             Danny could not, no refused, to believe what he was hearing. "What, mom, no we can't!" Maddie had anticipated this response from her youngest. "Danny I've thought about this and even talked to your dad about this last night."

The teen felt confused and betrayed as altered his gaze between his ghosthunting parents. How could they do this? 

Frostbite...

Dora...

Wolf ...

Pandora...

Princess Dorthea...

Even annoying Cujo and Dairy King... (Not Box Ghost though, Nope...Nada...Ok maybe a tiny bit).

And  

Clockwork. What would he do without Clockwork? There would be no one there to set him on the right path if he were to mess up.  He was the one who had saved everyone he cared about....and Lancer.

Danny knew the why but sometimes it is hard to separate reason from emotion. He was adamant that this would not happen.

"Mr and Mrs. F! Your just gonna tear down your own life's work?" Jack and Maddie didn't waver. "My children's lives is worth more than all our work combined! You and Sam are constantly in danger too! All because of this Ghost Portal!!" Jack spoke with a quiet rage, which was directed at himself. All the fighting, all the distance between him and his kids was due to his obsession with ghosts!

"No dad, mom we cannot do this! You've worked too hard! And I have allies in there! Friends! I told you about Clockwork! There are others too!"

"And also others who have tried to kill you! Including your evil older self whom your beloved ally Clockwork has in custody but for how long? " Maddie countered. "I cannot lose you or Jazz Danny! I just can't!"

This was Danny's breaking point. "I trust Clockwork! And I've been doing just fine!! I've dealt with them time and time again! Even before you found out! I know you want to protect me, but I'm not JUST your son anymore! Your portal made me something more and gave me a purpose and something to fight for! If you really want to make up for me almost dying in there then you will leave it alone." The tone was slightly threatening. Danny realized after the fact of what he had said and realized the guilt he must have put them through. He hadn't meant to go that far, but as with most things in the heat of the moment it had just come out. 

He saw his parents demoralized figures and froze. He knew they were trying to atone for the past and he had abused that to win the argument. Did he hold a grudge? Was he more like Vlad than he liked to believe?

"I'm sorry." His voice warbled. "I didn't mean to go that far. I promise I don't hate you for what happened! It just came out and I..." 

"No Danno It's ok. You have every right to be mad at us."

"It was uncalled though to say that. And I really am not mad. But please don't shut the portal. If it helps I have a solution to the issue about blood loss. You take blood from me now so I have supply." "And what if that isn't enough?" Danny half-smiled. "What is it?"

"Have you heard of the female Dani Phantom?"

                     Danny did his best to catch his parents up to speed on Danielle and how she came to be. They were definitely concerned to hear that she had been living  on the streets, without a family and that her whereabouts at the moment were unknown. And the fact that this girl was basically a daughter to them made it even worse!

"How can we find her?" Both older Fentons asked in unison. Danny remembered Sam had said something about Valorie contacting her. "I'll need to get Valerie to call her. I have no idea where she went but she was there when I was being controlled by Vlad." He would have to go as Phantom. "Hey!"  A cheery voice greeted from the entrance. Jazz was back from her trip to the library. She had gotten a mixture of Psychology books and books on Post Consciousness and the reasons a Ghost may be tied to Earth. "Hey Jazzerincess!" Jack smiled widely. "Welcome home sweetie!" Maddie smiled.  Danny nodded his welcome. Was that enough for Jazz. Oh, you can bet not! "Come on you dork! I expect a proper greeting!" Jazz jested as she playfully trapped him and noggied his head. "Fine, you win! Welcome home oh my sister dearest!" Danny choked out dramatically. "Much better little brother. What did I miss?" Mom and son shared a knowing glance. "Nothing much." Both blurted simultaneously. No need to bring  back up what had just been resolved. 

                              "Well, Danny you have a visitor. I told her she could wait in the living room." "What, who?" "Valerie." She wanted to see him? Would she still want to destroy him? "What" "Yeah, she said she wanted to talk to you. Go on up there and we'll be here." Danny cautiously traveled up the stairs. You know that feeling you get when you have no idea where you stand with someone. That's how Danny felt. "Hey." "Hey back at ya Fenton." Valerie smirked. What did that mean?  She patted the couch. "Uh you just gestured for me to sit on my own couch." Danny pointed out trying to break the tension. " Oh, right." Valerie laughed nervously. "Danny, I think you know why I'm here." "Yes and no. I know why but not what you are here for." Valerie shifted uncomfortable. "

                    "I know you're Phantom and I wanted to apologize for everything I did to you!" The African American girl blurted. Danny was taken aback by Valerie's earnestness and hugged her gently. As he sat back he thought out what  he should say. "Val, you had a right to be mad at 'the ghost boy'. I basically ruined your life, even though that was in no way my intentions." Valerie looked sheepish as she responded. "I think it actually taught me alot. i've become a better person. I used to be so shallow, like Paulina. It was like we were the Plastics in Mean Girls or something. I was fake and had no real friends. But then I met you guys." She gave a timid smile.

                  "It's funny in retrospect how I broke up with you out of fear of you getting hurt when I was the one hunting you" Both cringed at the memory and the word choice , as it reminded them of Skulker. "About that..." Danny started but was cut off by Valerie's  hearty laugh. "Don't worry. I'm not trying to get back together with you. I think everyone knows who your meant to be with." "You know I've liked Sam?" "Everyone knows, trust me."

                   Just as they finished a certain Techno Geek made his way up. "Oh hey Val!" Sadly he did not see the last step and proceed to lose his balance. As he made a moaning noise  Valerie ran to help him up. "Oh Tucker. Please watch where you're going. Do you need someone to consistently watch you?" "Yes, yes I do and you'd do nicely" The girl made a disgusted face and let go of him, which led him to once again fall to the ground.

"Smooth Tuck." Danny chuckled. He loved his friend to pieces but he really needed to work on not trying so hard. Maybe Tucker and Valerie...hmmm now there was a thought. 

            He then remembered what he needed to ask. "Val, do you know what happened to Dani after the school incident?" Valerie's forehead crinkled in concentration. "No, but maybe I can call her...That girl is all over the place. As she dialed She reached the youngest halfa. It was decided that Dani would be there as soon as possible, which turned out to be 1 min. As the girl appeared to come out of nowhere, it spooked Tucker, Danny, and Valerie. "Man you are fast!" Tucker exclaimed. "Danny!!!!" The girl  flew up to hug her "cousin" around the neck. "I'm so happy you're ok!" "Thanks Cuz! You helped big time ya know." He got down on her level to look her in the eyes. "How are you holding up?" "Oh I'm great! I'm so much better than when I was destabilizing! I've seen all sorts of places too!" She looked happy enough but Danny knew something was missing from her life. People.

            "Dani, you stay here. Let me talk to my parents." She flinched at the mention of the ghosthunters. "It's ok! They know about me and you! Just wait a second. 

          After having heard Danny's stories about her and knowing she was basically theirs, it was no question on the Fenton's minds about where the young girl should stay. As Maddie made her way up she saw a face that looked so familiar yet new. "Hi Dani!" Maddie spoke gently. The same eyes as her baby boy, the same hairstyle modified with a ponytail, same face structure but softer, and she even had the same nervous tick of rubbing her neck. All these endeared the girl to her already. "Hello Mr. and Mrs. Fenton." The girl seemed to be petrified.

"Sweetie there is no need to be scared. And you can call us Maddie and Jack. Danny, Jack, Jazz, and I were just talking and we were wondering...." Maddie looked at Jack expectantly to finish.

"How would you like to stay with us and be a Fenton?"
