Part 2 - Chapter 4
<A/N: Hey This part is what I call the 'BIG BANGER'. This part is a life changing decision for both Amethyst and Jason. Hope you guys like it!;D>
I leave my career of fifteen years and find a decant job in New York as a waitress. As I couldn’t forget my old life, the restraunt I worked was vampiric. It was the closest I could get to Jason and the only thing to stop me going insane with my past.
My brother visited me as often as allowed. The pile of paperwork on his desk, however, was increasing in height and limiting our time together. After Ather’s death, her responsibility had fallen upon him.
************************
It was a Tuesday, four months after the battle, when I took a day off work to help Jason. My assumption of the paperwork’s size was soon doubled. My brother was also feverish.
“Jas, go lie down.” I commanded him. “If you keep going you’ll inflict an infection in your arm.” Jason looked at his forearm. His wound was opening up again.
“Will be okay doing my work?” He stalls.
“Of course. That’s why I came. NOW, go to bed!”
**************************
I was halfway done when Jason’s vampiric friend appeared. I stifle a scream.
“Maveric! Don’t do that! Warn me next time.”
“Amy! I thought you would be at Sinew Café. Do you know where Jason is?”
“Yes, he’s in bed.”
“At this time of the day? Why?”
I sigh half-heartedly. “Because he’s sick.”
Maveric puts on a thoughtful expression. It does little to hide his grief. “I guess I should come back another time?”
I draw in a breath to respond, but am interrupted by a masculine one behind me.
“Don’t listen to her. You can come by anytime you like.” Maveric and I glance behind to confront Jason.
“You’re supposed to be sleeping.” I point out. “Do you really want to make yourself worse?”
Jason shrugs. “It’s not that bad.”
“That’s not what that suggests.” I jester to his arm, red and swelling. He shrugs again.
“Don’t really care.”
“You will be when you’re on deaths door!” That got him. Jason and Maveric stand like stuffed mullets at my declaration, each wondering who will make the first move. Maveric’s eyes drift to his friend, noting his condition. Beads of sweat line his forehead, his hands were shaking and his arm was worse than when it was injured.
“Dude, no offence, but I agree with your sister, you should be in bed.” He agrees.
“Not you too.” Jason complains. “Amy I don’t know how you do it but you sure have a way with people. I wish I had that talent.”
“It’s not talent, it’s years of experience.” I explain. Jason huffs.
“Yeah right. If you two are going to rival against me then I’m leaving.”
The room became silent.
“He really hasn’t changed has he?” I ask.
“No, he hasn’t. I might take my leave as well.” Maveric disappears. I was left alone to compensate my own thoughts and finish my brother’s work.
It was late evening when Jason emerged again. He swung up onto his lounge and flicks the TV on.
“Do you want to watch a movie?” I ask, seeing him continuously change the channel.
“Why not.” He agrees. I pop a packet of pop-corn into the microwave, chose “DIER CONCEQUENCES” from the shelf and collapse next to him. I offer the popcorn and lean against him. We sat there for an hour before I doused off. Jason kissed me on the head, picked me up and carried me to the spare bedroom.
