Chapter 2
He looked her over for what must've felt like minutes and Claire couldn't help but feel awkward and nervous at the same time. He answered. "Claire Rosaline, my name is Being Ovalsk '' he said.
"Sorry to bother you, but I happen to be bored." She interrupted him and got a raised eyebrow in response. "Who are you and how did you stop time just now?" He hummed. "In response to your question, I'm just me. If you're wondering what I am, then simply put I'm a god. It's in my name," he said mysteriously.
"Wow, your parents mustve been high when they named you. Could be worse" Claire gasped and shut her mouth, shocked at what she said. Being glared, looking like he wanted to murder her. "For your information, I was raised by sweet forest nymphs. It is a special name in its right, so of course you won't understand!"
He leaned forward. His painful grip on her shoulder was a reminder of being a fool could have a deadly cost. Especially in front of a god. Her heart raced and she jumped back. She shook off her daze and spoke. "Why have I been able to see death since my childhood?"
"That's because I chose you," he replied. Claire blinked, unsure of what to say. "But why me?" she said. She was skeptical that the whole thing was actually happening. "Because why not? You're smart, brave, strong and intriguing" Being stated. " But I'm not as amazing as you think I am, I'm just as greedy as anyone else"
"Are you sure about this?" she asked. Being nodded. "What powers did you give me exactly?'' she asked. "I gave you many, which you'll discover later on" Being said. Claire laughed like a maniac because the info was too much and the whole situation was hilarious. But the look on Being's face told her he was serious.
"I've been watching you, you know. That's why I know you're the right one this time" he said truthfully. Claire snorted. "Stalker much?" He shrugged and didn't answer. "How do I know you aren't just using me?" she said softly with a low voice. Being paused and replied slowly.
"That's a good question, I might be using you," Claire looked up at him in shock at his bluntness. Being chuckled. "But it is up to you to accept that and the responsibilities that come along with it" Being said.
"Any other questions?"
Claire nodded. "We as humans have Madd up stories about Gods and their regeneration. Is there a truth to that?"
A simple yes was given. Claire immediately asked the next one. "How exactly does aging work? I mean, it must be lonely..."
Being ignored the comment and replied. "These are true and false. We each stop aging differently. There have even been cases of other immortals that keep aging. I'm not one of them.
I will stop aging at some point. It's just a matter of time. So it's complicated"
