The Hurricane That Became Life

When they got Barry stabilized the third time, Liz could finally breathe. Somewhat. She still had yet to go see him. She was afraid of what it would do to her. It had been 2 days. She hadn't showered, slept, eaten, or changed her clothes.

Though from the looks of others around her she wasn't the only one. Her hair was pulled into the same bun. Her jacket wrinkled and her feet killing her. Finally, Joe had convinced her to come back to is room in the ICU.

She took one look at Barry and she couldn't hold in her emotions any longer. She clutched Joe to stay standing as she cried. He held to her crying himself. Iris had gone home to change. Though she would be back soon.

Liz walked over to Barry's bedside. She ignored the chair and sat next to his body. She leaned down and held on to him. Still shaking with sobs she looked at his face.

It made her feel so much worse to see him. He was in a coma. He didn't look peaceful. He looked dead. She was hoping she could've convinced herself otherwise.

His lips were blocked by the ventilator. She couldn't even see them. So she settled for a kisson the cheek.

Liz laid down next to him on the bed. She gently leaned her head onto his shoulder and held his left hand in hers.

Within minutes she was fast asleep. Though she only slept for a few hours, it was enough to keep her going the next three days...

X Time Skip (9 months, aka Barry wakes up) X

Liz hadn't slept much since that night. She was too worried to even eat more than a piece of toast. She had showered and changed into a pair of jeans and a T-shirt since. Her hair was left down in its long straight form.

Caitlin, from STAR Labs, had said he should wake up. It all depended on when his mind was ready.

Caitlin and Liz had become best friends throughout the time Barry was in his coma. They both knew how it was to have their significant others taken from them. Though Caitlin's was permanent.

Liz sat everyday beside his bed waiting for him to wake up. She had taken a sabbatical from work. She still got paid and her employer had told her she was allowed to take as much time needed. However, she told him all she would need is a year. His only condition was that she finished up her notes and filed out the paperwork to transfer her cases to her Co-worker. She was already done with the files. All she had to do was drop them off. It took her a while to get through them all.

"I need to go tie up a few loose ends at work. Will you let me know if anything happens, Cait?" Liz had put it off as long as she could. But her work was 15 minutes away. It was on the other side of town completely. If you added on the time it took with heavy traffic it was a thirty minute drive there and back.

She tried her best to get to work the fastest she could. Then she realized her files were at her home. She rushed home.

She unlocked the drawer, grabbing the files she raced out the door. She had dropped off the files and tried to leave. However, her Co-worker, Parker Ritz. Had asked her to go through he file and audio recordings of each patient.

She knew that he only wanted to understand his new patients, but she couldn't help but be annoyed. She heard her phone ring. Parker strode over and silenced it.

"Take me through these files. As soon as you do, you can call..." He glanced at the caller ID. "STAR Labs back."

She knew she couldn't reason with him so she rushed through each file. She talked so fast Parker could barely understand let alone keep up with her. She grabbed her phone and called them back.

"Hello, Liz?"

"Yeah sorry I was caught up with stuff here at work. Is there any news?" Liz had hoped he had waken up. But for her own selfish reason she just hoped that he didn't. She wanted to be there when he woke.

"It's Barry. He woke up.. Do you have any idea how amazing this is? I can't even imagine what you feel."

That feeling was back again. She hung up not speaking further. She was breathless, though a somewhat good breathless. She looked at Parker who was very confused.

"My boyfriend just woke up from his coma. I can't believe it. Its been 9 mon-" She suddenly realized he probably didn't care about the details. Or about her personal life for that matter.

She excused her self and rushed to STAR Labs. She made it there in record time. 6 minutes. She hadn't bothered to watch how fast she was driving.

When she got into the cortex Barry was alive and well. He was sitting up in the bed and was answering Caitlin's questions. He still looked a little disoriented, but he looked so healthy.

Barry's POV

I had woken up from a coma. I don't even remember that much time passing. It just felt like I had a good nights rest. Dr. Snow was explaining things to me and asking questions about how I felt.

Currently she held a flashlight in front of my eyes. I was blinded for a few moments. I heard someone run into the cortex. Looking up I noticed Elizabeth standing in the door way. Shelooked panicked.

She ran to me and pulling me into the tightest hug I ever had. She pulled back. Her gaze took in my appearance. She looked hungry as if she hadn't seen me for months. She kissed me lightly. Her hands started to shake.

It was my turn to hug her. I guess my confusion had made her think I didn't know her. I pulled her tight. I held her to were each had was pressed against my chest. (And part of my abs.)

"Hey, Elizabeth. I am here. I'm safe. And I love you."
I pulled away and took in her appearance. Her hair was much longer than the last time I had seen it. She had dyed it a light golden blonde color. Her vibrant green eyes had faded into a darker grey tone. Her face was sunken in. Her cheekbones now more proment. Her usually bright skin tone was now dull and grey looking. She looked like she was the one in the coma.

"Caitlin is there any n-" Iris was cut off. She saw the scene in front of her. Her face went to a livid expression when she saw me. Everyone had turned to look at her. Even Liz.

"Hey Iris!" I waved at her. She was my sister. Well foster sister. She walked up to me and slapped me hard across the face before grabbing me into a hug.

"That's for letting all of us worry for so long." She pulled away. She patted Elizabeth on the shoulder. Since when were they friendly? Last I knew Elizabeth was still jealous of Iris. They had never been violent but they tended to avoid or ignore each other.

I must have been out for a long time. "So, how long was I out?"

"Nine months." Each and everyone of them replied. Though Cisco said it with a slight excitement. Liz and Iris sounded defeated when they spoke. Caitlin was nonchalant toward the subject.

Then Dr. Wells, the Harrison Wells, wheeled him self into the room..

Xxx
Sorry I didn't get to introduce Cisco as well as I would have liked to. Or really at all.

What do you think of Parker? I plan on having him in here more throughout the book. Maybe causing some drama.

How about Elizabeth? What do you think is gonna be changed about her into he next few chapters?
