Chapter 3

Chapter 3: Starting Today, You're Our Maid!

"Put this on." The glasses wearing demon, Kyoya, stated.

I peaked in the bag and spotted lace.

"Do I have to?" I groaned.
"Yes, you are in no position to decline. Now change, we are opening soon." He replied.

I pulled the curtain closed behind me.

I pulled the out the outfit-a lacey, frilly nightmare that consisted of a low-cut chest and a short skirt with the cherry on top, laced stockings, and black heels.

"This is way too revealing." I said to myself, rolling my eyes as I put it on. I wrapped my tail up the clothes along the way. I fidgeted in the outfit.

This is very uncomfortable. It hurts my tail. I complained to myself.

I clipped my ears back, annoyed with the tightness. I covered it with the matching headband.

I slid the heels on, and I struggled to get the zipper up.

"What is taking you so long?" called Kyoya.
"I can't get the zipper up." I groaned.

I heard the curtain get pulled open, causing me to turn around.

"Here, let me help you."

I could feel my face heating up as he zipped up the back of shirt.

"Thank you." I mumbled.

A small smile formed on his face.

"This way." he motioned.

As soon as I stepped out, Tamaki lunged to hug me.

"Oh, my little girl is so cute!" he squealed.

I stepped out of the way.

"One, please don't touch me. Two, I'm not your little girl." I deadpanned.
He sulked in the corner and I turned my attention away from him.

"Go to the kitchen and prepare a cart of cakes and tea. When the guests enter, offer them some." Kyoya ordered.

"Since when did a music room have a kitchen?" I questioned.
"We are very resourceful. Now, go to your position."
"Yes, master."

I prepared the cart with tea and cake. I stood their waiting for the cue. After a few minutes I heard them say welcome and the guests come in. I took a deep breath before stepping out of the kitchen with the cart.

"You can do this. Smile and be friendly." I whispered to myself.

I pushed the cart up to some tables.

"Who is that?" whispered someone.
"They have a maid?"
"Oh she looks so pretty."

I looked down, avoiding their gazes as I moved to Tamaki's area.

"Tea?" I offered, giving a slight smile.
The girls blushed, nodding. I sat the tea down in front of them.
"Cake?" I asked.

"Yes please." blushed another girl.

I set the cake down by her tea.

I bowed, giving them all a smile before moving to the next area.

I continued to do this for the rest of the evening.

"Have a nice day ladies." I smiled to the guests as they leave.

"Bye Nanami!" called a few of them.

I went to go change out of the clothes.

"Need my assistance with the zipper?" called Kyoya.

"N-No thank you." I stammered, pulling the curtain closed.

I changed my clothes, returning to the couch with a flannel and a hat.

"This couch is so soft." I sighed, sinking into.

I started to nod off, tired from today's events.

"Mom, look what I made you!" I smiled, showing her my drawing.

She smiled, holding it in her hands.

"It's beautiful. Just like you." she said.

She started coughing, covering her mouth.

"Are you okay, Mom?" I asked, looking up at her.
"Yes, my little angel. I'm okay." she replied.

*^*^*^*

I bolted up when someone jostled my shoulder.

"Huh?" I muttered, rubbing my eyes.
"You dozed off. Everyone else has started to head home." Haruhi said, smiling.
"Oh, thank you." I smiled, feeling slightly embarrassed.

The following day...

I sat at the back of class and laid my head down. I was enjoying the silence when I heard a herd of footsteps towards me. They were lighter and didn't sound like the twins of Haruhi.

I looked up from them as they looked expectantly down at me.

"So you work at the host club?" one asked.

I nodded.

"What's it like?" she asked.
"You're so lucky!" chanted the other one.
"So are you a maid?" asked one.

I was surprised by their reaction.

"Yeah, I am a maid. It's not too bad." I smiled, slightly awkward.
"You looked so pretty in your uniform!" they squealed.

They smiled at me before hurrying back to their seats, leaving me slightly surprised.

Seconds later the twins and Haruhi came in. I looked up at and saw Hikaru looking at me with distaste, while Kaoru and Haruhi gave me a slight wave.

"Morning." Haruhi said as she sat down.
"Good morning." I replied.
"Good morning." Kaoru said, sitting next to me.

"Since when did you guys sit here?" I asked.
"Since you became the maid." Hikaru sneered.

I cringed at his hateful tone, looking out the window to avoid their gazes.

"Shouldn't you pay attention to this?" asked Kaoru.
"I'm already learned this. It won't matter that much." I muttered, avoiding his gaze.

*^*^*^*^*

I pulled my hood closer to my head as I moved through the hall. The twins were walking ahead of me and Haruhi beside me.

"How come you always have your hood up?" she asked.
"N-No reason. It's just... cold. Yeah, it's cold." I stammered quickly.

The twins looked at me skeptically.

"Yeah, it is pretty cold." Haruhi laughed, completely oblivious.

We reached the music room door. They started to head in.

"Hikaru, can I speak to you?" I asked quietly.

He scoffed and rolled his eyes.

"You guys coming?" Haruhi asked, holding the door open.
"Yeah one second.

"Coming Hikaru?" Kaoru asked.
"In a second, go on ahead." Hikaru replied.

We stood there silent, the only sound was him tapping his foot.

"If you're not going to talk, I'm leaving." He scorned, starting to walk past me.

"Wait, please. I'm sorry," I scrambled, talking fast. "I understand that you hate me, but I really didn't mean for it to happen."

"I highly doubt it." He sneered.

"I really didn't mean to." I muttered, fiddling with the hood.

My actions seemed to annoy him.

"I can't stand you," he snapped. "Everyone just accepts you in here even Kaoru forgave you. They act as if you never even did anything wrong!"

He grabbed the collar of my hoodie and glared at me.

"Hikaru..." I murmured.

"Well I'm not going to forgive you that easily! I'm not going to... You don't deserve it." he stated scornfully.
"I know," I whispered, tears stinging my eyes. "I know I don't deserve it! I've been reminded of that forever. You think I don't know? I've had to live with that for years... Years of knowing that!"

I could feel my breath catching in my throat. I couldn't breathe, or I could, but it felt like I was suffocating.

"I'm... sorry..." I stammered between breathes.

He looked at me concerned and shocked at my words.

I shook my head and ran down the hall, struggling to breath. Tears ran down my face as I stopped in the classroom.

I slid down the wall, trying to slow my breathing.

"Just breathe, Nani. It's okay. It's just anxiety." cooed Mom.

"Oh Mom, what do I do?" I sighed, wiping my eyes.
