Chapter 19, The Three Windows

"Hello, hello!" Raea smiles at us. "Just give me a second..." she moved all her classes books and papers into a messy pile. "All right, come on in!"

We sit in her white lounging chairs. I begin, "Do you know our ex-friend Matthew?"

Without waiting for a response, Lola blurts out, "Why wasn't he in classes?"

Raea looks at us with a stone hard glare. "I am still a teacher. Just because I am the coolest teacher around-," Lola and I snicker "-does not mean that you can demand me tell you something!" She turns her glare to Lola, who leans back slightly. "Okay?"

We're speechless for a few seconds. "Okay," I say shamefully.

"Sorry," Lola says with the same tone.

"Anyway, I don't know." Raea steers the topic back on track. "He wasn't in my class, I know that."

"I saw him on the third floor, by the window." I tell Raea.

Raea is clearly surprised. She even slightly raises her eyebrows. "That window... It has a dreadful story...

"There used to be three windows. One stood for KINDNESS, one stood for EQUALITY, and the last one stood for WAR.

"It was ten years ago when the legendary battle named 'Rubble" happened. Except we didn't win; the M.O.N.S.T.E.R.S did. It was horrible. Terrible.

"And they destroyed KINDNESS. We went through a period in which nobody was kind. It was... tragic. Then the curse lifted, thankfully, but the window, it was destroyed forever. Forever.

"Then EQUALITY. It was catastrophic. People ordering their friends around, oh... the bad times!

"They didn't destroy WAR. To the M.O.N.S.T.E.R.S, WAR is like their friend. WAR is where Ceres saw something out the window. I don't know is she was lying or, or anything. Matthew was probably trying to talk to a M.O.N.S.T.E.R.S. Only those who are allies of M.O.N.S.T.E.R.S. would be able to see and talk to them."

Lola and I looked at each other in horror.
