I turn, but too slowly to be normal. My eyes widened. My eyes and mouth were frozen, wide open in an expression of stunned surprise, and I was staring straight at him. There was a delicious moment where my face washed blank with confusion, like my brain cogs couldn't turn fast enough to take in the information from my wide eyes.

The scene was quite unbelievable, shocking really. My mind was unable to comprehend or process the image of a person, that was being sent by my eyes. I looked away, then looked back to see if he was still there, or it is just an illusion. He was standing right in front of me with disheveled hair, cream color T-shirt, khaki color pants with sneakers.

One time when I was on a tree, waiting motionless to be found by Hareem, I dozed off and fell ten feet to the ground, landing on my back. It was as if the impact had knocked every wisp of air from my lungs, and I lay there struggling to inhale, to exhale, to do anything.

That's how I feel now, trying to remember how to breathe, unable to speak, totally stunned he keeps on bouncing around inside my skull. He saw the shock register on my face before I could hide it. A small smile played on his lips. Every muscle of my body just froze before a grin crept onto my face, it soon stretched from one side to the other showing every single tooth.

"Are you okay?" he asks the question smoothly, the low rumble of his voice is comforting as it wraps around me and carries me off to a different world. It was the richness of his tone – luxurious and warm.

I squeak and then flushes lightly when I realize that he was waiting for an answer.

"I'm fine." I tried to sound normal. The chuckle that came as a reply is that soft, rolling thunder that billows across the dark skies on a stormy night.

"Shocked to see me?" He ask raising his eyebrows and I nodded dumbly. He again laughed making my cheeks go full red!! Sheesh...I was embarrassing myself so much!!!

"Ho-how did you came?? I-I mean, I didn't heard the doorbell." I tried not to stammer but I did.

"By this" he said showing the spare keys of my house. I was super confused, how did he have the keys??

"How did you got that?" I asked.

"Mom gave me" he said kissing Adeel.

"Mama?? But, I talked to her, she was with her friends and then Dad was taking her somewhere." I said remembering my talk with her.

He was grinning from ear to ear, "No way, No Way...!!!" I said.

"Yes Way, they came to receive me." He replied, playing with Adeel.

"And they gave you the keys, just like that?" I asked putting my hands on the hips.

"Yes, they said that they're going out and you might be sleeping, so take these keys and go in!!" He said casually.

"But how did they came to know that you're coming? You didn't even told me!!" I said glaring.

"I didn't said to anyone, even I was shocked to see them. When I asked them that how did they knew? All they did was smile.. " he said shrugging.

"But, why would they do this?"

"Simple, they wanted to give you a surprise, but they forgot that you didn't like surprises" he said looking straight at me.

"Except this, I loved this surprise!!" I said smiling but then suddenly my smile dropped!! Geez...what did I said??? Moron....
He was happily smirking taking full advantage of my stupidity!!

"Umm, umm I- I meant, I still hate surprises. You should freshen up, while I get you something to eat!!" I said trying to sound cool.

"Hanya, I don't mind, you wearing this outfit!! But it was me, who came in. What if, someone else would have come?" He said pointing at me.

I looked down and quickly tried to cover up myself as much as I can with that shrug, which was now hanging low on my shoulders. "Nobody, would have come like that, as you came!! Normal people come inside after ringing the doorbell not just barge in!!!" I said.

"Well, if we have the full advantage to do so, then why shouldn't we use?" He said and I controlled myself to not to rip his hair off, which was continuously distracting me!!

"You, All men's are same!!!" I stomped away huffing....

I quickly made pasta, coffee and took upstairs. He had already changed and was now lying down on my bed with Adeel looking at him. He kept on running his nose with Adeel's making him giggle, Everytime.

"Food is ready" I announced. I placed the tray in front of him. He didn't said anything, just looked at me. I motioned him to eat but he got up.

"You really believed the rumors??" He asked suddenly.

"What rumors??" I asked.

"Me and Mariam?" He asked, I tried my best to not to jump on him with questions!!

"I don't know what you're talking about?" I tried to play.

"Stop playing, you know very well what I'm talking about!!" He said leaning on my study table.

"No, I didn't believe it. Happy?" I hissed.

"Then, what is this doing in your room??" He asked pulling out the same paper that was there in the newspaper, which had both of them holding hands!! My eyes widened and I fastened my steps towards.

"Give it back to me??" I said trying to get hold of that page from him.

"Answer me first" he said holding it more high.

"I did answer you. And it's a bad habit to go through into someone else's things!!" I said jumping.

"Yes it is, but that thing is related to me, so I had to definitely go through into someone else's things" he said throwing paper from one hand to hand.

"Fine, don't tell me that I didn't warn you!!" I said and leaped towards him but he caught me easily and pinned me to the wall. I tried my best to get out of that intimidating position but he has caged me between his muscular arms.

"Stop fidgeting and look at me" he said. I looked at him and he was doing the same. I kept on lowering my gaze while he kept on staring at me.

"What??" I asked.

"Did you really believe it?"

"Yes, I did for once. But I knew that these were just false rumors."

"You really thought, that I'm cheating on you?" He asked leaning closer.

"I tried my best not to, but you both seemed really close." I said.

"Mariam, is a good friend of mine and nothing else. And she knows that we're married. After talking with you that night, I told her everything. We are friends from the very first day of my work!! I know my limits Hanya and I'll never cross that. At least trust me on this." He said looking straight at my eyes.

"I tried hard to not to, but every time I said that to myself only one thing came from inside and that is, this marriage is nothing but just a compromise from both of us. And-" he cut me off by placing his index finger on my lip.

"And you thought that I had the full right to move on and choose my girl!! Hanya, I had already chose my girl once, but fate didn't played fair with me. But now I've you, and I'll never forget that!!" He said, his breath fanning my face.

"Why does it concern you what I think? After all you're-"

"Shhh...No, I'm not allowed to do anything. Hanya, we are together in this marriage, so why let you suffer alone? It's difficult for me, but still-" this time I put my finger on his lip. I gasped and quickly pulled back my finger due to the intensity of the sparks that flowed right through my arms!!

Even he was shocked for a bit. He pulled me more closer to him, I closed my eyes concentrating on my breathing.

"As much as I love to hold you this way, but this isn't right!! No...this is just not right" he quickly pulled back himself. I opened my eyes to find a different person standing in front of me. He was not that person, who was there before.

He was that person who lost his wife and married me only because of his child. He was that person who love his wife alot. He was that person, whom I've started caring for...

But that person was not mine, he was and will always be hers'!!
