It was 7am and I looked like a breathing living zombie, my skin was pale black circles hugging my bottom eyes. The lack of sleep was evident on my face, I had an hour to skillfully cover all this up.

                                 ***

As I came out the bathroom I was hit with the smell of bacon and eggs. Mum was sat on the floor eating breakfast, wearing jeans and a white top. I've never seen her so casual before.

"Hey darling you're looking beautiful today!"
I rolled my eyes and smiled.

" Thanks mum... shouldn't we get going? It's eight."

"Aren't you going to grab somethi-"

"I'll eat in school" mum gave me a worried look.

"You o-"

"I'm fine promise... can we go?"
She finally stood up placing her plate in the kitchen, she grabbed a box that was wrapped in stars.

"What's that for?" I asked my eyes
twinkling with excitement.

"This is for you" she winked holding out the present towards me.
I took the gift happily enveloping my hands around it, I gave it a little shake trying to guess what it might be. With no luck I decided to rip it apart, pieces of paper falling on the floor to reveal a brand new phone.

"Oh...my... mum I love you!! Thanks!!"
I shrieked,giving her a bear hug.

"No problem, do you like the iPhone? It's a bit too big for my taste b-"

"I love it !!"

"Can I pop to the bathroom real quick?"

"Yeah sure I'll meet you outside I'll put a few stuff into the car"

"We have a car?" I questioned raising up my eyebrow.

"We always had one in Sydney...remember?"

"Okayyy" with that I turned around and walked off towards the bathroom, opening the door I spotted the mirror. My hair cascaded down my back the front covering half my face, I can do this...I can do this I chanted the words again and again like my life depended on it.

A large building came into view surrounded by students, some chatting animatedly towards one and other and others on their phones. My stomach churned in fear, I gripped my backpack my knuckles becoming pale loosing all the  color it had.

"Are you okay Alexa?"

"Yeah...I am" I gave her a weak smile, we both knew I was lying.

"Don't worry everything will be fine, just be you and smile and don't forget to be nice" she said

"Thanks..." my thoughts were spiraling out of control it's happening again.

"I'll pick you up after school so wait for me at the car park and umm...oh ya do you have your books and timetables?"

"Yup got everything"

"Ok good" she leaned forward giving me a kiss on the cheek her lipstick leaving a mark. I rubbed it off, giving her a quick hug.

I broke into a sweat, my hands getting clammy the scorching sun didn't help either. I was glued to the spot unable to move, the bell rang people pushing and shoving to get to class. My legs started moving on their own I was greeted with fresh cool air once inside, the inside was well appointed doors adorned each corridor stairs leading to other blocks.

Last time I checked my form room was on the top floor of section B class 27, I wandered the hallways looking for B corridor I grew more frustrated as I wondered the school. Lost.
For fuc-
I retraced my steps catching sight of a human being, thank the Heavens.

"Umm... hello excuse me I'm having trouble finding my way to B27 can you help p-please" I've never really had to say please before people would always be glad to do things for me.

"Are you lost?" No way I just said that... is he deaf?
I gave him the dirtiest look i could muster in this situation.

"Yes will you help?"

"Of course...what do you need help with?" He readjusted his big round glasses showing his bright braces as he smiled. I rolled my eyes ,I was about to let it out the words that would bring tears to his eyes but bit down on my tongue. Not now I needed his help.

"Do you know where clas-" I was interrupted by the bell. SERIOUSLY!!

The halls were brought back to life, screams and laughter echoing around the school.
I dug out my timetable, English next...

"Ohhh you have English with Miss Harp she's amazing your class is just right here" he pointed to the room which was down the hall, children already seeping in. By the time I looked back he was gone, weird child.

I let out a shaky breath, every step was agonizingly painful.

One step...

Second...

Third...

I walked in to the room chin held high, all eyes zooming on to me.

And that's when I saw them the first reason I broke...
