of the room where the teacher glared at me. Her ice blue eyes hard as diamonds, as blue as sapphires. I turned back to Sammy ignoring the stare to see Sammy mouth, oooo, you just got the look. I rolled my eyes and I looked to the clock. Coincidentally, the guys started counting down the seconds left of class. The bell rang and the class exploded. They ran out of the faster than the next. I walked out with Sammy and grabbed my backpack. I pushed through the doors for the last time as a junior.

I congregated with Sammy, Kristen, Amanda, and Jordyn around the flag pole. After talking for quite a few minutes we walked down the street together towards our block. Approaching Kristen's house we agreed to keep in touch. She walked up the steps and slid into the house. Next house was Jordyn's house. We all said our farewells and Jordyn walked around to the back of her house. Now it was just Amanda, Sammy, and I. As we walked closer to Amanda's house, Sammy spoke up, "Hey when you're out of that boot, give me a buzz, I have a new volleyball net set up in the back, I forgot to mention it to Jordyn and Kristen, but this invite includes you too was Amanda." I nodded and Amanda, stopped, turned her head, then sprinted across the street and up her doorstep. Her fumbled around looking for her key, sliding the key into the door and walked inside. Sammy and I continued walking starting some sort of conversation that led to Sammy surprising me. "Is riding fun?" I stopped and looked at her. "Like, horses?" Sammy nodded, I inquired why. "Well, I might want to start, like I know it's dangerous, but, it looks fun, plus, my family used to ride." I looked Sammy over and started walking again. "I don't know. I mean it's fun for me. Here, when I go back, you come." Sammy's eyes immediately widened at my respond. "Really? Can I?" I shrugged my shoulders and nodded my head, "Yeah sure, I can teach you a thing or two." Sammy hugged me joyfully. She then left waving as she walked into her house. I thought to myself wondering why Sammy would want to ride. I wouldn't know for sure until she would approach Pine Wood Stables in July.
