The Calm Before the Storm
"Babe, you need to get up for work." Liz shook Barry lightly. She always had to wake him up and turn off his alarm. In the mornings he never wanted to get up. He had been that way since the first time she ever stayed over. She assumed he would never be a morning person.
All she got in reply was a grunt and him rolling over.
"Barry wake up!" She whisper shouted in his ear.
"Go away!" He groaned. He pulled the blankets over his head. "15..minutes..please" He sighed.
She had to take matters into her own hands. She turned him onto his back before stretching out on top of him. She then started lightly tapping his face back and forth between her hands. She knew the potential dangers of her actions. Fully aware that at any minute he would dump her onto the floor she put both her legs on either side of his hips. If she fell she was taking him with.
He furrowed his brow, groaning loudly. Instead of knocking her off the bed he rolled over on top of her. Successfully he trapped her under his body and continued to sleep.
"Barry.. I c-can't breathe!" She gasped. She was perfectly fine with his body weight. She knew that he would get off though.
He was fully aware of her anxiety problems. The first time he did it she wasn't prepared and had a panic attack. He did not want to repeat that experience. So when she spoke, he immediately rolled off her.
He sat up and rubbed his eyes. He then sat there slouched groaning as loud as he could. He checked his clock while glaring at the sunlight shining through the curtains.
His alarm went off at 7 o'clock, usually. When he glanced at the clock it was 6:30. He groaned in protest. He didn't even have to be at work until 8:30.
He turned his head to Liz. "What the hell, Lizzy!" He wasn't actually upset at her. He had to modes in the mornings. Especially this early in the morning; passive aggressive asshole and unmoving blanket hog. It never changed.
"I wanted you to be on time for once! It took me an hour to get you even halfway awake." She sighed exasperated.
She got off the bed and walked to the dresser. She grabbed him a T-shirt and some shorts. Then she walked to the closet where she kept her clothes. She just found hanging her clothes easier. She grabbed a tanktop and some leggings.
"You should have enough time to go on a jog with me... Please?" She had yet to see him run without being late for anything.
He sighed before getting up and throwing on the clothes she grabbed for him. He slipped on the outfit. He was slightly uncomfortable. His usual pair of jeans and a sweater were just too comfortable. He felt weird in anything different.
She got dressed quickly applying deodorant and pulling her hair into a ponytail and slipping on a headband. She grabbed her light jacket and grabbed her watch. Barry also put on deodorant and grabbed his watch.
She headed down the stairs with a pep in her walk. Obviously she had been used to being awake early in the mornings. Usually she woke around 4 o'clock and went jogging until 6:30. That's when she would come and wake him.
They had a nice routine. It was a simple, easy life and he loved every second of it. She did too.
"Hey crazy kids!" Iris spoke from the living room. She was still in her pajamas finishing writing a piece for her blog. Joe was clanging around in the kitchen.
"Wait, Barry is alive before 7:30 in the morning!" He was genuinely surprised. He came into the living room. He chuckled when he saw Barry dressed to go jogging with you.
"Be back in thirty minutes. We are gonna go for a quick jog." Liz glanced at her watch. She walked to the door.
Barry looked at Joe and gave a look of shock before breathing a heavy sigh. He followed after Liz.
She waited for him to catch up outside before she explained where they were going.
"We are just gonna go down two blocks make a left and go down four more blocks before turning left again." He nodded his head.
She started a slow jog. Though Barry was way taller than her she ran faster than he could. He was about 6'2" and she was only 5'6".
They ran in silence. He couldn't speak from losing all the air in his lungs, unable to obtain it again. She was aware that he was out of breath and didn't want to force him to try and talk with the little air he was getting.
"Try breathing out when your left foot hits the ground. Breathe in for the rest of the stride." She was hating how he was dying. She felt kind of bad for having him run with her.
He listened to her and tried to apply it to his breathing. It helped him. He was still amazed sometimes. She knew little things that most people would never consider or even need to remember. Though he knew why she had remembered this fact. She was a soccer player all throughout high school.
She was voted most likely to play pro. Though she never got that far. She wasn't interested in playing longer than she was in college.
She majored in musical education and minored in psychology. She worked as a musical therapist. He didn't fully understand what exactly she did at work. But she got paid to do what she loved.
When they finished their run they returned inside. He headed to the kitchen and grabbed a poptart. She followed him and grabbed a granola bar instead.
"You should have about 15 minutes to eat before you gotta get ready to work. I am gonna take a shower." She gave him a sweaty kiss. He was the sweaty one.
"If you're still in there when I finish I might join you." He winked at her. She smiled nodding her head as she went upstairs.
She grabbed a nice blouse and a blazer. She matched it with black skinny jeans and black and white striped heels. It was her usual look for most days. It was professional, yet elegant and femine enough.
Barry soon joined her in the shower. They laughed and played in the water. They were always having fun around each other the mood light and refreshing.
She got dressed pulling her hair into a tight high ponytail before doing her makeup. Barry raced around looking for his shoes.
She walked out and threw them at him the moment she walked into his room. He blushed embarrassed scratching the back of his neck.
He pulled them on and grabbed his wallet and keys off the night stand. Liz grabbed her keys and headed downstairs with him following. She turned around and kissed him before checking her watch.
"Barry, you don't have time to walk to work! Its 8:20." She was confused on how they took so long to get ready. She grabbed his hand and pulled him along to her car out front. He hated to take rides from her. She thought it was silly.
"I'll let you drive..." She was trying to help him get to work on time, for once. He still had yet for that to happen.
He hopped in the front seat and she got in the passenger side. They started to sing along to the radio together all the way to his work.
They had a great life together. Practically inseparable until they had to go to work. Most importantly they loved each other...

So, I tried really hard to get Liz and Barry's relationship shown through their actions. I was still trying to introduce some of Liz's background to you guys while allowing Barry and Liz to interact.
It probably sucks. But I tried, so yeah.
Have a great day guys! :)
